It was a pretty long match, the scoreline is a little misleading, Acasuso didn't just go away. Simon saved lots of breakpoints again. But Simon seemed to in control most of the time.

I only saw the first set. They were really slugging it out and had some really, really long rallies. Simon seemed to attack every single short ball.

True about the scoreline being misleading. He seemed weary at the start of each set, then seemed to find some rhythm. Some long baseline rallies and plenty UE's by Acasuso. Took full advantage of Acasuso's second serve. Well done Gilles!! Keep it going.

Kind of expected. From what I saw, Simon was returning EVERYTHING and that frustrated Jose way too much. Acasuso missed many eaaaasy FHs.
Simon is an awful match up for hard-hitters. It was a good run for Chucho, nevertheless.

Acasuso wasn't really hitting hard this week, against Gulbis and Gonzalez he was playing passively like Simon normally does and today he started fairly passively although towards the end of the match Acasuso tried more to take the initiative. A lot of the time it was Simon who was dictating rallies.

This year's Chakvetadze on the ATP. Beating Federer trumps beating Venus, though...

Unfortunate, but not unexpected. Lose soon if you can, Gilles.

Acasuso blew away this match. How many breakpoints lost? 7?

Glenn, weren't you dedicating Acasuso's win to me?

With your predictive powers, no wonder you roll your eyes so damn much.

When exactly did Chucho blow away the match -- when Simon took the lead early? Or when, like everyone else Simon has beaten lately, he couldn't make good on break points?

Contrats to Gilles! :D How does he do it?

On to the quarters, where he faces another "useless" player -- at least in the eyes of General Message peeps stuck in 2005.

Gilles played great again, he has been so clutch on the big points. Keep it going :D

Gu, Murray is way more of a pusher than Gilles is.

Acasuso doesn't have the patience or tactical nous to play Simon the right way, so this result was far from a surprise.

Cilic should be able to finish off Simple Simon.

But beating the Wimbledon Champion trumps beating the wimbledon finalist. :p

Luck's a bitch. Chucho the HC clown had every chance to win.

I hate pushers, especially overrated ones. Simon is the definition of pusher.

Murray looks like Tursunov compared to Simon.
