Karlovic in a very good day, 69% on first serve, 18 aces, 88% service points won.
Bellucci had 5 brak points but could n make it. It wasnt just enough against Karlovic, who had 6 break points (help) on game!!).

expected. karlovic is too tough of a nut for an inexperienced player like bellucci

Karlovic double breaks Bellucci !!! and finally wins a match. Ivo's 1st in over a month, thanks largely to the mini-clay court season he threw in after Wimbledon

belluci had 5 bps in the begining.(2 of those on karlo's second serves.) but karlovic's experience proved too much for him.
anyway go ivo.

... and i guess this on-form Karlovic on fast Cinci courts is part of Federer's "cakewalk draw" then

Karlovic IS cakewalk for Fed. Although the scores always SOUND close because Fed rarely breaks Ivo, but if you ever watch one of their many matches Fed just crushes him. Ivo doesn't have the movement to win off the ground with Fed, yet Ivo hangs back on 2nd serve points and tries to rally with him. Not so good strategy. If the set does go to a TB Fed has huge advantage because he wins 70-80% of Ivo's 2nd serve points. Only chance Ivo has is if he's making all his 1st serves in the TB.

This is 2008 and many mugs/pigeons have sneaked wins against Federer. I won't be surprised if Karlovic is among them. Besides Fed is usually shaky in the early round and Karlovic's games provides little rythm.
