Yes, Clement served twice for the match and had match point at 5:4. Gulbis has been waiting long since the last win after tight match. Good for his confidence after painful defeats in the previous Masters Series tournaments. Clement has lost 10th match in career after wasting MP.

Match was played on the only court, which is not covered by camera, so I could only follow the livescore.

A nervy end of the match. Each player had only one break of serve up to 4:4 in the 3rd set. Then there were 4 breaks of serve in a row. Clement had a matchpoint at 5:4, but didn't take it. Gulbis won with his 2nd matchpoint.

Now vs Blake. Bring the ballbashing on, guys! :cool:

for a guy who's barely 19 gulbis had had a very high number of tight third set tie-breakers in tournaments. most times he ends up losing them, thank got this time he apparently managed to control his shots a bit better.

I haven't seen him too much lately but he is known to play well against big servers, very good return. His serve is not bad either. I think his lack of other weapons makes him vulnerable against some types of players.

Quite the opposite. Gulbis has a very big serve and huge ground strokes from both wing. To give you an idea of how big his shots are, he was able to hit through nadal in Wimbledon and took a set.
