out of respect/ out of pity

i know it sounds stupid but can anything as such happen or has happened in the world where a player might feel for other and out ofrespect might want to help other thinking that this is his, most probably, last chance and he is great player and he deserves it atleast once in his life time.

they are two good friends with lot of respect for each other. will rafa feel pity for roger, will his inner self come to haunt him and make him realize that let roger have this one, he (your friend) deserves it as this might be his last chance to get the status that he deserves. can he have such a feeling.

i wish players were as good as im thinking:). hehe
thats the only way roger can become the champ:sad:

now plz dont get serious over this, i know these are professional players and there is no as such thing (but who knows ...)

im just thinking the unthinkable

Probably not really on the scale you speak of, but Verdasco and Almagro surely must think Nadal is a barbaric Aztec god.

Nadal doesn't gift out matches to other players, but I'm sure many players have done this in the past.

Fed has kept Nadal from becoming #1 and has taken 2 Wimby crowns away from him.

Fed also has 12 slams. I doubt very seriously if Nadal would give Fed a time of the day, let alone his title as the King of Clay.

what was that score again in the last set in Hamburg in 2007? it was 6-0 in case you dont remember. Fed has a thrashing coming to him like never before on sunday.

so this is what it has come down to now. Federereeeeeeeeesians are actually looking for pity. he is only the one of the greatest ever to lift a racquet. why cant he win honestly and fairly. he gets gifted a sweetheart draw as it is.

How many sets will Nadal lose from now until when he's holding up the trophy?

Yes but Nadal defeated him twice on clay this year, Federer should have both matches comfortably, like 6-2 6-1 on Monte Carlo and 6-3 7-6 (he did take a set) on Hamburg.

maybe we, fed fans should write an emotional speech/letter to rafa, who knows after reading he might fall into tears.

Im sure it has never happened at a grand slam or MS final but it could be possible that some matches are gifted when a player is losing to a friend maybe?

I doubt that any true Champion really wants a title this way.

If Rafa would just hand the RG over the Rog, in his heart Rog would know that he has not truely earned it. i think he wants RG very badly but he wants to win it. everything else doesn't count. So no I don't think that ever happened and I don't think that is going to happen and I don't think that should ever happen cause it wouldn't be worth a penny.

No, I don't think it can happen on the tour.

Tennis is professional sport and the athletes don't just play for the love of the game or the trophies. It's about money, honour and fame.
Friendship is left behind in the moment the players enter the court. Losses belong to sport as well as victories and athletes have to accept when the opponent is the better player.

Almagro before the match against Nadal....

"Well, to me, Rafa is No. 1 because he demonstrated that. He was champion here, finalist in Wimbledon"

"He helps us when we needed that. He is a wonderful friend. To me, he is No. 1. Quite clear he is No. 1. And I wish he is No. 1 to everybody."

Haha and people complain about Blake beeing a religous fanatic with his Roger worship, Almagro seems to be a Rafatard fundamentalist, he worships Rafa as his one and only god and is grateful for every game he gives him as the wonderful friend he is....

After the match...

"But I lost in quarterfinal against future champion of Roland Garros, and he will be champion for more years if everything goes as scheduled. He should be able to defend his title for many years."

Thats the spirit of a champion! :rolls:

You think I photoshopped that avvy, do you? Let me tell you, no way. You'd really be overestimating my photoshopping abilities if that were the case... and even if I DID have those capacities, no way I'd use the results as an avvy over here. :o :D

Just a nice screencap a lovely fellow Fedal fan managed to capture from the latest Hamburg final.

Nah, not that much :p - it's a fact that they get on together rather well, and genuinely respect each other, nothing more... however much I'd like there to be just a little MORE going on between the two of them :aplot: - but the combination of me loving them both + my annoyance about a lot of the mudfights/trolling/tardiness going on between their mutual fans over here, propelled me to adopt that lovely piccie as my avvy once again. :D

It's not that I wanted Almagro to win, I wanted Rafa to win and go to the final, it's the fact that I was set up and ready and stayed up to watch a good semifinal match and Almagro decided to be a bitch that day. annoying. I'll never see another one of his matches

Though I'd probably put it in other words, have to agree with your line of thinking. I hoped for a nice, competitive match - and what did I see? A total Bending Over. Next time people begrudge Roger for some of his opponents 'bending over' for him (Blake! :(), here's one to remember as well.

Three breadsticks is a pretty fair effort by Almugro considering he was severely impeded by his rubbish single handed backhand.
