I hope Nadal will be seeded to play Lopez or Llodra, but of course it will be a grass court giant like Simon or Seppi.

Actually Seppi has more chances to beat Nadal on grass than Feli.

I would love if Faker draws Soderling in the first round.
O what a story that would be at MTF.
The toad eliminates the Faker

30. Gael MONFILS (FRA)
:bigclap:

Really hope he makes the most of this opportunity though and doesn't play like he did against Davydenko last year...

I'm surprised they have Ferrer seeded above Roddick.

Baghdatis' ranking is 25. He's seeded 10th! A great example of the alternative seeds of Wimbledon.

I'm surprised they have Ferrer seeded above Roddick.

Yeah, I see that they bumped Baggy and Hewitt based on past Wimby/grasscourt form so it's a surprise that they have Ferrer ahead of Andy.

You know there is an actual formula to determine the seeds. You make it seem as if they are just placing guys wherever they feel like :wavey:

Ferrer is quite a lot of points ahead of Roddick in the rankings.

Andy only got to QF last year and 3rd round previous year, and went out in the SF of Queens this year, so he doesn't have an enormous number of grass points to add.

Sorry, I'm not all that familiar with how Wimbledon decide the seeds, I know they do change the seeds around a bit, I had presumed it was at their discretion

EDIT: I presume they generally just take previous grass-court performances into account... has Ferrer got many points on grass in recent years?

It's something like

(Ranking points + Grass points in past 12 months + 75% of best tournament in previous 12 months)

So Roddick would have [2280 + 100(Queens 08) + 250(Wimbledon 07)+ .75*225(Queens 07)] = 2799

Not enough to overtake Ferrer who has 2905 + a handful of grass points

Gasquet bumped above Blake too...

As he should be. Richard deserves at least a top 8 seeding based on last year. Plus, it's just one spot.

Is this the first time that Llodra is seeded at a Grand Slam?

Kiefer should be 24th seed...it's not his fault he couldn't collect points 2 years ago

I prefer the way they do it here
They should doi it the same way at RG

:ras: and he hasn't beaten any grass court "giants" as of lately...

yea this could be his chance to get out of the low he's experiencing

baghdatis

10th is what Baggy deserves! He plays great on a grasscourt, as his previous reults show.

Whoever has Baghdatis in their section of the draw will be very lucky though its not like Berdych or Blake have exactly lit it up lately either.

why they didn't put roddick to no.4 since he was runner up twice?

Those happened too long ago. I think the ranking accounts for the last 2 possibly 3 wimbledon placings and he has only gone to the 4th and qtrs in the past 2 years. That wasn't enough to make up for his poor showings in other tournaments.

Mimi
06-19-2008, 08:41 AM
thanks, i thought the wimby officials also counted the very old results :wavey:

it would help roddick to get to semi if he is seeded no.4

Tomorrow 10 am London time is the main draw - so it'll probably be an hour after that that it becomes available.

I don't think there is live coverage.

Given the farcical nature of what happened in Roland Garros, I'm not too disappointed.

Surprise seeds:rolleyes:

Just put the ATP ranking and delete the injured players.
You have same results

RG should put Nadal as the 1st seed next time. So we have a tiny surprise in case of seeding:rolleyes:
