Neat, thanks. Didn't know he was there already!

Federer won 14. Does it still count when Federer starts winning "1000" titles?

Of those Masters Series finals, they only met each other once: Miami 2002, which Agassi won. Of course, Federer won the other two finals they played (non-Masters): USO 2005 and Tennis Masters Cup 2003.

So Fed is on the verge of another Open Era record when he makes his 23rd MS final in the coming months.

Sampras won 11 lost 8

That's a really strong record from Agassi, winng 17 and only losing 5. I believe that 6 of those he won was Miami, which is probably the biggest Masters Series tournament. Solid stuff.

The other Agassi record is the number of different Masters Series titles: he won 7 of the 9 (all except Monte Carlo and Hamburg). How many does Federer have now?

YANIVMUS

6/9 TO FEDERER
if he will win monte carlo it will be 7/9 like agassi

Fed has 6.

Just was commenting on that in the Fed forum.

Hamburg
Indian Wells
Toronto
Miami
Cincinnati
Madrid

He has finals in Rome (2x) and Monte Carlo (2x). He has a QF in Paris. :(

Agassi was missing Monte Carlo and Hamburg. He had a QF in Hamburg and a 3R in Monte Carlo.

Federer, with his win in Madrid back in 2006 was the first to have finals in 8 of 9, and earned his 6th of 9, behind only Agassi.

With his win at Cincinnati he was the first to have at least a QF in all master's series.

Some entertaining footage of Agassi's first Masters Series final win (Edberg, Miami 1990):

I looked for footage of Roger's first, but didn't see any.

Amazing record from Agassi, especially considering how many he won against such quality players, and in several eras: from Lendl to Sampras to Hewitt. :worship:

I think telling the Nole camp to 'be quiet' really revved Fed up to make another final

Fed has now made it to 9 TMS clay finals which is a great achievement for a guy whose favorite surface is not clay.

Federer has now passed Agassi in masters series finals, although he is still behind in Masters Series titles. I have updated my previous post (#15) to reflect this.

Nadal has now won at 6 of the 9 events, just like Federer. Agassi has the record with 7 out of 9.
