Djokovic?

It seems that Novak has left his boistrous family supporters behind and is a more mature and self-controlled dude out there. No more chest-pumping. More watcher-friendly-shorter, pre-service ball-bouncing. All around, an easier guy to pull for. And considering his game's the best one out there, what's keeping him from being RF's successor, and VERY soon?

Two months ago, I was pulling for Rafael to do it. (Don't get me wrong, I liked RF before I first noticed Johnny Mac did. RF...has...just changed.) Now, I'm going with the ex-bad-boy Serb. Comments?

The semis and final of the AO were the 2 most important matches of his life to date, and now that the pressure of winning A grand slam is behind him , he can focus better and stay much calmer than before.

Nole is just a really warm human being, there was never really anything not to like, just a bunch of haters who were pissed off that he was dethroning the GOAT. Once he dethrones the clay GOAT at FO this year, he'll get even more haters complaining for a bunch of bullshit reasons. Nole doesn't need to stop getting support from his family or stop focusing his concencentration before serves...he is the most talented and unique player on tour, and that's all that matters.

Thanx, hra87. I like your likes also, and I HATED Djokovic. (BTW, isn't Gulbis a woman golfer?) But if Novak can overcome his past and be a sensible person on court, he will have pulled a bigger feat of maturing than even the Feds did. And regarding their games? Who the hell knows? The media creates and the media taketh away. That it's about five years behind the times when it comes to tennis, is because tennis is a little to international for the media's tiny brains; but mark my words, they've already turned the Fed's head, and it'll never turn back.

I've got to exit now and do some politics. Thanx to Menstennisforums for lightening it up for me a little this morning, and especially to yourself, hra87. I shall return.

Yeah, the posts are about the posters.

If anyone is interested, a person I think has recently really devoted her life to tennis and turned her back on non-tennis stardom, at a younger age than Djokovic even, is Maria Sharapova. And she deserves every bit of credit and support that she receives from lovers of the game. Djokovic will love the game, as anyone at the top will and must. It is an astounding and wonderful sport, tennis, and just because the talking heads on the networks treat Richard Pancho Gonzales like the talking heads did in the 1950's, and Jimmy Connors and the "spokesmen" and "spokeswomen" for the sport seem to be more about money than about the game, doesn't mean blah blah...But I'm getting started.

You know, I trust Feds. And although I liked Nadal's chances for El Numero Uno por mas que un ano, previously, if Djokovic intimidates the Feds, look out.

In my opinion, at their very best, Federer, Nalbandian, Rafa and Davydenko are still better than Djokovic, it's just that Roger and Rafa had been assclowning for a while. Roger specialy, I mean, wtf was that against Hidalgo? Rafa has been better but he hasn't won a title since last year's FO I think? so ya.. thats pretty sad for the world's #2.

And Davy and Nalby, well those guys are headcases. you never know when they are going to bring it but if they do. they own, as simple as that.

What Djokovic has and I admire a lot, even if I hate the faggot. is that he is the most confident player out there. even more than Rafa. he is like the new badass kid on the elite group and he wants the world to know it, so he is outspoken and arrogant. He also has a game with basicaly no weakneses but in my opinion, nothing spectacular that makes one as a tennis fan watch him play other than to see him lose :)

With Roger when he is playing well you get a lesson every time on how the sport should be played. with Rafa you get to see what a man who has been born with a gift for a specific surface can do. he is like a wall..a sight to see... with Davidenko you get to see an ugly man win and with Nalby a fat man run. either of this guys gives something to the viewer.. Djokovic gives nothing but a boring face and a bland style. I guess that's why he is so good with impressions.. he lacks personality of his own so he needs to copy those of others.

If he is banging sharapova at least I'll like him for that.

You don't have to troll GM with your "chat" threads. You're the only "fanbase" to do that, your shit does smell too, go create chat threads in Nole's forum ;)

I don't buy any of this hooey. Nole's eaten some humble pie lately, but he's like the loud kid at school with the big gang who pisses everyone off. He'll started yapping again soon.

Once he starts winning some points again and the next time he has his entourage behind him, goading him on, we'll see the chesting punching and the eye-balling and the car-air-freshener head-nodding in no time. ;) :(

And the ball bouncing of course.

The guy keeps saying that no one can stand "us" (the djokovic fans), but he is the one no one can stand.

EDIT: how old is he? apart from his irony/sarcasm, I'd say he was 15

No...see, he likes to make the comments about someone's age (i.e. mine), even to overturn someone's posts (i.e. mine) to find out this information...but he has not still presented himself properly and I'm not so obsessed by him, as he was by me, to overturn his posts...
Hope he will inform us soon. He must be 30+.

 A Nadal fan talking about ball-bouncing  Not to mention eye-balling and intimidatory body language

If you had seen Djokovic play this week, you would have seen his "entourage" are already there encouraging him, and as I'm assuming you have never met the boy, one wonders how you know anything about him, and how he will react to any given situation.

As for "humble pie" - please forgive me if I'm wrong, but Djokovoc is currently Number 1 in the Champions Race, and the first Grand Slam winner of 2008, - oh, and he bagelled Mr. Murray this afternnon in one of the best displays of tennis I have seen for a long time. If that's eating humble pie, God help the rest of the ATP Tour.

Like most Djokovic fans here on MTF, I tend to steer clear of GM, because the worst "big gang who piss everyone off" are the incredibly boring Nole-haters who troll around here trying to goad people into "flame wars" instead of concentrating on supporting their own favourites.

So why don't you all grow up the lot of you, and stop making stupid comments. Thank you and goodnight.

I really hope you are wrong. It is very clear to me that Novak is making an effort to behave well on the court (no injury time outs, no excessive ball bouncing, no tantrums etc.). I think he is a quick learner. :)

P. Antonius - strangely enough I do always try to be objective! I even posted in support of Nadal here not long ago - and I certainly would never go into his Fan Forums to "troll"

I don't disagree that there are an awful lot of idiot DjokoTards here on GM, most of whom don't post much in his Forum. However, there are many equally idiotic Djokovic haters too, who seem to find it fun to stir this first group up, and cause trouble by "trolling". In my view, they are all as bad as one another, and the continual bickering and stupidity has made most of the more sensible GM posters stay well away. Remember the days when great posters like cobalt60, NicoFan, Mrs, B and Mandoura for example, were regularly here on GM, talking about tennis, and then wonder why so many of them have been driven away

I know some people get some kind of kick out of trolling and causing trouble - and guess it's a case of "different strokes for different folks", - but sadly the trolling on this subject on GM has got very much out of control in my opinion, and certainly I have seen you personally make anti-Serbian comments which I would deem racist and offensive, and would probably be removed if you inserted the word "black"or "pakistani" or "gay" in front of your comments.

If you and some others don't like Djokovic, that is your preroogative, just as it is mine to dislike Mr. Nadal, and some others to dislike Federer, Murray or whoever. Some harmless, healthy banter is fun (like the Piggy Roasting and Duck Hunting threads for example), and I loved J'Torian's Screech and Neanderthal thread, which was clever, witty but never hurtful, but some things just go too far in my opinion, and it's a shame. Good night :wavey:

Okay, missy. Don't get me wrong here.

I don't intend to troll. I don't hate Nole for the sake of it, he just has an attitude that means I love to see him lose. It makes watching more interesting. I can't like everyone!

I argue that Nadal doesn't have the same body language and attitude that Nole does. You may think otherwise, but seriously, who has all the 'My First Time' 'Third Player in World' bullshit?

Nole lost early in the last tournament, it's called humble pie, he lost to a someone-or-other so he's not doing all his typical posturing, but after his next big win at a big event, it'll be back.

Mark my words. We'll see who's right.

Class is so overrated here.I suppose it is measured by the way Federer behaves. If Rafa starts dominating for a long time, the main word for qualifications and disqualifications will be fighting spirit or modesty, and if that happens to be Novak, the magic word could be charm or personality.Everything is relative, and so is "class".

Djokovic = Federer. I can't differ them on the court anymore! They could start switching playing as the same player, so that the dynasty continues even after the first specimen of Roger Federer retires

Very conservative point of view. There are many stadiums between the extrems.Anyway, talking about class, reminds me how my father who is quite conservative guy, imagined class.Once, he gave me an advice-if you want to be a lady, don't be a journalist (as he was). But, I remember I thought-lady, what a surpassed term...So, I am more for authenticity, as long as you don't insult, endanger others and know the way to handle different situations.
