Djokovic will have 5360 points, and will break his old record of 5280. I would expect this record to be even higher.

Not just that. Every player who was ranked 1st since 2000 had less points (I don't sure for Hewitt though). And Nadal was never 1st!

Only Federer, Nadal, Agassi and Sampras had more points since 1994 (I think that even before but the ranking system was very different back then).

Yep sure enough the bar has been raised another couple of levels this year. Got to the point where Fed has seriously got to be looking at reaching finals (and winning more than half) just to hold onto his world #1 ranking.

The top 3 just gobble up the ranking points. It's like nothing I've ever seen. It's like the better Djokovic gets, the better Nadal gets.

Yes, this was some kind of today's WTA ranking system.

Don't worry, once Federer is old then Djokovic/Nadal will be number 1 for sure.

Seconded. And absurd - Nadal had more than 6.000 points and didn't reach 1st place. Seems to both Nadal and Novak play in wrong time called Federer;)

I don't think the game has basicaly moved anywhere after Federer. Nole & Nadal have introduced some unimportant touch-ups but their's games are overall worse.

Give them some time 'overall'. They're tennis kids afterall. Roger started his rocket at the 21.

The thing i hope for Fed now is NOT how his reign at the top is getting longer and longer. The focus maybe is how he surpass 14 grandslams record on his bag.

No matter if finally he will fall to no.2 or 3 but keep winning at least 1 GS a year till he 30, he will collect 16 or 17 GS though, it'll be enough to seal him as the greatest of all time.

allez roger!!

Fed's peak was 8200 points. You can't really compare it with Sampras et al because of point inflation.

I calculated Sampras points at his peak by today's system and it turned out to be just 6725
(7th April 1994) while Federer had 8370 points at the end of 2006.

You can come up with multiple systems for comparison that will equalize the two ranking systems and give you an accurate picture. Sampras would come close to 7000 points at the peak of his results. 8200 is something that we'll probably never see again.

That's true, but how would 5300 compare after accounting for points inflation? You have to make the conversion.

Same thing really. Nadal and Djoko have higher point totals at #2 and #3 than did other #2's and #3's in other years. I came up with an equalized system a year ago, but can't find the file. Maybe I'll make a new one. :)

Rafa has actually worked very hard this year (:wavey: Rotterdam and Dubai) to make sure he didn't pass the 6000 mark. He had 5980 (maybe 5930), but never more than 6000.
