There's been so many new people and to tell the truth, I can't really keep up with everyone :help: So, introduce yourself here with a few words - even if you're a regular and have been writing here for ages.

I was also thinking of making a census with all gulbistards, so include your age/location/name/whatever. :p

hey erica, great idea! XD

i'm aliah. just joined the forum recently after lurking for awhile. hah. i'm from singapore and i'm 23.

random facts about me:
first time digging someone who's younger than my age. i don't naturally go for younger boys so ernests is the first!
i just graduated from uni. currently semi-bumming and looking for a job.
favourite show: the office
have a psychotic liking for cotton candy.

ok, i'm done.

good idea! it's hard to remember the real names of everyone, I'm always afraid I'll mix them up!

I am cath or catherine from Luxembourg I am 22 (almost 23 but let's pretend that's not true  ). I have one year to go at university to finish my masters degree. I study French literature and have also done some linguistics in the past, because I want to be a French teacher later on. I'm at uni in France, in Strasbourg, which is a beautiful city and I'll be so sad to leave next year

I've been a great tennis fan since 2001 or something, back then Ferrero was my favourite player! I was watching less tennis last year, because it kinda lacked that special player to me, since ferrero wasn't in his best shape anymore. I had been supporting him through his tough times and all, but him not being at his top level made tennis kind of uninteresting. and I got bored by the nadal/federer rivalry although I like both of them. anyway I'm back in the whole business I'd say. I've been playing some tennis myself, but I suck so badly that it gets frustrating sometimes  I'm a little better at badminton, play it in competitions, but I'm still rather... not good :p

apart from that I like going to concerts and I love travelling and I looove languages :p

one word about what I don't like: meat! I've been a vegetarian fo soooo long and can't even imagine that will change in the future.

I hope that was what you expected erica ;)

All right! I'm Leen, I'm from Belgium, Dendermonde about 30 minutes driving from Ghent.

Like almost everyone here, I'm 22 almost 23 (in september) :p which makes me feel old as well :o , I study veterinairy medicine and hope to graduate in 2 years from now and to emigrate and treat cows in the south of France :p.

I started watching tennis in 2001 when Kim Clijsters lost that amazing final against Capriati at RG and I spotted Ernests when he won the Mons Challenger last year.

I've never played tennis myself and I don't really intend to learn it but I love swimming, unfortunately I had to quit that because of medical reasons  I volunteer as a head-animator in some kind of youth movement that organizes summer-camps (Kazou aka J&G for the Belgians around here ;) ) , in which I'm also a member of a task-groupe (or whatever you call it) that tries to integrate solidarity and durability in the organization's policy.

I guess that's it :wavey:

I'm Alessandra, I'm 30 and I'm from Florianópolis/Brazil. Being a tennis fan since 97 cause Guga introduced the sport to most of brazilian crazy for football and Senna until that year. My faves therefore, are the old league, Moya, Safin, Guga (just retired) and now I'm moving to the newbies in the game, Nole, Rafa and recently Ernie! So then I can still enjoy the game! :)

Hi all :wavey:

My name is Jolien,
I'm 20 ('88 is a good year:rocker2:) and I'm from Belgium
To be honest, I'm a bit of a forumilliterate so if I do anything wrong don't be too mad at me:unsure::angel:
(see I've finally learnt how to use emoticons on this board:D)
I know I don't post much, but that's because of the exams and I'm a bit unsure about my english

I don't play tennis, but I like watching it (and its players ofcourse:p)
The first match I remember seeing on tv, was Henman-Ivanisevic at Wimbledon, I probably remember it because of the many rain delays
I just like to watch almost any sport if it's on tv (except football)
I play volleybal, for more then 10 years already (now I feel old)

what's with all the Belgians wanting to emigrate?

maybe it's the weather:shrug:
but I don't want to emigrate (yet)

Hello I'm Di:wavey:

I lurked in the old thread for a while, then started posting in there before we got a Forum for Ernests. Discovering him, made me want to find out lots about Latvia;) Its been a nice journey of discovery so far;)

I am doing law, I have always been interested in the laws of the land:lol: I just want always to see justice being done, but recognise the law is an ass sometimes:) I want to work in a lawcourt as an usher,or as a personal injury adviser when I've finished my course.

I am quite shy because I have a learning disability, but I think coming in here was the best thing I ever did.:)

Besides studying law, I am trying to learn French and German and I enjoy trying to learn Latvian too;)

I also help kids aged 8-14 to enjoy sports, I am helping to organise a summer sports club for them, starting next month.

I love football too and motorcycling. I love sports in general really.

Besides that, I like all kinds of music. I want to travel more soon too. I have a special affection for Norfolk, a County in England:inlove: I am from Derbyshire though, 3 hours away:lol:

Its been really nice being in here, and I am so glad there are so many of us Gulbistards now.:):) May we grow and grow;)

hi everyone

i'm another ex-lurker who finally decided to join. my name is bozica [which literally means goddess :)], i come from croatia and i'm a law student.
i speak english, [haven't use it for ages, this will get me in shape :)] german & somewhat italian.

lately i don't have that much time to be up to date with all the new young tennis players, so i noticed ernests for the first time when he was playing in zagreb this year. at first i was really impressed by his game...the fact that he's also very good looking came to me afterwards, especially seeing him in RG. he really looks great in red :D

don't know how much will i be active here, i was feeling stupid just stalking you guys :D and you never know, maybe ernests is reading this so i want him to know he's got fans all over the world

Hello you lot! :wavey: I would have posted on this thread before if I'd known about it, but I just found it now, lol

About me... ermmm... Well, first thing is I'm a dancer. I started dancing properly (taking classes) when I was three and just never looked back! I do ballet mostly, but I love all forms of dance: tap, modern, jazz, contemporary, street, hip hop, salsa, a bit of everything really! I would recommend it to everyone, as exercise - the health benefits are enormous (unless you're like me and do too much lol I'm laid up with a pulled muscle at the moment!) - or just for fun, it's great! The endorphines are good too ;) I couldn't live without it! :)

Anyway enough about me, I'm really pleased to meet all of you, everyone's stories are amazing and you all have really lovely names! :)

Well, since everyone's posting here, maybe I should, too. What else can you do at 11 at night when you're a temporary insomniac ? I mean, I've already cleaned the house. But anyway.

I'm Leanne, I'm 17....despite the fact that I still fill weird about drooling over Ernests  Um...I love cooking, and I've catered a lot of parties (well, half-catered) without pay :o and am tying to get people to pay for my cooking skills. Also, I'm still trying to get my driver's license, but it's being a slow process for some reason.

 I really don't have anything impressive to say, so I'm gonna stop.

hey im camilla! im italian... i've been into tennis since i was 2 (old times when i went to see my parents playing tennis, and remained off court trying to paint the ball red with clay = ). But the boy who brought me to follow professional tennis was Lleyton Hewitt, back in 2001, when he became n.1 (I think i was kinda in love with him... ahahah, you know i was 15). My favourite tennis players are Ernests and Rafael Nadal.
I've started to watch every Ernests match I can since he played against Novak in Paris, in May, because in that moment I was really struck by his tennis.
...What else? I live near Venice and study Law, even if I'd rather devote my life to literature, arts and philosophy = ). im also very fond of music and old movies!

Let's introduce myself because I'm pretty new here.
I'm Ellen from Lokeren, in Belgium. I turned 20 at the 19th of July.
I studied IT but now I'm going into a completely different direction because sitting at a desk all day long drived me crazy. Now I am in my last year of childcare (don't know if its the right name but my plan is to start a daycare, preferably in a warm and sunny country because I hate Belgium).

I love sports...especially tennis, soccer, cycling, f1, swimming and athletics. I'm a tennisfan since I saw the Wimbledon final of 2001. I'm playing badminton because I had a lot of knee-problems when I played tennis.

Eventually I was a Roddick fan, but not anymore!! I just love to watch a good tennismatch but there are some players I like a bit more. Like Nadal, Djokovic, Federer, Del Potro, Ancic, Safin and in first place there's Ernests ;)

I love travelling (by plane, I'll never go on a boat because I'm terrified of open water)
My dream is to learn how to fly but then I'll have to save money first because I love shopping too much!
Ehh, what else? :D Oh I saw there was a vegetarian in the house, I'm one too Cath ;)

I think that's enough :wavey:

Hi all! I'm Courtney from Texas. I get a real laugh out of reading all of the posts about Ernests. It seems really fun around here.

I don't play tennis (which I regret now, I should have listened to my dad and started to play when I was younger), I just watch it. I've been around it my whole life because my dad builds tennis courts. I am 22 years old, I will graduate from university in December, and I am studying history and Spanish.

Go Ernests! :)

I'm going to graduate school. My ultimate goal is to be a Mexican/Latin American history professor, so I have many more years ahead of me.

Hey, I'm a vegetarian too! Go us!

I realised I started this thread, but I never introduced myself? I have a bad memory indeed.

So: My name is Erica and I'm a proud Gulbistard :p I'm from Finland, but currently living in Montenegro, voluntary working for a year, desperately trying to learn Serbian and simply conquering the Balkans. I just finished high school this spring, so when I go back home I'm going to study teaching.

Tennis has been a huge part of my life forever - I've been playing since I was a little girl, even tho I mostly concentrate on watching these days. Other than Ernests I love Marat Safin [:hearts: we have a long, rocky history.. as every other marat-fan, I'm sure!] and the rest of the Russians and also Novak. To be honest, there aren't too many players I strongly dislike [or maybe there is, but I'll try and keep the hatred away :p]

Welcome all to Ellen and Courtney! Hopefully you'll enjoy it here in Gulbisland. :wavey:

I know Ernests for a while, I also loooove Roger Federer, I acctually have a RF t- shirt:) I am not a fan of Nadal, acctually I kinda hate him.. :)
So anyways, I saw this, that in Mayasia aren' t any big tournaments and that is bad to be a tennis fan there..:

Malaysia does have a massive Challenger in November, but it attracted a joke of a field last year. I read that the conditions were murderously hot and humid - the stadium was open-air but shaded, but still... :o I wouldn't walk outside for 10 minutes in my country let alone play competitive tennis for an extended period of time during the hottest part of the day.

I wouldn't even call it a tournament, it's just an exhibition :p And Blake, euw. I wouldn't pay hundreds to see him.

Last year there was a proper Challenger tournament after the exho. That's the one that matters. I hope they'd get a better field this year - it was the richest Challenger in the world last year.

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I'm Stella from Corsica. I read this forum for a long time, now I would like to take part. But I'm not sure of my English, so excuse me in advance…

I'm a fan of Ernests since RG 08. I was really impressed by his pure talent, his playing style, his serve…(and I daily visit the site of Zahirah and Erica about Ernests!)
What else… I'm a football supporter and I live in an island where the rain is long-expected (it's really sunny and windy here!)
I love music, cinema, treking in corsican mountains, go to the beach (numerous here), windsurf, photograhy.
Oh, and I plan to go to RG next year (it's only an hour and a half by plane).

That's all, haha

Yeah, that's right: very nice name. When I was 6 i hated my name (Camilla), and I wanted to be named Stella instead! = ) You are from Corsica, wow, I love your island. I went there on vacation 2 years ago, and I enjoyed it a lot! Where do you live exactly?
I'd like to go to RG next year, but I just hate the way they have to allocate tickets... = (

BTW, Welcome!! = )

Thank you Bozica and Camilla!!
I live in Bastia (north of Corsica), a little town where I can see 4 others islands (italians) : Capraia, Elba, Pianosa and Montecristo (and sometimes the seacoast of Italy!)
For RG tickets, I know, it's a problem. If you go to RG next year, maybe we can meet each other over there…

Bastia, wow! I kinda had the feeling you are from a place I visited, I just dont know...when I was in Corsica I went to Bastia, too. I disembarked in Bastia's harbour (and I remember I had some great food nearby: maybe it didnt hurt that I was starving = ) Then I visited all the northern coast of Corsica, and stopped mostly in Calvi. Great places!
If I manage to go to the French Open, I'd love to meet you there. you and anyone else...

Hey Di, thank you. "bienvenue" :yeah:
I support my hometown team SC Bastia of course! We are now in Ligue 2 but we have a not-bad football history. Here's the link, in English for you ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SC_Bastia

And we have also a terrible moment in 1992 (may, 5) when a grandstand had collapsed making 18 dead and 2800 wounded. I was here (I was not wounded but very very shell-shocked)… So, we support our team twice over, with tenacity.
I was thinking… I was In England (Brighton and London) a week before the catastrophe. I love these places. Good souvenirs nevertheless :)

Stella, if you want to chat about football, theres the Olympic Chat-Thread that me and Ellen have opened up again,so football lovers can chat there. You are welcome to join Ellen and me in there OK:hug::secret: Its so that we don't bore people in the other Chat-Thread that don't like football:)

Hi everyone!

I'm Frankie and I'm from England. I'm new here! I first saw Ernie at RG 07, but don't really remember much, other than him looking very young and beating Tim Henman! Then, I stumbled across his match at RG 08 against Blake on the TV almost by accident, and I couldn't believe the transformation! I fell in love immediately with his wonderful hair, and a few minutes later with his exciting tennis!! Of course, I have found being an Ernie fan almost as nerve-wracking as being a Marat fan at times (I wish he would try not to send his forehands to the moon, and watching the Acasuso match at Toronto almost got me pulling my hair out!) but that's why we love him! And as for his smile and his lovely interviews! :) I was lucky enough to watch him play against Isner at Wimbledon this year and get his autograph. I was about 3 feet from his chair during changeovers and it was so hard not to reach out and fluff his hair!

Anyway, that's it really. This is so exciting to find lots of other Gulbis fans! :)

Hehe - will power certainly! I think it was only because I was totally awe-struck and frozen to the spot, because I couldn't quite believe that he was actually real AND even more gorgeous in real life AND only a few feet away from me AND winning the match! More to the point, I looked stupid wearing a silly hat as it was about the only day of summer in the UK, so I didn't really want to attract attention to myself!!) :)

Hi Ellen & Estrela. It's nice to meet you all.
Yes Frankie I was there. It all went from exciting to just painful to watch, then i was hopeful in the second set, sure he would win in the 3rd until it was 5-4 for Gaba and then out of nowhere Ernie was 40-0 down and he lost. After the match i felt empty and kept pouting(people must have thought i was crazy :o).I didn't even get to talk to him or something cause he dissapeared for the rest of the day.I started to question my sanity at some point cause every player I saw started to look like him :D:p I'm just not a lucky person:awww:(although i got a pic of shirt change from the front that i will post later)

when is the Metz tournament? I would say I'd go with you, Dendermonde is very close to Lokeren, but I think I won't have time with school. If I'm rostered to work in the animal hospital at school that week, I really have to go or they fail me even before the exams have started :(

I was planning to go to Metz, I even convinced one of my friends to come with me.
But we're both not good at organisation and planning of things, we would have taken the train cause my friend's parents wouldn't let her drive so far and i still haven't got my drivers license yet.
And even if we were good at planning, my foot is in a plaster for four weeks since this week.
