Baggy is kind of useless now. I had a tiny bit of hope for a good match but as soon as Baggy got broken in the first set I knew it was going to be pretty straightforward.

I was only talking from Baggy's perspective. We both know that the result is not likely to change even if Baggy played 10 times better than he did today. I never forget how good Federer is;).

I'm a FedFan and 4 & 4 over Baghdatis is not that impressive. Fed better start pulling it together a little quicker than this. Yes, he is winning, but if his game was where it should be, he'd be rolling over some of these guys.

It's a solid win...BUT I hope he has a harder test in the finals against Philipp ( if all goes well)b/c playing blake on grass is useless @ best,,or a false sense of confidence @ worst.At least baggy made the finals last year & plays tough @ SW-19.

Fed has always struggled in the early rounds and that coupled with Baggy's more than decent performance means that Fed's game is fine on grass until now.

I don't get it. This was a good win for Fed. I know Marcos has been injured but is he really a pushover? Roger won in straight sets against someone who is pretty good on grass. He was a semifinalist at Wimby last year (lost to Djokovic) in a 5 set battle..

Marcos is no push-over. I think I can judge, as I've seen his matches in Halle in person. Too bad I couldn't watch this one.

Fed's footwork is still really average, he often attacks the net too early instead of waiting for his opponent to be on the backfoot and then hit an approach shot.

i expect a 3 setter against Kiefer, don't know who'll win this one.

Well, I think that 4 & 4 over Baggy IS quite impressive, actually. Baggy's a mercurial character who blows hot and cold, and can be a danger on any given day if he blows hot. From what I saw of the match, he played pretty well, but Fed controlled it and him all rather nicely. I'm not sure what you were expecting - 0 & 0? 2 & 1?

Well as always, there are a lot of various opinions on how Fed is playing. As for my expectations, no I do not expect 0 & 0 or 2 & 1, but some more convincing wins better come along at some point if he is really going to regain his confidence, which has obviously been somewhat shaken this year. I personally still don't think he's 100% physically yet. I knew a guy that had mono and it took him 4 to 6 months to get totally 100% again. Guess we'll just see how this year progresses. As for Baghdatis, he's not exactly tearing it up this year, he's 9-7, and is not exactly full of confidence himself.

The djokovic Battle was last year in the quarter finals.

Still not an excuse..Marcos could have produced a much better performance. I expect at least 4th round at Wimby, if he is given a decent draw.

Marcos was also in the final of Halle last year. He knows how to play on grass. Beside this he is now coached by Peter Lundgren, who surely could give him some extra infos on Roger ;)

It was a nice match to watch at live at the stadium. Some great rallies between them. Roger was much more focused in this match compared to his match against Vacek and the movement was better.

I agree with cha. I don't get why some expect Roger to walk over Marcos. Even Roger thinks Marcos is a threat. I like Marcos and I expect him to do well if not injured,
