My Wimbledon stories, reports and pictures thread.....

In traditional style, some stories and reports before the pictures :D

- Strangely busy at Wimbledon today, I've never seen the outside courts so packed. You know something isn't quite right when Montanes-Berlocq has plenty of people watching. Montanes actually played quite well  I think it might've been Berlocq making him look good. He's actually lost some weight, but fuck me he's bad.

- JMDP has cute his hair big time  I forgot to take photos though :retard: he may have beaten Snobel today, but Snobel definitely won the battle of the hairstyles.

- Terrible choke from Korolev. I only went to the match when I saw he was 5-3 up in the 5th, so I can't say what happened before that. But Berdych looked ready to tank the last game, but ended up winning thanks to Korolev. He did hit one monster forehand, but Korolev handed it to him on a plate with nothing shots and unforced errors.

- Safin must have known Fognini wasn't going to put up much fight, his practice session this morning was one of the most half-hearted I've ever seen :o

- Blake and Davydenko hitting together was the hugely impressive, both striking the ball very cleanly. I think they were inspired by the mighty Thomas Blake watching them :inlove:

- Bozoljac was getting taunted by the drunk Aussie fans for his shades :help:

- Horna self-destructed after losing the first set against Karanusic, disagreed with about 5 line calls in the tie break and smashed his racquet about 725 times at the end of the set. No way he was coming back after that.

- Some 90 odd year old guy asks Schuettler where he's from.....so Schuettler says Holland :spit:

- An intelligent Brit thought Nalbandian was Jamie Murray

- This Bellucci is good. I mean, he has a lot to learn on grass, but he's a hell of a talent. Top 20 is more than possible.

- Petzschner is another who impressed me. Hyung-Taik has his leg bandaged up pretty bad, but Petzschner was good. Very strong serve and some nice touches at the net. He'll cause Ancic some problems, mark my words.

- Sexy was looking as hot as ever watching his missus play.

- Sorry Gonzo fans, but he continues to go down in my estimation. Even after he's won, he refuses to do anything for fans. I saw many players lose today who still signed/posed for photos for fans.

- I never noticed it until now, but Rochus hits almost every shot with his tongue out :p

I actually watched more WTA than ATP today :tape: I shall have some better stories tomorrow ;)

Great points and pics as always. :yeah:

Although I disagree about Petzschner. I saw the first set against Lee and he just looks like a strong serve to me. Not much of a ground game and even his volleys were a little dodgy. He was probably playing with more self-assurance after Lee started struggling in the 2nd.

Today's little stories and reports....then the pics ;)

- Watched pretty much all of Troicki vs. Lapentti. Viktor was struggling with his 1st serve a lot at the start, but was pounding his 2nd. His game was ok, forehand could've been better though. Lapentti started off okay, but played a dire game to get broken. Then he called for the trainer a bit out the blue. Got some treatment on the top right hand part of his back, just below the shoulder. After the timeout, the injury became more apparent, he was rolling in his serve and lost any fight he had in him originally. Good win for Viktor, and he's a nice guy. He'll need to play better against Sexy though.

- Speaking of Sexy, what a guy  without doubt the most entertaining of the day. Straight away he got told off for having too much colour on his shirt. It seemed to annoy him, he was absolutely crushing Hernych's serve. The fun started the last few games when it was clear he'd win, he began showboating. I dunno if anyone has seen it, he played probably the shot of the championship to set up match point with a diving winner from the baseline, then he starts running around the court in celebration pumping up the crowd, great stuff. Blew kisses to Vaidisova when he won

- King Oscar, what a guy. Gotta love the vamosing and fist pumps when he wins points after losing about 15 games in a row. Saved 2 match points, both by serve-volleying :worship: I caught them on video. Pretty awful from Paulo, he'll probably lose to Chardy :o

- Gulbis vs. Isner was rather boring, needless to say.

- Almagro produced one of the all time great racquet smashes at the end of his first set. The crack could probably be heard from the other side of Wimbledon. He was timing the ball horribly for the first set and a half, but when he found a rhythm he had too much game for Granollers - surprisingly good volleys from Marcel though.

- Pretty easy win for Simon, but this Olejniczak dude is a brute. He looks more like a boxer than a tennis player :scared:

- Chardy vs. Gil was interesting. Chardy clearly has more weapons, bigger serve and more powerful groundies. But I like Gil's game, he's pretty small but he's nice to watch. I don't think either was playing their best tennis, but it was a close match, could've gone either way.

- Saw the end of the 3rd set between Cilic and Roger-Vasselin. Cilic was too strong today, he was serving extremely well. Roger-Vasselin had a set point in the 3rd but missed a return, and never really looked like he could win after that. Cilic was high-fiving his Croatian fans when he won :rolls:

- The Don's game is in a real state. I can't work out what his strategy is. He's not aggressive enough to hit his way to victory. And he's not solid enough to rely on his opponent making errors, he makes too many himself. Levine is a solid pro but has nothing really special about him, Young is a talented kid but he's wasting it away with brainless tactics at the moment.

- Ventura seemed to sprain his ankle when he slipped early against Schuettler. Credit to Rainer, he raced across with an ice pack to help Ventura :hatoff:. Didn't think Ventura would carry on, so props for the fight.

- I barely watched any of MVA-Minar, but I saw the last few points. MVA celebrated the win like he'd just won Wimbledon  sinking to his knees with his head in his hands. Amusing.

- Calleri absolutely destroyed Anderson from the baseline. In the 4th set, I can barely remember Anderson winning a rally unless Calleri made a silly error.

- Nice to see Safin work up a sweat on the practice court after yesterday. I suppose it was to be expected as he was hitting pretty big with Pics

- Djokovic and Ancic practicing together was fun. I'm rare in that I'm neutral towards Djokovic, I will say that I always enjoy watching someone who at least tries to entertain when he's on the practice court. A lot of players are very serious, it usually doesn't make for interesting viewing, the odd smile or game never goes amiss.

- Genius of the day award goes to the guy watching The Don and saying to his friend "look, there's the guy that reached the final in Australia and beat Nadal". Yes, yes it is. :retard:

- I barely watched any of MVA-Minar, but I saw the last few points. MVA celebrated the win like he'd just won Wimbledon  sinking to his knees with his head in his hands. Amusing.

He was praying to Lord Carlos. Could very well be his one and only ever grass victory, i.e. that's the closest he'll ever get to winning Wimbledon. ;)

Today's little stories and reports....then the pics ;)

- Speaking of Sexy, what a guy  without doubt the most entertaining of the day. Straight away he got told off for having too much colour on his shirt. It seemed to annoy him, he was absolutely crushing Hernych's serve. The fun started the last few games when it was clear he'd win, he began showboating. I dunno if anyone has seen it, he played probably the shot of the championship to set up match point with a diving winner from the baseline, then he starts running around the court in celebration pumping up the crowd, great stuff. Blew kisses to Vaidisova when he won

 What a man  :worship:

- King Oscar, what a guy. Gotta love the vamosing and fist pumps when he wins points after losing about 15 games in a row. Saved 2 match points, both by serve-volleying :worship: I caught them on video. Pretty awful from Paulo, he'll probably lose to Chardy :o

A few bits and bobs from today.....

- I'm not a huge fan of his but Tursunov was pretty funny after his practice, he was amused when some guy told him to grow his beard back. Was laughing and joking with some kids for about 10 mins, then he told Gasquet (who he'd been practicing with) to come out because the kids were getting bored with him

- For the first time ever, I watched Andreev and he wasn't hitting every ball as hard as he possibly can. It might've been due to the fact he was practicing with his missus though ;) (lucky bastard, Kiri is far too hot for him).

- Seppi and Bolelli were hitting together, nothing interesting to report though.

- Cilic vs. Nieminen probably had the best atmosphere of the day, only a small court but it was packed with Croats and Finns. I'm warming to Cilic, not really his game which isn't the most pleasing on the eye but he comes across as a good guy, really appreciates his support.

- Viktor :bigcry: what a chance blown. Had Sexy on the ropes at 2 sets up, but his level dropped and Steps' increased. Stepanek was getting burned at the net often early on, it seemed to take him 2 sets to figure out his best tactics.

- Surprised to get home and see Calleri and Almagro had both lost. I watched some of the first set of Calleri-Simon and most of the 3rd set of Almagro-Garcia Lopez. I can't understand how Mucho lost the 4th and 5th so poorly, he was crushing his shots when I was watching. Calleri was also dominating. He looks like he's carrying a few extra pounds though

- Lopez and Verdasco probably set a new world record for the number of fangirls to fit onto an outside court :o

- Genious of the day goes to the lady behind me at Mirza's match who simply didn't know the rules of tennis - she was asking someone to explain the points scoring system :worship:

Day 6........ (but possibly last day :tears: ).

- Rafito practicing with some junior with a big afro, looked a bit like ExcaliburII from MTF but I forgot to take any photos of him. I know he often practices with juniors, but this guy was simply unable to cope, I think he was a bit nervous and kept shanking the ball. I think I was standing next to Clay Death when he was practicing. "Wow, he looks much better in person than he does on tv, he actually looks like a real athlete here. I thought he was a bit chunky and unfit from his matches on tv" says the guy :worship:

- Hewitt is even more Australian than I realised. He actually fits the stereotype of saying mate at the end of absolutely everything. "good serve mate", "shall we switch sides mate?" and "thanks a lot mate" are just a few of the hundreds he came out with :help:

- Bjorkman was complaining about the condition of the baseline on the courts, to be fair I could see where he was coming from, on the practice court it was pretty bad.

- Tragic loss for young Kittipong Wachiramanowong :bigcry: was a wonderful sound every time the umpire had to say "game Wachiramanowong" though :inlove: unfortunately, I don't see him going too far, not enough weapons. His game looked more suited to clay, but I'm not sure how many clay courts he's played on in Thailand :o

- Lopez was serving out of a tree, surprisingly good performance from him and Verdasco in the doubles.

- Granollers is on absolute fire, he's playing out of his mind and makes the Bryan brothers look like doubles novices. Ventura is playing remarkably well considering the surface, there was one point where he hit 3 lob winners on the trot, all absolutely perfect. The last one was so good that as soon as it left his racquet, Granollers yelled out "oleeeeeeeee"

- Extremely hard choice for genius of the day, it seems Saturday brings out even more clueless British tennis fans than usual. Nomination for the guy in the queue who was analysing the matches, thinking he knows his stuff and then described Gilles Simon as a "powerhouse". But the winner must be the little old lady, who was watching Dinara Safina and was talking to her friend about the famous brother she had who also plays tennis. They discuss it for 5 minutes but still cannot remember who it is. So the young guy sitting next to her seems like he's about to put her out of her misery, and says "her brother does also play tennis....his name is Davydenko" much to my amusement. So the old woman goes "oooh yes, David Enko. I remember now" :spit:

- Quite amazing to see Andreev outplay Bhupati in a doubles match, but he did in their mixed doubles. Igor must be inspired by playing alongside Maria :inlove: quite ridiculous that he gets a big smooch from Maria then a kiss from Sania at the net, life doesn't get much better than that ;)

- The legend Dlouhy must be a funny guy, I've never seen Vaidisova laugh so much. Unfortunately I couldn't understand what he was saying. But he did have a long running dispute with Zimonjic all match in English :D

- That's pretty much it actually, I wanted to see Tomic play but he won so quickly it was over before I got the chance to go.

Good to read Marcel & Santi are keeping their level up. I was so impressed by their match against Bopanna and Qureshi. I know it's grass, but wow. The two complement each other so well too. Marcel can hit quite flat and hard, great passing shots. Santi on the other hand makes amazing angles and beautiful lobs.

I love them as a team and I see them going quite far if they can keep it up. They tore down the Challenger Tour last year as a team, and after this week I can see why.

Day 8......

- Federer was certainly not in JesusFed form today, an incredible number of shanks even by his standards. Schuettler was hitting with him and looked the better player :sport:

- Albert Costa schooling LaLo on the practice court was fun :worship:

- Speaking of LaLo, he congratulated Muzza for his win over Gasquet, saying "I watched most of it". They talked about it for a bit, Lopez ends up saying "you served like an animal in the last 2 sets", so Muzza responds with "I served like you" (see video - http://www.dailymotion.com/adeegee/video/x5zicp_lopez-and-murray_sport )

- Nadal and Ancic were the only 2 Quarter Finalists I didn't see practice today. I was going to the pessimistic Rafatard and suggest his injury might have prevented him from practicing, but I hear he did in fact have a hit later on

Onto juniors......

- Not hugely immpressed by Tomic. I mean, the kid has talent but he doesn't really use it properly. I can't wait to see this guy play Nadal, watching Tomic is like watching a match in fast forward, as soon as the point is finished he wants to start the next one. I think this contributes to his lack of thinking on court. I remember the thread on point construction on MTF - well basically it's the opposite of Tomic who likes to keep the rallies less than 5 shots. A win's a win though.

- To be honest no-one caught the eye that much. 6th seed Henrique Cunha of Brasil was solid if unspectacular. Cesar Ramirez the 3rd seed probably hasn't played too much on grass, he's a lot more physically developed than most of the other juniors so he kind of bulked his way through if that makes sense.

- Filip Krajinovic was probably one of the most impressive, took care of Ryan Harrison. Harrison certainly acted his age on court, throwing a number of strops about very little, he actually looks too young to be playing in juniors never mind ATP events :o Krajinovic was good though, just got on with the match and played well, pretty good in all departments and seems like a nice kid.

Filip Krajinovic seems to be quite well balanced and hope he makes it.

Good to see king Albert Costa showing LaLo who the man truly is. LaLo should play Costa, even more money, as he has saved his career.

Good work as always Adam.

- Filip Krajinovic was probably one of the most impressive, took care of Ryan Harrison. Harrison certainly acted his age on court, throwing a number of strops about very little, he actually looks too young to be playing in juniors never mind ATP events :o Krajinovic was good though, just got on with the match and played well, pretty good in all departments and seems like a nice kid.

they are both the same age Adam

Oooh I thought Harrison was younger. He looks about 10 :o Krajinovic has a bit of a young face still, but his frame is more developed.
