Omg, I might be cheering for Roddick in the semis...

If the evitable happens and he meets Henman. I'd rather Roddick be in the finals against Fed than Henman, although Heman might find the occasion of being in the Wimby final too much and choke.

In order for Roddick to be in the finals, he'll have to find some way of overcoming Henman:

Henman leads 3:1
2004 Indian Wells Hard Q 67 76 63 Henman
2003 Paris Carpet S 76 76 Henman
2003 US Open Hard 128 36 67 36 Roddick
2003 Washington Hard S 16 63 76 Henman

Hard 2:1 Henman
Carpet 1:0 Henman

What about you?

Bit early to be assuming it's Federer in the final - Mr Hewitt is certainly capable of taking him out on Wednesday. But anyway, let's think. Roger seems to like playing those he has good h2h over (who doesn't?), which would suggest Roddick. After his IW semi win, he was asked who he'd prefer to play from the second semi, and there was no hesitation: Henman. I expect he'd love to have another shot at him at Wimbledon. My dream final.

By the way, if it's Hewitt in the final, then I wonder who he would want to play. The man he's never lost to, or the guy who beat him two weeks ago at Queen's?

If Andy is playing, it's almost always a no-brainer for me for whom I am going to cheer.

Roddick vs Henman

100% support for Roddick in this match from my side :yeah: :clap2:

I'm rooting for Henman all the way, and if he can't win, Federer. So... there will be no Roddick rooting from me. Although i did sort of want him to beat Popp today.

Me too tennischick!! The English part of me is cheering for Henman all the way - but in my opinion, Roger is by far the best all-round player on the circuit today, and I think he deserves to defend his Wimbledon crown! Hate to say it, but I would even be cheering for Hewitt if he comes up against Duckboy!!!

Andy Roddick defenitely. The whole court would be against Federer if Tim passes to the finals. But that might be an advantage to Federer as well, the pressure might get on Tim.

If I am Fed, I want to play Henman as much as you guys think Roddick sucks, Andy's number 2 for a reason. Henman has played Fed this year, Fed beat him pretty handily last time they met and Fed knows that game pretty well. Andy and Fed havn't met since last year. Andy can do alot of things he couldn't last year, the most notible is the ROS and volley. Andy won't crack under the crowd of London, after already winning USO. Tim on the other hand, I see that as a possiblity. Tim knows hes getting old and may never make it back. There's just alot of baggage Tim brings along with him, the loss earlier in the year to Fed, all this being about being England's only hope in this tourny. Andy can go out there to play with nothing to lose, no one expects much, that and the fact that Fed and Andy havn't played in awhile vote in Andy's favor, last year they went 1:2 with Fed having the edge...Roddick is the stronger...lol not saying Roddick will win, I am just saying if I am Fed, I will pick Tim but niether guys is exactly easy.

I'm sure Roger would rather face Andy than Tim in the finals, for sure.

Hey Rosie, shouldn't you be busy cleaning out your trailer again for the hundredth time in a vain effort to avoid watching Roddick? Try not to breathe in so many fumes, ok? We wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.

I totally agree. If Tim gets to the final, most likely he will get so nervous he would break down.

If I were Federer, I would rather face Henman, easily. Roddick can use his serve and serve alone (not to mention his other shots) to win games, and push a set to a TB and maybe win it. Henman's serve can't dig him out of holes and win as many cheap points as well as Andy's can. And besides that, I'm pretty sure Henman will feel all the pressure of his nation if he makes it into the finals. Heck he already feels it in the 1st round match-ups that he should be rolling on through, but he's hardly doing that.

Well, I think what the question was, is if you were Fed, who you like to face in the finals of Wimbly. I know that Fed likes a challenge. I know that, he would actually like to play the better player, that's his nature. He enjoys the compitition, I am sure he enjoys winning but I have often heard him say that he likes to be tested. If that is the case then Roddick would be the guy he would want to face in the final...

o, thanks for the badrepp on my last post Poo...

If I were Fed, I would be afraid of nobody! ;) I don´t think Federer has to worry about these kinds of questions.

You won't be alone TF. Come on Andy! Do it for us (U.S.)! :D ;) But a Roddick/Henman Wimbledon semifinal would be a classic in the making! :) But they both have to win 1 more match to make it to the semi's.

[QUOTE=Fumus] Andy can go out there to play with nothing to lose, no one expects much QUOTE]

This description might suit someone like Karlovic, but not Andy. Number 2 in the world always has something to lose and expects great things to happen.

Deboogle!.
06-29-2004, 11:50 PM
But Andy would have less pressure on him than Tim. Andy knows he wouldn't be favored in a match against Roger whereas everyone in the whole country would be pressuring Tim. Plus Andy's h2h is so bad that not many people would expect him to win. He might be #2 in the world but he would certainly be a pretty big underdog in a final against Roger IMO

Just about every player would choose to face Henman over Roddick but given the way Federer keeps talking about positivie H2H records giving him confidence + the way he thrashed Roddick last year I have a feeling he would prefer to play Andy.

But really.........WHO CARES
