Gonzo is unbeaten on clay this year though he didnt play in Monte Carlo and Hamburg, and gave a walkover in Rome. Gonzo took the last match against Fed at the TMC.

Fittingly the toughest match so far for Federer... I think it will be very enjoyable to watch - I expect some really tight games and rallies. Gonzo can really trouble Fed here.

Won't be surprised if Federer cruises easily though.

Gonzo's problem is his inconsistency. One day brilliant, next day crap.

We've seen what Fed is capable off during his match against Ancic, and I have no doubt he'll show it again.

Fed in three, perhaps four.

Gonzo's game was on in both matches against Wawrinka and Ginepri. Why should it be off next time? Gonzo doesn't have anything to lose and if he's fit and healthy, he'll be on.

Someone who makes Federer's backhand look like Guga's, Fed in straights or 4 at most.

Yet "Guga" is nothing half as close as good as Federer is.

the only match-up possible for a rare Gonzo win is:

MonoFed vs Gonzo AO07

If no... no chance in hell for Feña

Before today I would have said this is too close to call given Gonzo's unbeaten run on the dirt this year. However after Rogi's so and so match against Benneteau, I have to give Gonzo a slight edge. He wins in 5 sets. Sorry Roger but you've gotta step it up.

If all your predictions were correct Federer would have lost over a 100 hundred matches in the last 4 years.

Gonzo appears to have found some magic with his forehand. now the trick is to be consistent and hammer Fed`s weaker wing relentlessly--both with his serve and off the ground. he needs to run around as many backhands as possible and brutalize Fed with his forehand.

Fed has had nothing but easy matches so far. almost too damn easy. there may be an opportunity here to catch him off guard. couple of rain delays will help so Fed cannot get easy points off his serve. damp conditions take away some of the sting in his serve.

Fed will triple bagel Gonzo 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. Fed has extra motivation because Gonzo denied him precious bonus points for only going 2-1 in the round robin at TMC.

Yeah, but Gonzo's one-handed backhand is real shit. Totally weak, slices it all the time.

Gonzo will switch to a two handed backhand for this match and destroy Fed 1,2 and 1.

whoever thinks Roger Federer will lose are just silly. Not that im a huge Federer fan or anything. Most of the time when Federer loses to a what yous call "a mug", the next time he plays him he simply goes insane. I predict this to be a VERY one sided match.

Gonzalez beating Federer? lol Please look back on the matches when they played during 2004-2006. Federer crushes him. Federer played like full crap when he lost in Shanghai 1st match then what happens after? He plays godlike tennis again and ends up winning it. Gonzalez is a crap, totally undeniable. One of the biggest MUG in ATP. Simply a ball basher with no brains. Federer will school him too easy this time.

Could go either way I think. Now that Fernando has beaten Roger, I think he will believe he can again-which is definalty significant. Of course Roger is very motivated to win RG so Fena will have to stay in top form for it to be possible. I expect a great match and I hope Fernando comes out the victor. :rocker2:

Should be a good match with Gonzo rediscovering his fh.

There's over 126 votes and not one person is delusional enough to believe that Gonzo could take Fed out in straights. Usually you have a few hopeful fans who believe in the impossible. So for the sake of balance I'll volunteer to be that lone voice and say something remarkable will happen and Gonzo will not only win, but he'll do it without dropping a set.

This is Federer's real semifinal, if he gets by this quarter he "should" be able to win the semi with relative ease. If Gonzo's game is on, this match could turn out to be the match of the tournament, Djokovic Vs Nadal will probably end up being a snooze fest with Nadal beating Djokovic easily and Federer Vs Nadal final will be a chokefest by Fed so in my opinion this match today has the potential of being the only good/entertaining match in this Roland Garros so I am quite excited about it. I hope it's epic, I like both Gonzo and Fed but realisticaly.. Fed in straights.

Hopp Rogi

yeah I agree, part of why Fed was so bad against Benneateu was because Benneateu was not that big of a challenge for him, Fed didn't even look motivated and apparently he was right cos even playing like crap he managed a straight set win but we all know how Fed tends to be on rematches, specialy against someone he feels comfortable with. I am guessing Fed should have no problem against Gonzo

its now or never for gonazales
federer has had an easy task so far
yet looked vunerable in all his matches
against to top opponent he may have a few hiccups
can fernando take his chances, he needs to be playing to the best of hs abilities, his forehand firing
and lets hope for a good match

It sux that the organisers scheduled both quarterfinals at pretty much same time after women`s matches so there is a chance we might miss this if they decide to show the Monfils-Ferrer match on center court
