:)

They entered the draw as alternates and now defeated the #3 seeds to reach the quarter-finals :)

What I can say is that I'm very happy for Bruno Soares. This guy was having good runs in either singles and doubles challengers in 2003-2004, but during the 2005 season he had a very serious knee injury which almost ended his career. He made the comeback to the circuit in the middle of last year and started to achieve great doubles results at the challenger level. And now all the effort he had to make is paying off :worship:

I've already seen him playing singles and doubles live. He has almost all the keys to be a nice doubles player, and so he is. Good serve (nothing out of series nor powerful, but good angles) and a great hability with volleys.

He can also perform well in singles. He is capable of showing a good display of serve and volley, and his baseline game isn't bad. In January he defeated Mariano Zabaleta at the São Paulo challenger doing serve-and-volley during the whole match.

He is a quite calm guy, I saw him during this challenger and he is always very serene, even during the match. It seems nothing can disturb the guy during a match, even if he is losing.

Well, that's it, congratulations for him and Dusan and I'll be cheering a lot for a even better run. Everything is possible now :)

A Brazilian website (www.tenisbrasil.com.br) sent a journalist to Paris and the guy made an interview with Soares about him almost ending his career and the happiness of reaching a Grand Slam QF

http://www2.uol.com.br/tenisbrasil/diaadia/ult594u1873.htm

(Sorry for my lack of vocabulary in English :p)

What is the sensation of being on the quarter-finals and representing Brasil
It's show. In our draw, the favourites ended by withdrawing, so people could wonder if we were in the 3rd round by luck. But today we proved we can perform in a high level, that I have the same level of Marcelo (Melo), André (Sá). Now we have to go for it.

You faced favourites today, guys who have won a Grand Slam. How was the match and when did you felt that you could actually win?
We are playing well together. I arrived in the week of qualies, so I had 2 days to practice and I had a good adaptation. Dusan played qualies, ended by losing in singles, and then he stayed. We are playing well and when you play against such players you have to believe and do your game. If they were invincibles they wouldn't be here, they would be playing in another planet. Since the moment you enter the court, you have chances to win.

What's the importance of this tournament in your career?
Huge. After 2 years without playing, in a moment of my life in which I didn't know if I would play tennis again, I'm in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, my first Grand Slam appearance. Now it's time to enjoy and to want more.

And what are your goals, your dreams for the future?
Keep playing, little by little, keep growing. Tennis is week by week. You make a good run here, but in the other week it starts all again, from zero. I have to keep practicing, working, and playing week after week.

And family, are you able to talk with them?
Almost nothing. I'm staying in a house with some friends. I have been talking with my family by the Internet, trough webcam. They're all happy, I'm sure they followed it from there. I'll call them soon.

About the injury, how exactly was the injury period?
It was back in 2005. I was already playing singles and doubles at that age. In july I injured myself. At first it was an inflamation at the tíbia, something theorically simple, to stop 3-4 months. But the inflamation didn't stopped and we had no information because I didn't feel any pain. When I started to do any exercise, after 15-20 minutes I started feeling the pain and I couldn't even step on the floor. 2 hours later I could walk normally, with no pain. It kept this way during 1 year and 7 months, and then I went to the surgery, which was the last option. Fortunatelly everything was OK later, in 2007 July I started playing again. Now I'm 100%, never felt a pain after the surgery. Zero kilometer.

In this meantime, did you think about retiring?
It was hard, I had no information. The time started to pass and I didn't know anything, it wasn't an injury that the doctors said that in 6 months I would play again. 2 months passed and I tried, more 2 months and I tried again. I thought it was OK, but it wasn't. Then many thing start to cross in the mind, start working, studying, get something to pass the time. In the end, everything ended well.

Still about the future, do you see yourself playing the Davis Cup, defending Brasil in case any gap is opened in the Melo/Sá duo?
Everyone plays following goals. The great thing about the team (Melo/Sá), of the guys in Belo Horizonte (Melo, Sá and Soares were all born in the same city) is that everyone supports the others. Today they were here cheering me up, as well as I do for them. I'm here to play tennis, what turns up, turned up. So, if it is Melo and Sá, if Soares enters in the middle, it will be very cool. If they need me, I'll be here. If it doesn't, I'll be there cheering.

Andy and Yoni are my favorite doubles players, but sometimes, they are quite weak mentally, and I am tempted to strike them off my favorites list. :(

They are my favs too but clay has not been kind to them this year. Having not seen the match I can't relate whether or not they lost it mentally. I prefer to think the other team played much better but that both teams played well.
