ohh, Jamie :awww:

I was wondering why he was pulling out of the tournaments, and it seems serious, fortunately he will recover. He was making the transition futures-challengers and was the player of the month at ITF site in February

Here's another article. http://www.theherald.co.uk/sport/headlines/display.var.2221001.0.Potentially_fatal_virus_leav es_Baker_facing_long_recovery_period.php

Sounds really nasty, I'm so glad he's ok. hug: I like him a lot, I hope he makes a full recovery. It'll be sad if he'snot able to play Wimbledon, but better that he rests if he needs to.

Does anyone know they exact virus? Was it staph? I have/had that and it's very infectious and can also be deadly.

When I saw him in Indian Wells, he was coughing and blowing his nose badly during his match. :scared:

Wishing him speedy recovery.

According the second article it's been three weeks since he was intensive care, and he has been recovering.

The article describes him being given (cortico-)steroids, which is a strong anti-inflammatory drug used to treat auto-immune diseases. That probably means that the presumed virus may caused his immune system to attack the platelets in his blood. It also means he could be suspectible to other auto-immune syndromes if it is a chronic condition, I certainly hope he will play competitive tennis again.

The Russian mafia did it.

Did anyone see Davydenko nearby? He's a terrible person, you know.

Jamie Baker is back playing, he is in Australia playing Futures events, last week he made the final in Darwin and he made another final this weekend.

The last event before he was in Thailand won it as a qualifier.
