MC R1: Tipsarevic def Mathieu 6-4 2-6 6-3

Not a bad play from both of them, not at all. Tipsy brought more power into the match and was more braver one going for his shots and that produced a win. He can win the next one against Lapenti too.

he didn't wear his glasses!

expected result

04-21-2008, 02:47 PM
that lucky break point conversion at 2-2 in the 3rd :smash:

04-21-2008, 02:47 PM
nice playing by tipsaveric, i thought he would win this match...

04-21-2008, 02:48 PM
Not a bad match from either player, Tipsarevic just played the bigger shots better, and he was a bit more consistent when it mattered :yeah:

04-21-2008, 02:48 PM
Those guys made the strangest noises. I felt like I was in a cow pen.

Tough match - amazed Tipsarevic was able to play on, that ankle turn looked nasty, but he kept going and battled out the win.

Well done to him.

At least his opponent in the next round has been on court for 3 hours + so won't be all that fresh either.

Great win Tipsy  First two sets Janko was little bit defensive but in 3rd he was in control when was going for shots. PHM was forcing his backhand on serve all time but Janko manage to be aggressive in 3rd set... My prediction was right. Now try to be consistent and beat Lapentti next :yeah:

04-21-2008, 03:06 PM
Well done Janko :woohoo: I am very pleased with this result :) Hope the ankle recovers quickly.

04-21-2008, 03:08 PM
congrats Tipsy :yeah:

04-21-2008, 03:17 PM
well done Tipsy :D

04-21-2008, 03:26 PM
:worship: Too good, Janko :worship:

If he played like this all the time he would be top 20 for sure.
Even PHM is almost top 10 :)

Fired Up!

I am so unimpressed by Mathieu, I wonder how he reached #12 with this poor game. :ignore:

Hopefully Paulo is not entering a downward spiral here. Good win for Tipsarevic.

Maybe, just maybe, he has played better than that the past year. Just a suggestion.

04-21-2008, 04:23 PM
well done Janko.
Keep going~;)

04-21-2008, 04:36 PM
Go Tipsy! :rocker2:

04-21-2008, 04:40 PM
I was hoping Paulo would win to get his morale up. was not meant to be

Janko is too crazy talented to be below 30

04-21-2008, 04:41 PM
As Serb I am glad, as a tennis fan I am not glad. I don't like Tipsarevic as person.

04-21-2008, 04:57 PM
Janko :bounce: Nice one! and he shaved!! :D

04-21-2008, 05:00 PM
Good match :yeah:
Congrats Janko :rocker2: :rocker2: I'm glad he was able to play despite the ankle turn  Good luck against Lappentti now :rocker2:

04-21-2008, 05:12 PM
I don't like when a player leaps heavily and then runs for a 3-set win  unless he loses in the next round, Tipsa is in my black "Serena Williams list"

04-21-2008, 05:58 PM
PHM  He didn't play a bad match really, just couldn't grasp any of the several GPs he had in that early third set service game before being broken on a lucky Tipsy return netcord... After that the Serb simply didn't let up and broke again with some aggressive play to close out the match.

Great job Janko!

Another great quality win for Tipsarevic!

Over the past year, Janko has had wins over Youhzny (2x), Murray, Gonzalez, Stepanek, Safin, Hewitt, Llodra, Verdasco (2x), & Lopez (2x).

Keep it up!

04-21-2008, 10:51 PM
Good on ya Janko, keep it going! Hope he stays clear of injuries.

04-21-2008, 10:53 PM
Amazing fh winers by Tipsy in last few games...

04-21-2008, 11:41 PM
Well done, Janko! Hope the ankle injury isn't as severe as it looked.

Good win Tipsy, Mathieu you had it coming the way you played, sorry man. One annoying thing though- the grunting those two did, reminded me a little bit of cows. Hope the ankle is OK, he injured it earlier in the year so maye it was sensitive. Certainly looked spectacular though, a bit like hopscotch (his mad attempt not to fall after a bad turn on the ankle).
