It makes me sad to admit it but I have to agree Nicofan. I wish wish wish he would get a coach who would help him with that. It sounds like he still has the physical ability and of course talent to win, but that one ingredient is missing. Its all the sadder with all the impending Olympics. He had that mental game then but it has evaportated.

Still, he can win this match but Willie is no push-over. Nico will have to fight and believe in himself to come out the winner here.

I'm giving him until after the US Open, and if there are no changes (meaning no new coach), I'm sadly moving on. Not that he cares or anyone else cares , but for me - life is too short to watch this kind of craziness for years and years. They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result....and I'm not going there anymore.

I don't know if NF has watched the Nico's matches this year. This is the 1st time i see Nico playing since DC.

He started great, on fire, playing like in his prime. But, he has fear, fear to miss in the key moments, but the game is there, hitting the fh really hard and missing with the bh like always. The other thing he looks fit like never ever, he's incredible fit, if he can buy a new brain he can play maybe 5-6 years more.

Also, the problem in today's match is that Cañas is like a wall too, i can't believe the defense of this guy, it's amazing.

Really sadly, but the end is near. Probably like Coria and Gaudio. :bigcry: I hope he keeps trying like today.

With Nico being such good shape, he must want to keep playing but what is he doing to further that ambition? Yeah a new brain would be the thing if only  Getting Canas in the first round was some bad luck but he has had his chances today.

And I dearly hope he doesn't go the same path as Coria and Gaston but he is certainly on that course-he as to something soon to prevent that!

I don't need to watch this year's matches...I've been watching Nico enough to know exactly what is happening. He has no mental game. He's always been a nervous player, but now he's paralyzed by nerves and fear.

The end doesn't need to be near, that's what is so amazingly sad about this entire situation. He still has game. But he's DONE NOTHING to help himself to make his game relevant to today's game - and obviously the coaching situation. Think about it - it's been really almost a year now that he's been up in the air on a coach. He fires Gaby, then hires Pato - horrid mistake, then knows Pato isn't working for now SEVEN months, and still no new coach.

He may want to continue, but he is doing everything wrong in order to keep going.

And being fit is good, but I really believe that he's put too much emphasis on fitness at the expense of his tennis.

Whatever...
