Is Davydenko the most likable player in the top 5?

I think he is. Having read his blog, he really comes off as charming, kind, and funny. On court he is never disrespectful to the umpire or to fans. He also has an amazing work ethic and great ground strokes. He has a great personality + great game plus he never consistently beats top players meaning fans of those players can't really hate him either. Many people call him boring simply because he is not rude and disrespectful on court. Personally I think he is really likable and I can't see why anyone would dislike him, his blogs are really interesting and hilarious. The only reason I think people really dislike is because of the fixing scandal. I'm wondering if you guys think he is the most likable player in the top 5 if we put the fixing scandal aside.

I knew it would get that kind of reaction but think about it. No one in the top 3 can be the most likable as fans of the other top 3 players tend to hate that player and no one really likes Ferrer although it can be argued that he's more likable than Davydenko, but I think he's not so therefor Davydenko equals most likable if people were able to get over his fixing scandal.

Couldn't agree more, he comes across quiet and uninteresting at times, but his press conferences and blogs are funny and you can really see more of his personality.

The obvious list is...

1.David ferrer.......................2.Roger Federer.....3.Rafa Nadal....................................4.Nikolay Davydenko............................5.Joker

I generally never root against Nikolay and always wish him well. I don't think his game is very flashy but I find myself enjoying quite a lot of his matches that exhibit his consistent groundstrokes. His answers to pressers are honest, funny, and not so sugar-coated like other players' and I find that very refreshing. So to me, he's very likable but different folks have different taste.

Roger Fededer is the most liked.

Denko is the least liked if anything...has a smaller fanbase compared with other top5. Although I agree with you he's a nice guy and dosent get enough credit.

I personally think Nadal is a really nice guy, and the most likeable out of the top 5. I'll never understand why he has so many haters. So he takes his time between points...big deal. Fed and Nole are the real 'bitches' not Rafa.

Davydenko is not liked at all by most of tennis fans but he has some devoted ones-- people who saw him and really like his game... In my family no one can openly say a word against Davydenko :scared: We officially call him "Kolenka" which sounds very soft ;) My sis saw his game at RG in 2005 and just loves him ever since  I don't :tape: But I suppose he has some charisma unlike many here believe, I witness this

I think I stated it wrong. I meant that he's probably the player in the top 5 who has the potential to have the least amount of haters aside from the fixing. There's really no reason for anyone to hate him, he doesn't really beat the top players on a consistent bases yet he has a good game.

(# of people who like Roger - # of people who dislike Roger) > (# of people who like Davydenko - # of people who dislike Davydenko)

Same for Nadal and Ferrer. (Seriously, who dislikes Pics?)

Novak is difficult to gauge. He's definitely very controversial. Davydenko's differential might actual be higher than that of Novak.

I don't think Davydenko is most likable. I don't think he's least hated either. Ferrer probably wins that spot.

All of Davy's interviews/blogs that I've read/seen made him seem like a nice guy. I think the whole fixing thing and the language barrier don't really allow his true personality to ever show.

Nicer guy than Djokovic and his nightmare of an entourage.

Djokovic tries too hard to be funny.

You're probably right NinaNina19. But the fixing scandal costed him a lot. And do you think he is really innocent ?

I've never heard anyone say anything negative about Pics.

Not even on MTF, which is terribly shocking. Every mug that has ever picked up a racket has haters on MTF, but not Pics for whatever reason

Just because someone doesn't get insulted doesn't make them likable. That means most people are either neutral or don't care about them.

Yep Roger is the most likable, even in top 10 MTF favorite and ATP Fan favorite award, he's always in the top spot :)

The only player in the top 5 I hate is Djokovic. Someone said it earlier on, he tries too hard to be funny and half the time he isn't even funny and I am someone who enjoys a laugh. I quite like the other four though. If I had to make a decision I would probably go Davydenko.

Donkey likable seriously? Seriously? C'mon I've seen brooms with more personality than him. Davydenko is entertaining because his ball striking is superb, and he can bully the baseline on any surface. But likable? I suppose if you base your liking of a player purely on their play. Ferrer likable? WTF? Not in a million years, he lacks both shot making and personality. He the most boring player on tour.

Ferrer has a persona and he has a style.
Davy......he just NORMAL. i dont like him also dont hate him.
Nadal, was hate him. Now i kind of like his style and his spirit.
Fed....i like him (his game and his character (mental and calmness).
Djokovic:ras:

I like him, a few people just dont because they see him as boring however he is probably the funnyest player in the top 5 although his humour is very subtile and not everyone gets it unlike djokovic who tries to be funny all the time.

I feel that Davydenko is perceived as being bland. So he doesn't stir people's emotions enough to be loved or hated. Then there was those allegations.

he has the coldest face i've ever seen from any tennis player on court

he's the 2nd least likable player after the joker imo
