Most people thought this would be the final as long as Denko didn't tank along the way. Who's going to take this tomorrow?

:spit:

Seriously though it will more or less depend on whether Davydenko can handle Federer's slice because that shot of Federer has destroyed Davydenko on many occasions in the past.

Federer isn't playing great tennis, Davydenko seems to be in great form: therefore I feel Federer should win this one in maybe three tight sets

Kolya would have to be pretty retarded to tank away a final...no one in their right mind does that.

Davydenko in two I think. If he plays like he did today even Roger at his best is only going to win that match because of his mental strength and right now he is well below top level. If it is close I think Federer will be able to clinch it at the big moments but if he plays like HE did today then there won't be any big moments because he will be destroyed.

Who's doing the tanking?

Based on DDenko previous matches against Federer and on Federer recent performances, could be either one

But koyla did play better than Fed today. :)

russian has never won against roger with a h2h of 0-11, but its a great opportunity for the russian to open up his account against roger.

he can take some encouragement from andy roddick and ofcourse rogers 180 degree decline (does that makes sense) and ofcourse the russian is very consistent from the baseline whereas fed sucks on baseline these days, he simple cant play long rallies without making tons of Unforced errors so he can surely exploit that

but ill be optimistic and tip roger to take 1st title of the year despite his pathetic performances

damn it roger, damnit, damnit, damnit (phew, now i feel much better)

No idea who is going to win this clay court match. Federer and davydenko matches end up being interesting because he is the only guy who seems to be able to push federer to his physical limits on hard courts. They are both usually exhausted by the end of the 3rd set and Fed's serve usually sees him through. A good test for mono-fed?

Davydenko will win... Federer is not in a very good shape, he doesn't seem to be so confident, all his 1st sets are strange... he takes many time to wake up. Davydenko who is a fast player, wouldn't give any chance for Roger. that's why Nikolaï will win... in 3sets I think.

This looks like a nightmare scenario for the Federeresians. Fed has been in a little bit of funk and now he faces the tour`s hottest commodity.

So who is wallking away with this one? my own perception is that if Davydenko can stop shitting all over himself for a change when he sees the mighty Roger Federer across the next, he can finally teach him a lesson off the ground.

we can all recall their match on clay in Paris last year. The Russian shrimp--armed with a deadly 2 handed backhand--led in all 3 sets but proceeded to choke it away.

i say he gets his first win over Fed in 3 long sets.

it's funny, one year ago, if there would be a final Federer/ Davy, everyone would say, "oh c'mon Fed is gonna win! he beat him 11 times! he's too strong for davy...". But now, it's the Opposite... which change in a short time! strange. it would be cool if Fed win :) but it will be Davy, happy for him too!

I'm just happy to see them in the final, should be fun to watch. It's true that Federer seems to have deliberately tanked some SFs (and Qfs?) and that all he really cares about for the moment is the RG.

Somehow I think Federer will not be able to bring himself to lose intentionally or unintentionally to Kolya though. But he is still somewhat of an enigma to me (Federer that is) and he may not take this as seriously as I think he will.

Who knows, like I said it's just gonna be hella interesting to see these two in a final on clay.

Federer will beat Davydenko in two comfortable sets. 6-4 6-4 maybe. Easy viewing, if I can watch it. Honestly, given current form, you would give Nikolay maybe a chance, but he has himslef said that he is very tired, and when added to his abysmal record against Federer and Federer's raging throbbing yearning for a releasing victory, I think we will see a bit of a restoration of reality. :D

bottom line is this: russian shrimp knows he can belet Fed off the ground. this is the surface to do it on. Fed`s biggest weapons are taken by the dirt as soon as he walks on the surface.

if the russian shrimp can stop choking long enough on his power drin k when he sees Fed in the flesh across the nest from him, he can win this.
