David Nalbandian Is The Man

Clay Death

i said yesterday that Robredo is past his prime and will have no chance against a highly talented Nalby. no more all night cheese burger parties for Fat Dave.

he conducted a clinic for Robredo today. who will be his next victim?

this is shaping up to be some tournament for Fat Dave. If he can figure out a way to deal with Djokovic he can be in the finals.

affirmative. he has even turned his fortunes around against the swiss master. he is 8-8 now against Fed.

Fat Dave has serious game when he really wants to play.

Agree - and when's the last time Robredo troubled anyone of note.

Will be interested though to see Nalbandian v Fed tomorrow though; if he wins that then yes it may be worth talking. Can't stand the man myself...

Hey All,

Clay Death, A.K.A. - Clay Monster - (I like that moniker better), you're a mess. You are always up in someone's kool aid instigating. LOL!

I must admit though that I thought the same thing to meself on yesterday. Remember, he conquered them all in the last two series of 07. Just like Andy rolled in there and stole Dubai, I wouldn't be surprised if David rolls everyone here.

That being said though, Roger needs to pay David back for those last couple of losses he suffered against him last year. It is payback time for Rog. Plus - he knows everyone is questioning his form and/or his energy level. Some have even wondered about his desire. So, if he can get on a roll and roll David tomorrow, it would do a lot for his confidence - indeed.

It certainly will be a tasty dish served up either way the match plays itself out. We know David realizes that Roger is not at his tippy top best - based on the fact that Mardy and Addy beat him in the US. He probably feels Roger is still vunerable - so he is going to go after Rog. Roger has to show us how it's done again with the quickness. He needs to pounce all over David and smother him w/excellent play.

David smothered Robredo today didn't he? My goodness! He is not messing around.

We shall see how it all goes down on 4-25-08.

Pigsarestupid

Nalbandian will put the discussion about who is the real nr1 to sleep beating Federer, Djokovic and Nadal back to back in straight sets. But then he will go on and lose to Melzer in Barcelona 1st round and to Sam Querrey in the 1st round in Rome and mtf will forget him for a while.

Using Robredo as a measuring stick isn't the most reliable prediction for a win over Fed.

My MC Mole was there to witness it live, and according to what I was told, Nalby was in overdrive. Hopefully this continues tomorrow- I'd love to see him win it.

Yes, he did. He has been consistent on Djokovic as the next successor in the game.

It's always the way with Nalbandian in here. He plays well, everybody wants his kids and soon as he loses, he is a fat, overweight disgrace who doesn't give a fuck about the game.

there isnt anybody who didnt pick Nalby yesterday after the way he demolished Robredo. additionally Fed was in deep shit with Hidalgo who just could not close the deal. so what is all the fuss about. Fed was considerd to be out of form.

main reasons for his loss if u ask me were:

drop in concentration in the 2nd and 3rd set( hitting not so well placed shots , hitting UEs)
fed's backhand (which improved in the 2nd and 3rd set because... well he was getting all the balls to his bh side)

although fed was not making bh winners , he was hitting good angles crosscourt and bandy was just missing it...

To be honest of the two of them Federer was the least fit. if Nalby got tired is cos federer had him running but federer was sweating more and breathing harder. Fed is just the better player

Bottom line is that you are a Nalbandwagonist, when he does well, you call him the man, like here. He loses, he is an idiot.

It doesn't.

The facts that he is ranked 1, leads in the H2H count, and has 12 slams do.

I give an unbiased opinion. If you watch carefully you can easily tell Nalbandian strokes are better than Federer's.
But on surface like clay or grass,Federer has the edge because of his great movement.

Read the post again it says the better (between him and Nalbandian), not the best.

Fat Dave's strokes are not better than Fed's overall. Bh's better but he's nowhere near on the other wings.

Yep, Fat Dave's forehand is a country mile ahead of FEderer's. It is only Federer's movement which makes it appear better to the naked eye.

No. Fat Dave is the best player ever, has 13 GS and is the #1 for 8 years straight.

Je suis d'accord. When Federer's forehand is on and he's moving at hist best Nalbandian can be at 150% and Federer would still win 7-5 6-4. Let's not even assume Federer's serve is on. Then it would not be much of a contest.

Nalbandian Overwhelmed by Persistent Pain

Something is wrong with David Nalbandian but no one in his team knows exactly what it is and that is what worries them most. Consequently, Nalbandian is beginning to run out of patience.

"Since I won in Paris last year I haven't been able to play a tournament without feeling pain," said the Argentinian after his 3-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, second-round upset loss to Jeremy Chardy at the French Open.

The unexpected setback to the 145th-ranked Frenchman in which Nalbandian squandered a two-set lead was disappointing, but even more distressful was yet another physical problem, this time it is pain in his left leg.

"When am I going to be healthy on the court again?" the two-time French Open semifinalist asked his coach and trainer during the match knowing deep down that no one has the answer to that question.

Nalbandian has finished in the top 10 for five straight seasons, but not without having to deal with several injuries. There is virtually no spot in his body that hasn’t suffered and that’s why he shortened his competitive calendar to avoid facing surgery.

In January the blonde Argentine player was very confident and a serious challenger after an incredible rush at the end of the previous season when he became champion at the Masters Series of Madrid and Paris, beating the best players in the world: Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal twice as well as scoring a win over Novak Djokovic. However, as many times in the past, injuries ruined his plans and illusions.

This year everything looks even worse. In the first Grand Slam of the year in Australia he was struck by an abdominal pain, then too much strain on his left leg contributed to an early loss in Miami at the Sony Ericsson Open. The situation seemed to be stabilized when he traveled to Europe to play on clay, but another unexpected intermittent pain, this time in his right arm forced him to skip the Hamburg Masters Series. Now at Roland Garros the trouble in his left leg reappeared.

In the last few months, he’s had several medical check-ups in different places, he even saw the prestigious Angel Ruiz Cotorro of the Spaniard Federation. However, an accurate diagnosis hasn’t been made yet.

"The day I stop enjoying and start suffering the game it’ll be meaningless for me to go on," Nalbandian said a few months ago.

His recurrent injuries are an obstacle that he still cannot overcome. Still, Nalbandian expects to be at Queen’s Club to play on grass and then at Wimbledon, but the lack of confidence in his physical state seems to be too strong for him to handle right now.

Heh. Just read this thread for the first time. Love the way Brain Death turns his deepest wishes into "predictions" which he is utterly convinced will come true. The way he was talking at the beginning, it was a cast-iron fact that either Nalbandian or Djokovic would face Nadal in the final. As it happened, Fed took them both out. Heh.

evedently that is all he is good for. the guy is just a huge disappointment.

in Miami, he said he partied all night and that he didnt have any energy for his match the following day.

Fat Dave just doesnt have much motivation. he said that he was tired after just one set against Fed in Monte Carlo.

he needs a climate controlled environment and a relatively fast indoor surface to do well evidently.

Well it was your bandwagon thread to start with, the title says it all. I'm sure the rest of the thread consists of saying how much of a joke he is. You would call him a joke regardless of whether he wins or loses anyway.

he did humble Fed and Nadal twice in Madrid and then again in Paris. even ran over Djokovic there.

he had a great start on clay. it was relatively easy opinion that he might make some noise on clay. it didnt happen.

is it the lack of maturity that compels you to try indulge rather mindlessly in your propensity to pick holes in people. this is an opinion board. get used to people being wrong once in a while.
