ITA. I was sort of holding my breath waiting to see what would happen with Nalbandian and Djoko. What a relief that Roger is into the final! He's the underdog in the final but the good news is that he defended his MC points. He looks better on clay than he did last year and he has a chance to gain points in Rome.

I'd be really surprised if Roger wins tomorrow but let's hope he plays smartly and gives Nadal lots of trouble whatever the outcome.

Couldn't agree more, every win is just so sweet after all the shit he went through at the beginning of this year.

Well played by Roger today, he's far surpassed my expectations of him this tournament. Nadal is the clear favorite in the final, so my expectations are pretty low, but I do hope Jose is able to get him to try some new tactics out instead of grinding away like last year. And he'll have to raise his game a couple of notches higher still. All said, I'm really ecstatic about this week regardless, good going Roger.

It's going to be tough to beat Nadal, BUT I think being an underdog this week has served Fed well. Nobody is going to give him a chance tomorrow and that's a good thing at this point in time. He's been attacking with the CC FH and the off FH, keeping the BH deep and not going for too much, moving well, and serving decently. If he can get an early lead, who knows?

I think he's listening to Higgy and beginning to trust him. His point over to his box after beating Dave was indicative of that, as were his comments after his near first round defeat where he mentioned he talked things over with Higgy.

As I said in the match against Nalby, as long as Fed keeps the fighting spirit alive, I will be happy. He has far exceeded my expectations in this tournament. I predicted a QF and he is now in the final. He has also lost no points at MC.

A win in the final will be a fantastic bonus but I am not expecting it.

He has shown some technical maturity and his FH in his clay play against Nalby and Novak and I hope he carries that form into the finals. He had a relatively poor serving performance today as well - he definitely needs to improve that for the final.

I thought it was 54% and I am really not concerned about the 94% simply because Nadal on clay is a different proposition. Roger needs some cheap points and even if it is 60%, it is low - he needs it to be closer to 70% tomorrow.

Someone posted an interview with French TV on rf.com. Apparently Roger said that he was disappointed with his performance in the final last year and that he really didn't have a plan. And that now he's sure he's going to be better prepared. Also that tomorrow he'll have to move a lot and and his play in the fore-court will make the difference...

The weird thing is, I could deal with a loss tomorrow. A win would be great, obviously. But with everything negative that has been said since the Australian Open, just getting to the finals, which not many expected, is wonderful. too bad NTG retired on Rogi... this is getting to be a silly habit... but anyway, Rogi has beaten two big opponents and now takes on the biggest clay ogre ever!

so once again, it's the Rogi and Rafa show in a TMS clay final... can it be third-time lucky for ROGI? will his plan w new SPANISH coach Higueras be the key to a win?

ALLEZ, RODGEUR!!! Time to win vs. the odds!!!

If he doesn't win tomorrow (I think he has decent shot) then I hope he wins something else during the clay season at least.

After wathing the sf I was just extremely happy with what I saw from Rogi's play and could care less about that joker's retirement.

That's till I caught up with few friends over lunch just now and 2 of them told me "hey your man got lucky, in a slump and had player who could have beaten him having to retire obviously his opponent wasn't fit!" Well these are the one who generally follow all sports results but could care less abt watching any tennis matches or have any ideas of the players "history". All they saw was the "Federer def Djokovic 6-3 3-2 (RET)"

Disrespectful coward you are joker if all you have is a sore throat :wavey:

Enough rant on the joker, I was just being agitated by the general comments I get. Thankfully those who'd watched the match could certainly tell the different.

Good luck Rogi for the final, hope for another good match that will be all I'm asking for!

All I'm asking for today is that fed fights his guts, no matter the outcome!! It feels so good to see him playing like that again, and fighting like that... woow!! Really good!! And I haven't seen him being so focused, and making so few UE, especially with his backhand!! The best will win, but whatever, Fed already had an awesome week and that's the most important thing regarding his way to RG!!:smooch:
