Federer should win this one easily, thats if he has anything left in the tank after beating Nadal tommorow.

Why do you all write Becker vs Blake?

The pdf says Becker vs Gremelmayr and Q vs Blake.

Indeed! :D A very nice tournament to go and have a look at... ;)
Hopefully Feds not be too disappointed after his RG loss this year () and show up!

Karin, well considering if Fed has anything left after the BEATING he will apply to Rafito tomorrow. We'll see. :wavey:

that draw has thrown up some interesting matches. after a long gruelling french open berrer in the first round is a tough match for federer

Why is james blake playing here.?
Din't he whine about the surface when he lost to kohlscrieber last year.

Hope Fed doesnt pull out

but its a tough ask to come from a clay GS final to play here so soon

He did so last year out of disappointment but said he'd return this year for sure. We have yet to wait and see if he keeps his promise. I think he will.

Didn't he play Halle in 2006 after losing in the FO final? He will probably get a Wednesday start anyway.

Yes he did, and he was supposed to play there last year as well as he has a contract over there.

I remember he was also tired in 2006, but still managed to win the tournament after several tight three-setters and saving match point against the serve of Olivier Rochus.

who knows what kind of battle he might have again with the beast

He did have a groin strain last year but he had it before the final.

Yes he did.
But I think the 'tired' excuse of last year was more due to severe disappointment of losing the RG 2007 final than that he actually was physically tired. It was more a mental thing than anything else and he sort-of has admitted that in interviews.

I don't think he'll be as disappointed after this year's final as he was last year, which obviously was a big blow. Although he doesn't want to give that impression during his pressers, I think he's become a little more realistic about his chances this year.

Of course I could be totally wrong about this. ;)

Exactly my thought. I still remember their match from Basel last year :help:

He did have a groin strain last year but he had it before the final.

Yes. According to the media he even went to Switzerland after the Davydenko SF.

I think you are wrong. He will be just as disappointed as ever if he loses this one again...Just like we fans are realistic about the final, doesn't mean it won't be painful when it happens...

The positive thing for Fed that he comes in this tourny is that the fact he can only raise his points after next week even if he will be beaten in the 1st round.

If he doesn't win tonight, then Halle would be a great distraction. He has always said how tough it was to have a week of nothing to do after a loss.

There's a difference between disappointment () and DISAPPOINTMENT (:bigcry:). He had that last year, I don't think that will be the case again this year...

Perhaps it's also my hope for him to appear in Halle that blurs my vision. We will see. ;)

Well atleast Federer will be really fresh this year to get back the Halle title before Wimbledon actually begins ;)
