Nadal didn't really have to do much here. Davydenko didn't really show up to play.

Yes, but Nadal was still impressive at times... Well played and well done.

Expected straights sets beatdown.

Just hand Nadal the Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Rome and Roland Garros titles.

It was closer than the score indicates. A lot of long, hard won games by Nadal, who showed that he was so much a better mover.

Davydenko wasn't patient enough, he played like it was still Miami.
39 ue's is too many in 2 sets.

More cannon fodder for Nadal.

EEEEAAAASSSYYY... didn't have to play his best, never tested at all.

Congrats, Rafa! :bounce:

Denko did a half-arsed attempt to play in that second set... but never stood any chance. See you back in Rome Denko.

Not that great Rafa, tbh.

Loving the slice :yeah:

It looked so routine for Rafa. Fixer had his chances to get back in the second set but he had so many UE'e. I was hoping for a bagel but this is good too.

Routine win for Nadal. Davydenko was never in good enough form this tournament to pose much of a threat.

He returned much better than he served in the 2nd set, but his serve was working just fine in the 1st set. Since his game isn't serve-dependent anyway, it doesn't matter. He's in the Final, that's what's important.

Now he has to play a doubles SF. I'm hoping for a quick out in that one.

rafa well played :yeah: some nice dropshots in the 1st set, he really didn't have to play very good to beat the fixer today. still making him hit one more volley every time made the difference. onto the final

btw, TBE kolya really showed rafa who's the boss :rolls: :rocker2:

Exactly! Daydenko wasn't that bad. Nadal's service games were'nt easy, Davydenko was always fighting.

I dont think it was that bad for Davydenko. WEll done Nadal and Davydenko :yeah:

True, didn't mean imply Nadal wasn't impressive. I was just kind of anticipating an encounter similar to their Rome match last year, though Davydenko's form coming into this match left much to be desired.

Well done Rafa , good match. Tomorrow the final is in your hand for a 4th title at MC.

I had hopes that Davydenko could put up a challenge for Nadal, now I can only hope Nalbandian or Federer could have some great matches against Nadal on clay this season (that is take a set from him). Everyone else is pretty much a walk in the park for Nadal on clay.

It's hilarious to read people post how disappointed they are by the result. Some are even surprised.

Nadal is the only decent clay court player on tour. Any suggestion that he would struggle against a hardcourter Davydenko this early in the clay court season is prepostreous and naive.

That song should be the official anthem of the clay season.

You're mistaken.

In Rome Rafa didn't look fresh at all and struggled. Davydenko looked about the same as he did today. Some good points, some bad ones. It was closer because Nadal sucked.

In rome the court was faster, balls not so heavy and that day was sunny. huge difference.

Fed & Nalby? Are you nuts. Djokovic is much, much greater threat for Rafa on clay.
Even Ferrer and Davydenko could trouble Nadal a lot more than the "stereo fed" and "hungry dave".

But Nadal was too good.

Difference in the conditions yes. But not the players. Again the point is that Davydenko was not better than he was here and Nadal was worse.

Congrats, Rafa, for reaching the four consecutive Monte Carlo final! :yeah:
A bit scrappy match but some great points, especially in the second set.
Shame Kolya looked tense and was uncharacteristcally erratic, maybe the tiredness finally caught up with him?

Anyway, good luck to Rafa tomorrow!! :yippee:

Sweet revenge.

Distinctly average from Rafa, especially the backhand. One outrageous point in the 2nd set, but other than that pretty low key.
