Interesting players out there. Harrison and Janowicz made some small sensations this year, Tomic is a long-living MTF hype, Eysseric and Inzerillo are always the ones to watch, I've followed Vasquez-Valenzuela since some national kid tournaments ( :D ), and younger brother of Ravael Arevalo also will play.

Marin Draganja played this week in Rijeka Challenger. Jenkins... Scoville's family? Matt Reid from Australia - Todd's family?

I think it's gonna be fun :yeah:

Another promising result for Dimitrov, hope he wins the hole stuff. As for Jonathan, I wonder whether he played bad or simply was defeated by a better player.

Excellent result for Grigor.....he will definitely beat his next opponent (janowicz or feret), after which he will probably get his biggest challenge in Guido Pella.

He has the possibilities, defeating Eysseric is quite a feat in my eyes, also considering how easily he won. I estimate that whoever wins between grigor and guido (providing they both win their quarters) will be a definite title winner.

I think it's time that he gets some credit for that as well, go mr Yang:)

Guido :bounce:
He said that he winning some matches easly because the other guys made some mistakes after his good movement on court and they started to desesparte because the argie put a lot of ball in.
Also that his serve is doing quite well which hopefully helps him to close some points in a quckly way.

well done Pella!. Winning Bonfiglio and doing SF at Roland Garros coming from both qualies is not a little thing.

I think that he would compete the whole junior calendar now he would be at top 5 in the rankings. But he prefered to start pro competition in 2007 and not went bad...he´s #615.

He applied for Wimbly qualies...but I wonder if he really is interested to do the same effort at that tournament or re starting pro competitions.

Garfman5
06-06-2008, 05:00 PM
Doing qualies at Wimbly might actually help him, because it would give him a chance to get adapted to the surface before he meets the better players. With his all-court game he should have a chance to at least go a couple of rounds, I would say and there is nothing like playing on the bigger tournaments, even if it's "just" Juniors.

Semifinal results:

Jerzy Janowicz (POL,12) d. Guido Pella (ARG) 6-4 6-4
Tsung-Hua Yang (TPE) d. Cesar Ramirez (MEX,2) 7-5 6-4

but now reachs final in RG Junior, so I suppose he must be a more complete player

paris (enviado especial)

janowicz played amazingly fast apparently. but Pella said that the balance is positive after all.
he speaked very bad about AAT (asociacion argentina de tenis) some days ago

I have no idea how he got there :spit:. Well, he started on clay so it's not like he can't move, but overall he *is* a clay clown, just look at his futures result on hard and on clay, comments not needed... He has a huge serve, big groundstrokes (not as big as you see on senior tour though), sometimes a decent volley, but he has got something great - a fighting spirit. He never gives up, and runs and hits even if it hurts him.

Strangely, even in Taiwan, there is not much news of Yang's win so far. Unlike when Chan Yung-jan capturing the Aussie doubles..
By the way, thanks Garfman for the elaborate junior tennis site!

You're most welcome, you should check out the pics I just put up on my site, there are 2 very nice shots of Mr Yang as well:) But, yes, I have to admit that I find the lack of exposure for Yang strange. Even after he was a runner-up at the Australian Open, he was almost completely ignored until he actually won the final of Roland Garros. For me, he was already on my radar since he started winning matches in futures, but I can't say that I ever expected him to actually go out and win this.....not Roland Garros, that is. But I guess it just shows what an amazing talent he is, that he's able to adapt so quickly on a surface that's clearly not his own.

Finally discover my way here to say Congrats to Yang :yeah:

thanks Garfman, your site is nice too. I only notice Yang during his run at AO Junior championship. His performance and results were impressive, but i don't usually follow the Junior tours much.

Actually some of my current favorites were champions/finalist in the junior grand slams. All the best to Yang, hope he will do well in the ATP level too.

If he can make a smooth transition similar to Nishi, that'll be great :)

I see this is his career high ranking, did he receive any ATP points by winning the Junior Slam?

Garfman5
06-12-2008, 05:58 PM
Who knows, I expect him to fully focus on the seniors next year, after the year that he is already having so far. And no, a player doesn't receive any ATP points for a Junior Slam, unfortunately:) It might be a wise idea, though, to step out of the asian future circuit and try to move to a stronger circuit, perhaps play some challengers in europe next year....he can get by on clay, after all:)

chewy
06-14-2008, 03:52 AM
oic, so he got his ATP ranking from all the ITF future/satellite tournaments he's played so far...look forward to seeing more of him next year then :)
