Pretty much routine win for James.
King Oscar next will be very tough next even though Oscar prefers grass.

Never in doubt, Calleri couldn't close it out last year with 40-0 on his own serve and before that 6-2 up on clay, no way he's winning here. Good win for James regardless, King Oscar will be tough, even though it his worst surface.

What's that, the sound of engine turbines leaving Houston to Nice with a large Argentine and a blond coach.

Tough for Blake against the King.

Terrible performance from Gordo. Now I have to watch Blake in the semis :silly:

Argentinian tennis is in a sorry state when no player can reach a SF in any of three simultaneous MM clay events :o :tape:

Calleri spent too much time giving strategic advise to Vishy Anand yesterday, no doubt that left him mentally exhausted for this match. Now it will be an interesting challenge to see how James will cope with the King.

i think you called this match spot on if i am not mistaken. good work.

i was wrong. Calleri cant even beat Blake on his worst surface.

Americans are nearly unbeatable on clay as long as it is in the US. Play the French Open in the US and Rafa would never get passed Blake or Roddick not to mention Isner.

Blake fought hard and was able to pull it out despite having an inferior 1 handed backhand.

Not surprised tbh.

For those who said Blake was going to be on his way out of the top 10 this year, he's making you look foolish.

Apparently Calleri was treated for a thigh injury and wasn't moving well, so maybe those criticizing his fight were doing so without full knowledge of the situation?

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5713943.html

Calleri, 31, called for a trainer to look at his sore left thigh at the end of the first set and, Blake said, "wasn't moving the same in the second set."

Why is Blake dominating this? I'm starting to think that green clay is a regular hardcourt with some dust added.

Too bad thats irrelevent as Houston is on red clay

Still, it's probably just some ground up hardcourt. Don't forget Miami is just coagulated purple clay.Who cares what it is as long as it's purple :hearts: :D
