Haas beats the colonel is a tight match.

Well done Haas!

Really good match. After a really, really close first set it's sad to see something like a double fault and an UE in a tiebreak make a huge difference.

Real quality through out the match, except some expetions, like the first set tie-break, both were hitting awsome backhands and go for out-right winners once they placed a serve.

The first serve did it for Haas in the third set as he won more than 90% of the points with his serve.

Props to Haas for great defending at times and nice net play.

Youzhny played well, but his serving was not as good as it could have been.

Youzhny's passion sometimes can get the better of him, which is odd, considering that Haas is more prone to bad fits in terms of frequency (not in terms of intensity, as we saw in miami :) )

All in all nice to see.

Haas served absurdly, 90% of first serve points won! But, it really sucked for Youzhny that he lost despite being broken only once, and on hitting the net chord at that. Still, Haas really picked it up after a weaker second set.

Haas looks like on a crash course for Nadal, though, unfortunately, he'll be the only one crashing in that match :).

The commentators sent something about there being 'no love lost between these two players' - does anyone know what they were referring to?

tommy acted like a lil kid at end of the 2nd set throwing his last service game with a DF on purpose because of some queationable calls

with so much experience you would think he d stay cool in that position

Nothing really. Just that it was a close match and losing it wasnt easy for Youhz.

No fights or anything like that.

it was in Paris, and both of them were celebrating the points very loudly.

Shame the retarded sky coverage had ended, I would have liked to see this one.

Sorry Misha, but I was with Haas this time.

Serving in the first set on both sides :worship:

I thought Tommy lost it after that argument with the umpire at the end of the second, but luckily he came back in the third. Next probably Monfils

A pretty OK quality match, watched it all the way. Still expected an even better encounter, knowing that these two are surely able to provide that.

Both single-handed BH were very good today, IMO. Including slicing, which is always great to see :yeah:

I second this your opinion.

A somewhat slower surface would have allowed for more frequent long rallies, which would've been cool to see given that Haas and Youzhny are nearly identical in the level of there backhands and forehands.

Still the few we saw were fun.

Wish I could have watched it. Its fun to watch one handed backhands.

it was a nice match. Misha should've won the first set, he played really great and was fully concentrated till the double fault in the tie-break. good comeback from him in the second set, too bad he couldn't pull it off

VERY very good, Tommy!! I hope he can stay one more round.

I especially glad to see that he could beat the stupid "military greet" Youzhny in this one. If you want to do that, then go back to Russia, maybe that's cool. But I can piss on your military antics after match.

I am happy for Tommy, but this match wasn't as entertaining as I hoped it to be. The reason was already mentioned. Both were just too dominant in their own serve games and the rallies were too short for my taste.

it was in Paris, and both of them were celebrating the points very loudly.
Maybe this time it had do with the point at 2:2, 30 all in the 2nd set where Youzhny celebrated an error from Haas with a big "Come on". The commentators criticized him and called it "bushlik" (spelling?). I learned a new word tonight. :D

VERY very good, Tommy!! I hope he can stay one more round.

Man, what's with the negative posting? At least he tries to be creative. I think it's funny.

Sorry I can't stand Youzhy one little bit. Not only because of his military greet, it started before, but his military greet made it worse and it doesn't belong nowhere on tennis court.

This match was a bit too serve dominant, although there were some good rallies in there especially in the first and third sets, and nice to see the slice backhand utilized to good effect. You could tell that both players were getting frustrated that they couldn't get into a rhythm not able to string anything together on the baseline. In the end, Haas showed a bit more creativity and variety in his play in the third set which got him the win.
