Halle is a special tournament for Roger and he often mentions how much he enjoys it to play there. For the next 3 years he has a contract with the Gerry Weber Open.
Maybe he will decide to play in Queens in a few years and try to get the title there ;)

Of course they do, but obviously Halle pays Federer more then London is offering (so far). Or maybe there are some other reasons for it, although I am not seeing any. For a professional players it is fully understandable to go after the money.

Roddick plays great so far this year hitting really good and serving as good as he can, and if he plays like that I don't see anyone to beat him her but matches against Karlovic, Guccione, Murray etc could be close, but Murray could easily go down to Seb, Nadal and Djokovic won't be factor after long clay season.

Andy is only capable of winning MM events thats about it. That too he needs some tie break luck to win it. but his luck wil run out when he plays a major TMS or Grand slam tourny.

Possible Nadal-Roddick semifinal interests me greatly. It's hard to see either one losing before that stage considering their draws, and over the last few years they're arguably the two main contenders for the title of #2 behind Federer on grass, should be intriguing.

Rafa tends to play more like the "French Open champion who can do OK" at Queen's, and then when you're like "Real grass players will beat him!", he goes all "Almost champion" at Wimbledon.

Perhaps it's just a factor of coming straight from Paris, though.

As a Nadal fan, Queen's is one of those tournaments where I really don't care if Nadal loses early on. The guy plays the RG final on Sunday and for the past 2 years he didn't even take time to let the victory (and the rest of the clay court season) sink in but was practicing on the grass on Monday.

On the other hand, this week probably is THE week where he needs to get a few grass court matches under his belt, because playing a possible 3 weeks straight isn't that nice either.

I think everyone who appreciates diversity in tennis enjoyed Mahut's run last year. I bet he still has nightmares about that mp in the final. It would be shame for the tournament if he bombed out early.

Dancevic might be a good bet to do some damage. His game is made for grass, he's through to the final of Surbiton having qualified and he could meet Gasquet in the 2nd round. It's a tough section though and he'd probably meet Ancic in the 3rd round although Verdasco is in there too and he seems to like the grass as well.

Murray leads the H2H 4-2 with one of the wins being a retirement. I really don't know where you're going with that statement.

Should be an interesting tournament. I'm sure 1/4 of the top seeds will crash before the QF. All depending on how his shoulder is, Roddick looks good to snag a 5th title in 6 years here. If not, there are a handful of people who are also legit contenders; Murray, Djokovic, Karlovic, Hewitt and a few others.

Agreed. And because he's relatively 'fresh' I wouldn't be surprised if he's mentally prepared to push for the trophy (which is a massive one :)). He can do with the points earned from furthering last year's quarters. But he does have some serving giants on the way...

It's all par for the course, you got to beat the best if you want to be the best. I think Nadal welcomes the challenge. It's a tough draw no doubt about it, but with the proper motivation it's not insurmountable.

How does this grass compare to the grass @ Wimby?

I believe queen's grass is still the fast grass and that halle grass mimics current wimbledon speed more accurately. Could be wrong....would have been interesting if nadal had switched tournaments in hope of getting a bit more experience playing federer on grass.

Big Sam a stern test? This guy lost in Surbiton last year to Jim May (ranked 1100 or something)

may was ranked #1500.

No nadal will defeat him in two sets easily. sam is poor version of roddick but his movement is pretty slow.

How does this grass compare to the grass @ Wimby?

Extremly fast.

Roddick and Hewitt will be peaking for this event.

Llegs wasn't very convincing yesterday, although he served very well, but then again he always had one of the most precision placed first serves.
