[4]SIMON, Gilles FRA vs QUALIFIER
GARCIA-LOPEZ, Guillermo ESP vs FOGNINI, Fabio ITA
VENTURA, Santiago ESP vs PASHANSKI, Boris SRB
HORNA, Luis PER vs [5]CANAS, Guillermo ARG

2 of my favs :awww: and they both need the points...

I will be glad for whoever wins but still I'm with Willy here

Aquarianbabe

Oh great first round against Horna he has a negative record. Let's hope he has found his mojo. Also on the website they have Coria playing for Denmark and not Argentina. A slight oversight one would think.

Match at 11.30am today

Vamos!

martine2

WTG Willy!!!! Who's next??

Fognini, and actually I know nothing about him any info?

martine2
06-12-2008, 05:20 PM
Hehe! Good news to come home to!
I don't know much about Fognini either. Only saw some pics of him in some thread and he kinda looks like a model.
They never played against each other before either.

Get him Willy ;) !!

Aquarianbabe
06-13-2008, 08:15 AM
It doesn't matter he shouldn't take him lightly anyway. For the moment at least he has avoided Robredo and Odesnik when I saw his name it gave me shivers.

Aquarianbabe
06-13-2008, 11:34 AM
Well that sucks he lost 5-7 5-7. He was leading in both sets and he should of won. I wonder what is going on with him. Fognini was ranked 89.

martine2
06-13-2008, 12:57 PM
I didn't expect this either
When I left work, he was leading 4-2 and by the time I got home the match was over, so I couldn't follow it.

wedda
06-13-2008, 04:30 PM
that really sucks:(, he was not just leading in both sets he was actually *5-4 up and served for both sets and got broken in both occasions. anyway two matches won in a row is not bad in the current state

Aquarianbabe
06-14-2008, 02:16 PM
martine did you have coverage of the tournament. Thanks for the link do I have to sign in to view. Wedda I agree 2 matches and he came back from both. Man he must be of been so disappointed.

Does he go to Rosmalen now to warm up for the grass season the whole of two weeks?

martine2
06-14-2008, 02:35 PM
Yes, I had a livestream but I was at work when he played so only had the SB. That's why it's nice that the matches are available for review :)

No you don't have to sign in. Just click a match and you can watch (give it a little time to load)
The match vs Fognini is there too now.

If you have WM Recorder or Realplayer (free), you can record them ;)

There always is a thread in GM with links to livestreams of the current tournaments and this is very useful to be able to watch :)

martine2

Willy's playing Zverev in Ordina R1 and Misha lead the H2H 1-0.

Vamos Willy! You can do it :yeah:

wedda
06-15-2008, 09:09 PM
a 1-0 head-to-head record is not an indication so yes we wish him good luck, he is playing tomorrow at 4 pm.
everybody on the tournament forum seems to be predicting that he would lose so please willy prove them wrong :)

wedda
06-16-2008, 04:38 PM
WTG willy he did it :) 5-7 6-3 6-3

I didn't see it ofcourse but from the stats on the SB he seemed to have picked up his game in the last two sets (much better serve statistics)

martine2
06-16-2008, 05:21 PM

hey girls I'm kinda feeling out of place here :D

anyway he was playing doubles today with Del Potro and they won 6-2 6-1 against Bopanna;)/Lindstedt. They lost 3 points on serve in the whole match, nice.

By the way does anybody other than me think that the tournament site is horrible, you can't find anything on it. (it took me a very long time to realize where the OOP is)

Wedda I have about 3 Cancerians gfs which is good. No wonder I found this site to be very friendly and open.

I agree Wedda the tournament site is terrible there is no pictures, no interviews, no stories nada. I can't really work out who Willy is playing next or when.

Glad to see they won their doubles match so easily.

martine2
06-18-2008, 05:53 AM
Well, for me the site is easier because I'm a Dutch native speaker, but I agree it isn't the best quality site.

Bopanna is next and the match starts in about 3hrs. Normally he should be fine...
Vamos Willy :yeah:

Aquarianbabe
06-18-2008, 10:22 AM
Woohoo he won that is 3 matches in a row he has won including doubles. I got home and managed to hear a little bit of him speaking but buffering was very bad. If I didn't have to work late I would of be able to see a bit of the match. Never mind at least he won.

martine2
06-18-2008, 10:28 AM

Glad he won!!!

Hi, this evenig I have some time to write about Rosmalen. The first match of Willy against Zeverev was a hard piece of work and at the start he was complaining a lot - about everything. But then fortunately he settled down a bit and started to play better - but it was very tight until the end. The second match to Bopanna was far clearer - and he played and served really good. Hopefully it will be the same tomorrow, he will need it against Troicki. And it´s great to see him playing doubles with Delpo - they´re really good together. Today Clement/Serra had absolutely no chance. Now they´ll play Bhupathi/Paes and I think they have a good chance to win. It looks funny when they walk together - Willy seems so small then. But the weatherforcast is the problem in the moment - hopefully they will be wrong (again).

I´ve put up some photos in the photo section.

Polgara thank you so much for the report. It makes me laugh when players complain also Willy doesn't strike me as someone who complains all the time but when things are not going your way I guess everything can seem it is going against you. Hopefully he play really well against Troicki. I'm glad it is not Ivan as he is one of the players who spoke out last year against Willy in a negative way.

Now semis against Gicquel.

Polgara
06-19-2008, 08:30 PM
Wedda, it was sad for you that they´ve moved the match but it was luck for us to have him on a small court again. And he looked really good - very concentrated, very calm - no discussing with the empire, no complaining about the court. I haven´t seen him feeling so confident on a court for a long time. Even the rainbreak couldn´t change that. I still can´t believe it - semifinal in singles and doubles, just like a dream. In this form he has a good chance to reach the final. It´s simply great to see him like this again.

Martine, I´ll contact you after this event. Leaving early, coming back late and football - not much time left in the moment.

Aquarianbabe

Woohoo a semi final appearance. I think he has a good chance of getting to the final in both events. This will do his confidence a world of good and get him ready for Wimbledon.

Helga thanks again for the match report or more to the point keeping an eye on him. Nice to hear that he is calm and confident.

martine2
06-20-2008, 07:25 AM
Thanks for the report Helga!! Good you had the opportunity to see him play live again :yeah:
I'm so glad to hear he looks more confident again. It's been a difficult comeback for him after the last injury, but he didn't give up. Let's hope he's on the right track again now because we've been pretty worried about him haven't we :awww:
Semis is a very good result already, but let's hope for a spot in the final

Vamos today against Gicquel!! and of course in the doubles with Delpo!

Aquarianbabe
06-20-2008, 11:44 AM
And Willy is in a fight in the 3rd set. Vamos Willy. You can do it.

And is it true about Gonzo and Gisela. Shit another tennis couple bites the dust.

Aquarianbabe
06-20-2008, 12:05 PM
Willy just lost the 3rd set. At least he has got some grass court experience behind him for next week. Should I be worried about Tommy Haas. Ferrer looks like he will he beat Del Porto in the other semi. Lets hope they take revenge in their doubles match.

martine2
06-20-2008, 02:11 PM
Yes, the 1st serve% was terrible :help:
He has to get those 1st serves in...

Choupi
06-20-2008, 02:13 PM
It's great to read he looked confident on the court. Long time I hadn't seen it written down.

Polgara
06-20-2008, 10:09 PM
He lost both semifinals very closely. Against Gicquel he again played very concentrated and served really good. And then - suddenly - out of nowhere - he lost his first game in the second set and from then on his first serve was simply gone and he played with less pressure. He started to "talk" with Etlis again and became restless. And of course Gicquel started to play better and finally he won although Willy became stronger again - but he still had no first serve. It really was a pity, he had a good chance.

And in doubles I would say that we´ve seen the real final of Rosmalen today. It was a wonderful match, great ralleys and a Willy spuring Delpo up all the time. Delpo apparently was a bit down after his loss and Willy talked and talked and talked..... He wanted that final so much, you could see it, but Bhupathi/Paes were too strong. To me these two have been the best doubles in Rosmalen. I hope they will go on playing together, they go along very very good.

It was a great week and I really enjoyed seeing the "old" Willy again, every single day. He should have gained a lot of confidence and I hope he´ll have a great Wimbledon.

Aquarianbabe
06-21-2008, 08:56 AM
Helga thanks again for another report on Willy's matches. I wonder what is going on with his serve. I would of loved to watched the doubles matches. Good to hear that he was spurring Delpo on and was still really keen after his narrow lost in the singles. At least he doesn't want to quit and is still motivated which is great to know. A tournament win will come eventually.

I don't think I worried about Haas anymore.
