Good fightback from Andy despite several injury scares. Brilliant point to get the break in the 3rd :yeah:

Should beat Roddick tomorrow I think.

I saw only the first set and parts of the second. Good win for Murray.

Andy fell and squeezed his thumb with his racquet. It was on 5-5 30:40 for Ernests and funny thing was that Ernie didn't even know that. He hit long BH on the previous point and the ball hit Andy who was out of the court, ump first said 40:30 and then corrected himself 30:40 but Ernie still thought that was point for Andy and he sat on the chair on a Deuce score. :haha:
Andy slipped again at the start of the third set and he got massage at every part of his body.

Gulbis serve failed him. he failed to hold it when he had to have it and it cost him.

still he stayed in there with Murray a while. at least he pushed the match to 3 sets.

Nice - that was a competitive match.

Brilliant pass for Andy to break right at the end then a good serve out.

Thumb and neck sore from different falls.

Slippy out there today - he's lucky. Players have been sliding around all day.

What happened to him?

He is a very talented young man but I just hope he can remain fit throughout the season.

Gulbis is almost as stupid as Baghdatis.

Great day for tennis with Murray and Gasquet both winning matches against tough opponents.

Murray really is The Man of Glass. His body must be like matchsticks or something.

Embarrassing. :o

Gulbis served well. Not sure what makes you say he didn't.

I enjoyed that match. Good win for Snagglepuss Andy, I guess that spill he took looked scarier than it really was. The more I see of Gulbis the more I like.

Typical subterfuge from Andy, in his interview with Rusedski afterwards he made sure to get the word out that he was "struggling" this week. Sure you are, Andy. ;)

Yes, that cry was embarassing. Watching that wimp, no wonder people consider tennis a sport for pussies.

Glad Gasquet got through too. Everyone was tipping Ancic. Nice to see class overcoming power.

Gulbis serve failed him.
His brain failed him. He had an easy smash to put away to get back to deuce on his own serve and just pushed it right onto Murray's backhand.

agreed. Gulbis could have won this match. who knows how Murray would have handled his serve while serving to stay in the match.

Well he did fall several times, he did hurt his thumb and his groin and his neck.

He will be getting more treatment on it for tomorrow.

Of course if he'd retired then he'd be accused of being a baby, coward, pussy etc.

He played on, took painkillers and got on with it.

Can't win either way I guess.

There are many things that could have happened. Andy *could* have been lucky and not got hit with the ball that set up a break point. Andy *could* have served better and played better. I'm sure Gulbis could have too.

The fact is he lost becaue Murray played better. Gulbis is only 19 and still has time.

Interesting thing was after the thumb "injury". On every lost point he was bending and cheking his thumb with a deadly worried face. After he got the break in the second set (few games later) he never ever even looked at his thumb again. :haha:Sure he fell couple of times, but the drama he made out of it ? He has great acting skills. :worship:

I dont get why everyoes bitching at Murray he fell numerous times cos the surface was incredibly slippy and he hurt himself.

Im really pleased with Andy this is the kind of match he has been losing this year, but he won it by being aggressive, he was going for those returns good and proper in sets 2 and 3, really impressive he beat a very very good player.
Im happy cos he won the match rather than Gulbis losing it.

GL for 2moz Muzza :D

Both men played with a lot of heart and fight.

Well done Muzza for just having a bit more mentally.

Erno played well in parts, very mature performance from him, but just needs to realise on grass one bad game on serve can be the end, and it was.

Sadly for your beloved Murray won't ever get anywhere near a RG final.

I love how Murray's maculinity is being measured by the sound he made when he turned awkwardly.

A "manly" grunt does not make someone tougher. It was an awkward fall and looked bad. I don't think anyone can deny that it looked pretty serious initially.

Great match - I loved the first set, especially when Gulbis hit Murray with the ball at 6-5 40:40, amusing stuff.
Very slippery.

to be fair i didnt hear the sound he made... only saw a part of the match... 'grumble grumble'

but... by the sounds of it he made a girly squeal when he slipped did he...?

But he's glad as he won his first matches on grass and he says he'll threat at Wimbledon.
