# 1 - Your Pick and Why

Hey everyone,

I'm new here, been reading the forums for months, decided I should join in :)

Haven't talked to anyone here yet besides Rogimon (cool fella), but you all do seem like an interesting bunch, definetly looking forward to some good quality tennis debates.

Anyways, thought I'd open a hopefully interesting thread as a starter. I'd like to hear some honest opinions on who you want/think should get the #1 spot. I picked just these three guys since I figure they got the greatest chance of staying/becoming number one for a while.

Personally, I choose Nadal. I'v been a huge fan for years and I really want him to finally get this. He deserves it. So close, hope this is his year somehow :). I like Djokovic, I think hes a cool character, and defintely seems like a cool person ya could hang out with, but I'm not jumping the bandwagon yet. When Nadal gets what he deserves, then, what happens, happens. As for Federer, great player no doubt about it, much respect, just not my pick anymore.

What do you guys think?

Rogiman (or mon) is an idiot.

Hope that helps with the rest of your MTF stay

Querrey.

I agree to the extent that I put $500 on him to beat Djoke. By tomorrow evening, MTF will be abuzz with talk of his beautiful game, not his ugly face.

Speaking of Ronnie, did you see what Hendry pulled out tonight vs. Ding? First a triple plant along the bottom cushion and then a plant form the reverse angle, again along the bottom cushion. Such a beautiful display of newtonian mechanics, awesome :worship:

Hendry was really... lets say 'average' , at times. Ding was utterly horrible , especially with those safety(!?) shots...

I was hoping no one would see through the mild sarcasm :) Guess the "been viewing the forum for a few months" probobly gave it away :wavey:

No, it's just because other parts of your post seemed too intelligent for that kind of conclusion ;)

As for the subject-the number one is still Fed, until proven otherwise. But, watching his current form and form of his rivals and given the fact that time is not his ally, it is clear that he won't be as dominant as he used to be.Rafa could be the next number one for a while, which is deserved. But, I think this is going to be Novak's year when we sum it up in the end.

The thread starter assumes that all of us must prefer somebody from the top-3 to be the #1 player, hence we are somehow obligated to be fans of one of them. Not true at all, therefore the ridicule is deserved. Note that the option "other" does not exist in this poll.

^^

Not at all. The question does not obligate you to be a fan of either. It's simple among the current top three, which you would prefer to see at #1, if you had to choose...not who is your favourite player.

It's to gauge the interest level among the top 3. See where they stand popularity-wise, if it was just them.

Kind of like...what do you prefer, chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry? Yah..theres other flavours... but that's not the point :)

I WANT Federer to stay at #1 for as long as possible.

I THINK that Djokovic will end 2008 as #1.

Nadal might get a few weeks in at #1 during the summer as well.
