Moya has often struggled against big servers even on clay, so it doesn't surprise me that much that Querrey was able to serve well enough against him for two out of three sets on a warm day with reasonably fast conditions. I recall Dent beating Novak in the first round here a few years ago, so Americans can come up with a big scalp in Monte Carlo occasionally.

I didn't see the match so I can't comment on Moya's performance, but it's good that Querrey got a big win in MC. The guy's trying on what's obviously not his favourite surface and it would have been a little harsh to see him lose again in rd 1

Even though i cant stand Querrey, i have to give the man props for having the balls to show up in MC and not run away like Blake or Roddick and even more so for taking out Lord Carlos. :hatoff:

Surprised, but not shocked. Querrey is a dangerous guy when he is "on" and it isn't like Moya is at the top of his game these days.

Another good victory on Euro clay for him after beating Lucho Horna in Estoril last year and lost to Juan Monaco 6-4 in the third set. I really didn't think he'd be able to get past Moya, excellent job Sam!

I always enjoyed the stories regarding Moya and Umag, the tournament in Croatia he won 5 or 6 times, he is the one and only Lord of this tournament, he always plays the last matches, he always hooks up with a couple of new hostesses, and gets drunk almost every night, and he still is able to put it together in the end; but against a GOAT type of player like Samyboy (who is up there with Isner and DR.Ivo when it comes to talent) he can' do it anymore..
