"Nbc" Die please...

Now I know why no matches have been coming on from 10 to 1am pacific. Stupid nbc blacked out Espn's coverage window so they can show their tape delayed crapfests. It pisses me off that this network is so low class and ratings hungry, that west coast viewers are missing out on 3 hours of coverage per day because Nbc wants to force viewers to watch tennis on their channel and no one elses. Ugghhhhhh, now how will I see the Fed/Hewitt match now.

Pretend you don't have cable and don't worry about it :)

if it makes you feel better, there is a rain delay, so nobody is seeing this Fed-Hewee match. But yeah, I dont wanna see a Serena kicking the crap outta Jennifer

I heard that they opted to show the end of Henman/Ancic live instead of the Serena/Cappy blowout.

NBC showed the end of Henman/Ancic "live" (but it wasn't live for West Coast viewers :o). Then they showed the Serena/Jen blowout. Then part of Roger/Lleyton with some of Amelie/Suarez mixed in.

East Coast viewers were treated to 1 hour coverage.

What's the point of 1 hour of coverage if you know there's 50 percent chance of a rain delay?

Well, I guess some live Fed is better than nothing. Even if it was just for 30 minutes :scared:

Prior, we got a taped showing of Amelie/Paola (second set), so I guess it wasn't that bad...

NBC has royally messed up coverage. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it was much better last week when ESPN had it all and was at least cutting back and forth a little and was showing live tennis almost always.

Well I'm glad to see a post in here, cuz I posted the black-out on wtaworld, but nobody responded. I was beginning to think maybe it's just my cable :o

I don't like ESPN, but this NBC crap makes ESPN look like USA/TNT. This is rediculous! Now I didn't get to See Roddick vs. Schaulken or the rest of Hewitt vs. Federer :fiery:

A TV company dying, wonder what that would look like exactly.

Well, NBC is a corporation, and legally, corporation are persons. So NBC *can* die.

I wasn't saying it wasn't possible. Just that images of all NBC's employees spontaneously dropping dead are quite funny, if you are so inclined to such black humour.

JMac: Roddick is a better player than Henman.

BTW, even tho this is Roddick glad NBC is playing the better match. Grosjean getting railroaded by Fed.

On the west coast, we were treated today to the first two sets of Roddick vs. Ancic. NBC stayed with the match till the rain delay in the second set. I left the TV on and went into another room. So, I have no idea if they cut away to Federer vs. Grosjean. My intuition tells me they didn't because after the station break following the suspension of play the commentators never even bothered to mention that match or to even update us on its progress. Instead, the NBC producer allowed Mac and the other guy to blather on for 5 minutes before he cut to another commercial.

Back from the commericial, I had hopes that they would finally get around to showing a set or two of Federer vs. Grosjean. This being NBC of course, what were the chances of that. Instead, they showed the third set of Williams vs. Mauresmo. How ridiculous was that! Left the TV on and walked into another room.

Came back for the last three points of the match. OK, I thought, this will be the true test. If they don't show Federer vs. Grosjean now, it will just prove how out of touch this network is with the sport of tennis. So, what do they do? They take us to taped coverage of Martina Navratilova playing mixed doubles.

No wonder this damned sport has no fans in the US. All we get to see are fat girls bashing the ball at each other (i.e., Serena, Lindsay, Monica), grannies playing tennis (i.e., Martina), and to top it all off a graceless hack who might as well play the match from the royal box (he is already standing far back enough). Keep it up NBC. A couple more days of this and the sport is all but dead in the US.

OH NO, not taped mixed doubles coverage!! WTF, --wow, that's really crossing the line.

I always think there is a conspiracy--that they don't want to expose too much of Federer and JC Ferrero and they try and conceal them from the public as much as possible.

Well, I dont think any of the coverage was more fcuked up than the Saturday women's SF. That's when I knew NBC probably bullies ESPN around

Yeah, Mrs. Guga, the conspiracy angle has a lot of currency with me. I wasn't too keen on the womens' SF coverage last year or this year. I think they are big bullies.
