Marat Safin or Sam Querrey

Safin or Querrey have to play two matches tomorrow. I think it would have a definite effect on their second match against Wawrinka.

They usually try to avoid this at all costs in tournaments like this but I guess there was no prospect for play for hours. The schedulers will get quite some slack for putting a first round match as the last of the day (if it was a second round match they would have been OK).

Yep.

Djokovic vs. Dancevic should have been after this match.

But of course it was the "feature" match and had to be played first  :retard:

I would be pretty furious if I were either of these players.

I'm neither of the players and I'm furious. Whoever wins can only hope the rain will delay the match with Wawa for next day.

So then they can play Wawrinka and Murray on the same day, or will they get "lucky" again and someone can play Murray and Djokovic on the same day? Or Djokovic and Nadal! Or Nadal and Federer!

Whoever wins can only hope the rain will delay the match with Wawa for next day. That wouldn't much help because this was a first round match so that'd just mean they'd delay the 2 matches in 1 day to another day. Definitely a crappy schedule, especially since it sounds like they knew rain would be a problem today.

Man, they could've at least put them on the Grandstand.... going on 2nd is standard practice when they are waiting around the night before, but to move them from the stadium to a court that has 300 seats or so is pretty shitty

especially considering the latter match will be played on the grandstand?

Court 1 is a really small court.

It doesn't matter, there are hardly any crowds in Toronto anyway. I have not seen any night match, but during the day, attendance was appallingly non-existant, both on centre and grandstand. :o

Just a general kind of question that isn't really related to the thread, but is this event bigger in Montreal than Toronto or is it basically like that in both places?

i wonder if it's possible for them to play three games in one day, if somehow they don't manage to play today because of the rain.

Because someone who's been there every day says it's been impossible to get on court 1 because a lot of the big name guys have been put out there for doubles and it's 3 and 4 deep just to try to get a glimpse because the court is so small... So I think the people are there, maybe just not in the stadiums..... though the crowd last night for Novak and Dancevic was pretty good for early in the week. Sometimes people say the same thing about indian wells because the stadium looks empty where the outside courts are all full to the gills so sometimes it's hard to tell on tv how successful an event is

If it continues to rain like it does right now, one of them might have to play THREE matches the day after tomorrow... :help:

Scheduled at court 5 now. Tournament organizers are idiots for making this happened (meanwhile Djoker and ROddick are safely into 3rd round)
