Halle Final: Federer def. Kohlschreiber 6-3 6-4

The Emperor of Grass played some brilliant tennis to dispose of the last german resistance. He wins another Halle tournament and he's on his way for another Wimbledon win. Kohlschreiber played some good tennis at times but overall he was no match for The Emperor of Grass. The Emperor of Grass is a cyborg who was programmed to play on this surface. He comes from the future and probably will take easily another 2-3 Wimbledon titles before he goes back to his world. Ok is just what CD or DVD would say.

I think Roger does good playing Halle instead of Queens.

You see Nadal and Djokovic, they will try their best to have the edge over the opponent in Wimbledon. It will probably be a stressful match.

Halle's grass is almost identical as Wimbledon's . In Queens it is quite faster and different to one just few miles away .

It's Halle, ffs. Kolschreiber was his opponent in the final. Nadal and Djokovic are contesting the Queens final. That should tell you all you need to know.

Let's put things in perspective. MonoFed would have won this title without breaking a sweat, nevermind '06Fed.

That said, we can all see how much Mickey Mouse titles mean to Fed this year. Pictures just in from his Halle celebration:

Last time I watched Halle it was looking much faster than Queens. Queens always played somehow not like you would expect from grass-court, more a base-line game. I also heared that Sampras never did well at Queens - how comes if it is so fast?

Good win from Roger. I expected him to win the title but to not drop serve all week is superb.

People who thought he would be stuffed after the RG drubbing he received got it wrong - the fact that he had so little chance made it easier for him to dismiss, in my view - as just one of those days where he really didn't have a hope. He shook it off very quickly this week and will be out at Wimbledon to make the point that there are 3 people still able to win Grand Slams this year and he wants the last two.

Yes, ironic isn't it? If he'd lost a tough 5 setter by 9-7 or something similar, it would probably grate on him more than the schooling he received. And that's probably true for any pro, even though getting over good or bad losses is part of being a pro, I would imagine the close losses are harder to forget.

Exactly, the fact that it's only the second time in his entire career taht he wins a tournament without losing his serve or a set isn't a coincidence. Yes he didn't beat any grass court giant but he wanted to remind everyone that he wasn't mentally destroyed as some had thought.

One wonders, who is a grass court giant these days? I dont think there are any, that's why Nadal does so well. He comes off Roland Garros with infinite confidence and carries it thru to Wimbledon. He is a great player to be sure, but there really are not many players who can compete over best of 5 on grass. Hard courts are a different story.

Once again.

Roger has played Halle since 2003.

If anything, Djokovic and Nadal play Queens to get away from HIM, not the other way around.

Playing and winning at Halle has always worked for him and for 5 years, he won Wimby straight afterwards. There's nothing wrong with that formula so why change?
Nadal played in Halle last year and lost early. He moved to Queen's this year. I don't think Roger's the one who's avoiding anything.

The it works is in like October someone goes to Roger Federer and says Roger please paly Halle. And just for showing up I will pay 1 Million pounds. So Roger signs a contract sating that he promises that he will play in Halle.unless he is injuryed and they prob have a clause stateing that he not allowed to play in any other tourin that week.
Samething happened with Nadal for queens. It how the smaller tournies under the GS and MS make there money

Of course it's all about money but I'm sure deep down inside Federer was mighty glad Rafa, Djojo and even Roddick pre-committed to Queens. This way he could build his confidence up the pansy way.

No Spartan this Federer is :p

Lol, you really are stirring it up, aren't you! I'm equally sure that you can have no idea what Fed thinks deep down inside. Wishful trolling thinking on your part methinks.

5 in a row in Halle and still not a set lost!

I'm sure in reality he concentrates on himself and how he's playing and really doesn't give a shit where the rest of them pull up on this week or that week.

Yeah right! What do you think he's thinking about while he's having someone trim his nails and put on clear nail polish ;)

Nadal has played Queens since 2006. He played Halle in 2005 I believe.

Rafa keeps avoiding Halle as the chance of facing Waske is higher

His feet are a bit bony and veiny but I've seen far worse.

Federer doesn't hide in Halle. Perhaps that's why Rafa and Novak, who both came to the pros after Roger had already started going to, and winning, Halle, chose to go to Queens.

Maybe they're hiding from HIM? :)

Why would Djokovic and Nadal go to Halle? They know their only chance of winning a grass court event in their careers is if they play at Queens. It's a smart and logical decision.

Yet more images in from today's Halle final. I suppose that when you're having a year liked Fed is, any tournament win is like winning a grand slam.

First one is Federer in his Halle blazer.

The rest are post match celebrations.

You have way too much time on your hands, sir.

I sort of hope he wasn't serious. At the same time, it makes it all the more hilarious if he was. Especially when he ordered Roger to "get up".

Yeah I hear Nike has a new outfit for Fed this year - a white pleated tutu (zipped up backwards of course)

And don't worry it not as bad as it sounds - I'm sure Federer will take the time to shave those lovely legs of his.

Why didn't federer play the queen's tournament this week where the REAL competition was??? he was scared of losing to nadal just before wimby and get is confidence crushed yet again.

To the people who keep saying this... are you really that stupid, or are you just taking the piss?

He's been playing Halle before Rafa and Faker even turned pro. A better question is why don't they go to Halle and challenge Fed instead of hiding at Queens.

Anticlimactic final. Kohlschreiber was mostly a spectator in Fed's service games, and his game plan was much the same as Baghdatis' - hit at the sharpest angle possible into Fed's BH side. Apart from solid serving, Fed didn't play all that well, particularly in the first set; he did overpower Kohlschreiber in a few baseline rallies, and his topspin BH was sometimes excellent, but it was mostly down to defending well and winning the points that mattered by junkballing Kohlschreiber to death (wicked slices). Also taking advantage of Kohschreiber's wide BH swing by sometimes hitting straight back at him. Not pretty, but it did the business.

Last time I watched Halle it was looking much faster than Queens. Queens always played somehow not like you would expect from grass-court, more a base-line game. I also heared that Sampras never did well at Queens - how comes if it is so fast?
No, Halle is slower than Queens. At least seems to me that way.
I think that Queens remained fast grass for some time now. Are you sure that it is slower than Halle?
Roddick won there few times in a row!!!
