With a win tomorrow Fat Dave can totally turn the tables on their rivalry. Strange rivalry though - first Dave own Roger, then Roger owns Dave, now Dave might start owning Roger again.

in my view the only true rivalry for Roger. nadal is more..... like if you put their matches in terms of surfaces, then it's not really a rivalry. but David And Federer have been battling it out since juniors.

in contrast to many other rivalries on the atp, this might be the only one where the results depend almost completely on one players' form - nalbandian. whenever the top5-nalbandian shows up, roger has to call it a day. but if the argentine's too busy eating, rallying or has other non-tennis things in mind, roger can pull it off.

Nalbandian had one of his good days.. he did whatever he wanted to.. he didnt feel any pressure, and boredo was outplayed.. robredo couldnt find a single spot to play the ball..he was outlasted from the start, and the few things he tried, didnt work out.. nalbandian played tactically superb, and his backhand was on fire, as well as having a good day on forehand and fairly day on serve

good to see him in form, he has been playing a lot of tough matches this season and , besides from hating waking up early (no big secret there), he has been playing a lot and he claimed not being 100% fit after DC's...

gladly he could save form to another clash against roger.. in a blockbuster that might go either way.. depends on which nalbandian shows up tomorrow and which federer one too..

you never know.. ill just sit back and see the outcome! :D

but this is clay not indoor and tomorrow will be an hard match for Davi but returning well the first and not only the second serve of Rogi he can win also on clay.
today his crosscourt backhand and the following backhand dtl was an intelligent and fantastic scheme, adapted particullary to red clay (thanks Jaite :worship:)

Totally agree. The only matches between Federer and Nadal that people didn't know what to expect were the first ones on hardcourt (e.g. Miami '05, Dubai '06), before Federer started getting the upper-hand.

Just trademark David on one of his good days, pinpoint placement, superb angles esp. with the backhand, solid forehand, fantastic shot selection, steady first serve. Boredo wasn't all that bad, he was just outplayed in the vast majority of the rallies.

The difference is FedMug owns Davy but not Nalbi. That said, it's anyone's guess which way this will go, but I'll venture that there will be 3 sets of tennis in this match.

Of course, anything can happen. Each player is capable of beating the other one.

But there is a general feeling that in the case of putting money, Nalbandian´s victory seems less risky. I mean, c´mon, i think the Fed-Nalby poll is intended to show that feeling, not who we want to win the match.

I remember that Ljub match. It was a Friday semi-final, and I think David's mind was already on the plane to Croatia in preparation for the next week's Davis Cup QF's. Here in Monte Carlo, I think the motivation for David is for the present moment. Jaite's here supervising D's progress, and that's a good clue that D's serious....

do you equate Hidalgo with Fat Dave now or what? Hidalgo had down 5-1 and 30-15 on his own serve. he has no excuse for not sending Fed home. no excuse at all.

do you ever make sense. any betting man or woman will bet on Fat Dave tomorrow for a number of reasons:

1. Nalby knows Fed`s game better that anybody. he has played him 16 times. here i will repeat it since you are likely to miss it. 16 times.

2. Given Fed`s current form, he is vulnerable until proven differently.

3. Nalby has a clay title under his belt already and he made the finals of another clay event. that translates into more matches on clay for Nalby so far this year.

4. Nalby beat up on Fed the last 2 times he played him. basically, he is not scared like that chicken shit coward Davydenko. Nalby has balls and he is going to pull them out for Fed to see them.

my money says Nalby in 3 but Nalby will have to play smart offense and try to take Fed into the 3rd set and punish him with his all court game.

do i need to go on or do want me to work you over some more?

No, I have seen the type around here many times and you showed it after Nalbandian lost to Fish, or do you need me to quote your over the top knee jerk reactions?

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Federer and Nalbandian match up, that has been going on for years. It was a comment directed at the extreme reactions to when Nalbandian wins and loses, nothing else.

my mistake then. didnt mean to offend you in any way.

i do think i call it as cleanly as possible. if it stinks, i say it stinks.

Clay Monster is one of my favorite players but i am usually the first one to cut him down. some people think i hate the guy.

i am not happy with Nalby at all. he should have pocketed a slam or 2 already. i guess he just didnt hunger for it like Fed did. he didnt wat to put in the hard yard as those Australian players like to say.
