Hewitt for lob.

Roddick doesn't necessary have the best serve.

Coria has good drop shots.

Nadal's FH DTL isn't that great IMO. Usually he hits it when his opponents don't expect it and that's how he gets winners.

Nadal's FH DTL is extinct, just as Tyrannosaurus rex

Federer's DTLer is sublime

Coria had great dropshots, Hewitt lobs and net approaches sometimes

No way Nadal has a better crosscourt FH then Federer. In fact, Fed's forehand is simply the deadliest shot in tennis period.

Why are you intemizing FH and BH avoiding volleys? ;)
I think these collations are difficult, very subjective. I noticed once that for example Davydenko and Hewitt have quite good backhand cross-court volleys but their BH volleys down the line practically don't exist.

Karlovic's serve may have a little bit better placement but part of the reason is his height. As much as i don't like Roddick, i will take Roddick's serve as 99% of players on tour have no idea how to deal with it..

Talking about the serve I think is necessary to specify 1st and 2nd serve. Karlovic has just decent 2nd serve IMO, Nalbandian serves 2nd serve better than the Croat, more efficiently.

Becker and Stich were playing this shot superbly, especially on returns when an opponent were going to the net (but with a different technique) :yeah:

Lleyton Hewitt:"Nadal has the best forehand in world when playing on clay".

But since tennis isn't played only on clay, surely Federer's which is pretty good on clay
(close 2nd best) and the best on all other surfaces should win it?

Yeah, well that shot was great Fedi hit there, but I feel like Djokovic, Davydenko & Ancic for example are players who use that shot very effectively even when returning. You'll see confidence in that shot especially when the backhand is doublehanded and its their favourite / better shot.

In the women's game this shot has become one of the biggest weapons for many players nowadays and its one of my favourite shots as well whereas I feel in the men's game its a real' good shot to suprise the opponent.

The thing is, I do think that a doublehander is usually better at it or uses it more often especially on the return.

You're right. I guess we can't judge him on something he doesn't even do...

But if he did, he'd probably be the best ever.

Edit: In fact, this is clearly backed up on the rare occassions that he does do it.

Did you even watch Davydenko volley in Miami?

It was pretty good...
