Interesting match. Monfils asked for treatment in the second set for his shoulder, Monfils broke him after that and Ivo was absolutely furious telling the umpire that Monfils is always faking injuries. :o

Monfils should have retired, he couldn't serve.

If his shoulder was fine he would have won easily.

Ivo was the far superior player in this match. Monfils had two lucky return games (that accounted for almost all the return points he won). Ivo was consistently pushing him to 30 or duece on the return. It was actually a 20 point difference in the end, so not as close as the scoreline suggests

Well,

There is one other guy who is faking injuries and is shitting in his pants right now, since dr.Ivo is in his part of the draw in Wimbledon.

Monfils hit 0 ace today, he definitely wasn't faking the shoulder problems.

Never seen Karlovic so pissed off, after he was broken after Monfils's long shoulder massage, he was smashing everything in sight.

Yeah, almost no big serves, there wasn't much power on his serve, and he won very few points with it.

Nice tantrum there from Ivo, including this fine line, directed at the trainer: "Give him everything." :haha:

If you watched the match Monfils clearly had a shoulder injury as his serve was pretty much just lobbing the ball in.

evidently a great match. i missed it. this Dr. Ivo (aka the tiebreak king) is good.

now it would be nice to see him win this event if possible.

Mental toughness is clearly not Monfils' greatest attribute. (cheap shot coming:) He's no Tiger.:)
Having said that, I'll also admit that the physical part of his game seems to be coming along. Fingers crossed that he's healthy for Wimbledon.

but still karlovic is better player in this match. Monfils had some lucky returns like croat123 described. ;) other there wouldn't be tiebreaker in this match.

I see where this is going. But in the interest of civility let's just end it on this, Ivo was the better player today; with or without Monfils' injury.

No, let's end it on this. Congrats to Karlovic for winning but the fact that Gael took him to two tie breaks with a bum shoulder speaks volumes. Well, it atleast says this - Don't expect Karlovic to go far at Wimbledon.

You are heavily obsessed, aren't you? I haven't seen any other poster who is writing about certain player in 99% of his posts. It is kinda :retard: reading the same stuff again and again and again... If you joined MTF to express your hate and obsession about someone you have mistaken the place. Shrinks are way more suitable for that.

Why shouldn't we expect Ivo to go far at Wimbledon... because he didn't draw your favorite player Blake? That would have been an easy win as always. The draw does look good. I expect him to go far for a change. Blake on the other hand...he's never won more than two rounds has he?

By the way, today's match with Monfils is one of those where the final score looks a lot closer than the match was. Ivo won 38 return points, Monfils won 16. This was a lot like an Ivo vs. Federer match, close score but it's pretty clear who's dominating.

Again, congrats to Ivo but he aint going far at Wimbledon. Yea, my boy Blake is schizo so yes, he could lose to karlo. He could also decide he wanna be a giant & beat him in str8ts. Never know with my boy.

Here is very interesting article.
From Sun sentinal blogs
http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_tennisblog/2008/06/fed-back-to-coa.html
"After Ivo Karlovic, the 6-foot-10 Croatian living in Aventura, reached the semifinals at Nottingham this week, I asked him if Slavin Bilic, coach of the surprising Croatian team in Euro 2008 had called and offered him a seat on the bench for tonight's match vs. Turkey, would he think about kissing off the tournament and catching a flight to Vienna, where the match will be played. He thought a moment, then broke out in a big grin. Yeah, he admitted. He would THINK about it. Post scrip: Karlovic, the defending champion, beat Gael Monfils today and is into the Saturday final. He's also now played four tiebreaks in a row"

Yes, I am sure he is because Ivo "Mr. Lose in First Round of every slam" Karlovic is in his quarter of the draw.

I was very impressed by Ivo's net game and drop shots, with the occasional bhdtl thrown in. He was much more than a serve to-day..in fact I don't think he hit that many aces, but he could return Monfils serve and often took him to Ad & his groundies are so improved.

The interviewer asked him if his strong point was his serve, and Ivo said no, it was actually his backhand. LOL Ivo. Nice sense of humour and no stammering. Good for him and thanks to his great coach.
