I speak a little Spanish since I learned it in school for a couple of years. Now it´s not that good anymore. I´m learning Portuguese now and somehow I always end up mixing up the 2 languages especially the words that sound similiar. :help:

Ferrero Forever

in the coria forums it says that spanish is similar to italian and I KNOW ITALIAN. is the way you pronounce words like italian, how you pronounce every letter? by the way i doubt anybody will care but english is my first language, but i also understand spoken arabic and maltese. If anybody wants to know maltese, then i'd be happy to help.

Lynne

Yep, I'd really like to learn Spanish as well...!! :)
And maybe also some other languages...:)

Nikki♥
07-16-2004, 12:45 PM
I think Spanish is a little more similiar to Portuguese though. Some of my Italian friends on MSN messenger don´t understand one single word when I write them something in Spanish or Portuguese or maybe they don´t want to understand me.

I'm not russian but "I hate you" shouldn't it be "ya nenavizhu tebya" - Alisa correct me please if I'm wrog. I always have problems haw to write russian using latin alphabet ;)
My native language is Polish, I know also English, French, Russian (let's say... ;) ) and learning Latin at school.

I think that spanish is a little similar to portuguese and italian, but only in a some words...

JuanquiLover, you're lucky to know many languages!!I like to learn Italian, but before I have to learn english...

holagirl56, te quiero juanqui = I love juanqui. Yo quiero juanqui is not correct because in spanish it's not necessary put the subject of sentence (yo) and "te" refer juanqui and it's repeat...mmm..because...yes...
sorry, i don't know if I explain..

My dad went on a holiday trip to Russia a few years ago and before going he thought it would be a good thing to learn some Russian phrases and words that´s why he bought the books. He did the same when he went to Turkey and to France so we have lots of dictionaries and other books in these languages lying around. :o

wow this thread is really interesting...it's great to see so many people take an interest in foreign languages!!! My first language is English (how boring!) but I can speak some Spanish because I lived in Valencia for a while (and I learned a few words in Valenciano too!!)...I also study French and German at my university in Australia. When I was at the Bangkok tournament last year and the Valencia tournament this year I actually spoke a little bit to JC in Spanish...he's very sweet!

well in Bangkok I just said that he'd played well and that I was looking forward to seeing him play live again at the DC final in Melbourne and that I was going to support Spain even though I was Australian etc etc.

And this year in Valencia he actually came up to me off his own accord in the clubhouse and said to me "you've come from far haven't you?" because he remembered me from Bangkok and probably some Aus Open practices that I went to so he knew I was from Australia and then I said I was going to be living in Valencia for a while and bla then he just asked me what I was going to be doing while I was there and stuff like that. It wasn't for very long...only a few minutes or so, but I was just so amazed that he remembered me and actually came to speak to me off his own free will...he's actually really approachable and not at all arrogant...a really sweet guy! Hope he gets back to being 100% fit really soon!

Spanish is spoken so quickly! (No duh) I'm okay with grammatical things and such, and when I have one or two minutes I can put together a sentence. How do you learn to speak spanish fluently????

Lalitha

To speak any language fluently, you got to speak regularly with someone who is fluent with. I know three Indian languages other than my mother tongue, but can speak only one of them fluently.

Sonia, I guess if you want to say you love a man in Spanish, you would`nt say just" te amo" that sounds a bit oldfashioned ( and more for literatur, or wrinting). NO? So many other sweet words in spanish as " Te adoro"- " me vuelves loca"- " Eres un cielo".

Go and live in Valencia!!! It's the best place!!! Not just for the obvious, but it's actually a really lovely city! I was living there earlier this year and am going back there to live next year...and they speak good Spanish there...I mean that as in the accent isn't too weird or anything like that

I want to study abroad sooo badly now!
That's good that the accent isn't weird because I couldn't understand anything they say. :D

Could anybody, please, tell me what I have to say in Spain when I want to have a date with somebody?

"¿Quieres quedar conmigo?" or "¿Cuando te va bien quedar?"

I think it would be something along the lines of: "eres el hombre más sexy, mono, guapo y amable del mundo"...not 100% sure though

I only understood very little of that conversation. What is the translation in english?

I know that you asked her how many years she's been studying spanish.

I just said to her that I only learnt my Spanish from chatting on the net to Spanish ppl, reading novels, listening to music etc. because it wasn't possible to learn it in my school and it's not offered at my uni either. But I found that spending 3 months in Spain this year really helped me because I went to a Spanish school and learnt a lot and that it's best to learn a language if one lives in that particular country...that's why I want to return to Spain next year. Then I just said that if I had any questions about Spanish, I'd ask Sonia.

Nothing too interesting lol
