If Djokovic's family want to be umpires there are courses they can take. Otherwise they should sit down, shut up and let the important people do their jobs.

Look at them after he told them to be quiet. They all looked so shocked and ashamed like 5 year olds that were just scolded by their parents. Finally someone had the balls to put those idiots in their places. I used to like Novak until the happenings at RG and the USO with the Djokovic box wearing the same shirt and acting like morons throughout the match.

On another note, Maria Sharapova did herself NO favors with Roger or the general public when she was caught being a little whore in the Djokovic box at the USO and only rooting for Novak. Roger is a colleague. Maria looked unprofessional when she did that. Hell, I'm sure the people that lick Maria's ass at Nike were cringing when they saw her rooting against their biggest male client. When Serena watched the AO final in 2007, she sat in a neutral part of the arena and was not shown to be favoring either player. That's being professional, something that Maria clearly isn't.

You got to love the mommentum of things. In case Djokovic won this match, the comments would problably be like "what a classless act from Federer" "The family was right to complain to begin with" but, since Djokovic loss the way he did. The bandwagon goes the other way around.

In my view, I couldnt hear what their parents were saying at all. Of course in anycase, they will cheer relentlessly for their soon. Unlees they were doing something really disrespectful. This is not a class move from Federer...

I didn't like it.

I also understand someone saying he (Federer?) was trying to steal a point. What? He insta went to look at the mark, how can you say he was trying to steal a point?

That can be really bad to relationship between him and Djokovic, since they are going to stay at the top for some more time.

That was my impression, too.
And in such a case they have been rightfully asked to be quiet. Should've been the umpire's job, but well - apparently Roger knows how to do the job as well.

Nothing classless at all from Roger. He could've called out "SHUT UP!" just the same, but in stead just told them to be quiet. And rightfully so.

Federer probably shouldn't have done it - as you say it's really the official's job to do that.

But I guess he felt if they thought they could involve themselves in officiating then so could he.

Yep.
There could even be a little more to it - like in his match against Nalby, Fed was clearly FIRED UP here, and this call might well have been a signal to Djoko and his entourage that he wasn't going to get fooled around by Djoko today.

Really? so in any tournament from now. when the crowd starts to make all kinds of noises after a close call as it usually happens, the players are supposed to tell them to be quiet.

Specially a players entourage which of course, will be the ones doing it most intensely. Nah, I think this was unecessary from Federer. Only the brainless fans will love it but, this can make some bad blood between them. If I was Djokovic and an opponent tells my family to be quiet in the stands, I would be moved...

Ah well that's the thing.

If *I* were Djokovic I would have cut the apron strings by now and told my parents to get on with their own lives and get on with raising my younger brothers and giving them plenty of attention, rather than being courtside for every match I play, but that's the difference between us, I guess.

Ah STFU GugaF1... Djoko's parents the least classiest in all of tennis and everyone knows this. They deserved to be called out by Roger. If it means more bad blood between him and Djoker, so much the better! We need something like Mac/Lendl nastiness to spice things up!

In an earlier post I already mentioned that this is rather the umpire's job than a player's - and indeed, I think a crowd should be shushed a lot more often than occasionally happens. It's both irritating and respectless of a crowd to be yelling while a player is concentrating on his game.

If you like yelling, why not watch football or boxing in stead.

But the yelling (if there's any) was AFTER the lineman yelled an "in" ball "out". So how this affect a player's concentration?

I believe Federer did this only because of what Dijana said before and it's good to know that he's still human and knows how to hold a grudge.

its one thing to be confident of your son and another to be blatantly arrogant and have no respect to other players and say things like the king is deady.

secondly if u say who is roger to tell them, then who are they to tell roger. and other players have their families too, have u ever seen such childish behaviour from them. have u ever seen nadals uncle or rogers family acting in such a retarded way, getting on others nerve.

hey are u djokovics mom, hehehe

So? didn't Federer called Djokovic a Joke or something years ago. So even if she made this comment, you don't carry this into a match..

No. And two wrongs don't make a right. Even if he were to have called him a joke (I think it wasn't him he was referring to), it's suddenly okay for her to go spouting the contents of her mind to the world, constantly talking Roger down after every loss? If you are defending her actions, you're just like her.

Anyway, if Roger said that directly at me, I would have shit myself right there, just as Djokovic's family did. The whole "Challenge, I said!" thing was scary enough.

I don't think Djok play his best tennis. This match is fake

No one plays their best tennis every day. The key is to win consistently. If he retired because of this, then he truly is a pussy.

A lot of individuals have been wishing to tell the Djerk's family to be quiet. Roger finally did it today, and all I wish to say to Roger is: Shut Up would have been more appropriate.

Even the commentators couldn't muster any retribution for Roger. Everyone is sick and tired of this classless family.

It would have been funnier if he had said "shut up" indeed.

But the tone of his voice when he said "be quiet, ok" will do! :haha::devil:

Guess its my turn- Djokovic's retirement may have been iffy BUT just as his parents should have been a little quieter, Roger should not have said anything at all. It's the umpire's job to make calls and quiet the crowd not the players' job. Less than stellar bhr from both players.

Djokovic and his family really bring out the worst in Federer.

Absolutely seems so, what is very sad.

How many posts tonight, I need the days to read them all, so...I'll make my comment after reading three pages, what was more then enough.

This was really CLASSLESS reaction from someone who used to present the class in tennis acting, at least in last 3-4 years as a champion of the world(I'm not mentioning the period before when there was also classless acting from Rogi).
Sad, really, he should ignore them if they were annoying him, but with this reaction he showed the hate, angriness, rudeness...and bad manners he used to show before he got to the throne. Alas!
Where is the class in the tennis at this moment, who's presenting the class acting right now? When I look at this forum where everybody speak about class, but act absolutely different, our tennis players, including Djokovic, even including annoying fans on the court, even including Djokovic family - Crasstastic 4 as Sawan named them, are FAR MORE CLASSY then most of you, folks.
By the way, Crasstastic 4 were not (today) as much annoying as they were in AO.

But, what I can see, GOSSIP is more important thing on this forum then tennis itself, right?;)

Dear Dijana and Srdjan,

It's natural to love your son the most, to think he's the best son in the world or even the best tennis player in the world etc etc, all very understandable and nothing to hold against you - BUT, the world does not have to share that sentiment with you so there's really no need to shove it down everyone's throat as people generally don't appreciate it. I bitched about that comment myself when she said that. You're welcome to Nole's forum in the AO thread there and read about it. I even cut her from the pic I used as my avy after the AO victory.

And even in this thread, I said that Roger is human to react like this because of what she said. Fed fans are the one to make Roger sounds like God and then try desperately to justify his human reaction and behaviour here. Not me.

And if you care to read what I post here, you will find that I am bitching about justifying what he did to maintain his god like image instead of saying I am bitching about what he said.

There are just two problems, we don't exactly know if that was aimed at Djokovic's box or not (though the commentator says it) and we don't exactly know what was being said. But there was also another hint that it was directed at the box, because the commentator later said "djokovic telling his mum and dad to be quiet". Anyway, notice Roger Federer didn't say "SHUT UP", he said "BE QUIET" in a calm tone. If it was truly towards the box, then Djokovic's parents (whole box) I bet were continuously saying (mumbling) shit like "ohh that was so in", "that was so not out!!!" etc... Having played Djokovic many times already and experiencing the annoyance of his box, it's about time Roger does something about it in an appropriate manner. If it was Roddick I think he would just turn around and say "Would you please shut the **** up?". For Federer, it was like a Teacher telling children in their class to be quiet. For whom who says it isn't a class act are yous stupid or what? And who f***ing cares about the relationship status of Federer and Djokovic on tour. Ages ago Fed has already expressed his dislikes against djokovic during the Davis Cup. I'd rather for somebody be true to me than being a fake ass b1tch. So overall this "be quiet" was absolutely class A stuff, I cracked up hard and my admiration level for Federer once again raised.

It's like punching Gandhi is wrong but if someone punches Osama Bin Laden, he/she will get a medal.

Gandhi= Roger
Bin Laden= Djokovic

If he did, then this is just too good to be true.

 :yeah: I love Novak but his family drive me insane. And not in a good way.

I don't like all this talk about Djokovic not having respect for his oponent. His match vs. Roddick in Dubai is the most gracious, sportsman like match I've watched in a long time. Maybe it's just Fed he has issues with!

That's one thing you've got to give Nadal. He shows Federer respect. And gets it back.

Novak's family's behaviour is not shown on this video : they are just shown briefly AFTER, all quiet. As far as I saw, Roger could have said "be quiet" to anyone in the crowd, plus you can't really hear noise before he speaks, it looks kinda strange when he says it. :)
I'm not a Djokovic fan nor am I defending anyone here, I'm just saying that this video is completely irrelevant.

The ATP commentators said it was directed towards Djokovic's box. No way you can tell from the video if that is true or not.

Well, DJokovic is a top 20 and probably top 10 overall all time great and he`s like 6 years younger. Of course he will continue beating Olderer. But the important thing is that their match up is very enterteining.

Don´t give too much importance to H2H`s. It`s no so important
