i find it very funny that flip thinks he can still win wimbledon!

Why

He may have if Fed didn't exist.

Remember a guy named Goran who had to get in with a WC in 2001

I think Mark meant that he WANTS to win Wimby more than anything and that he COULD have won it if this perfect player on fire called Federer would have been there last year. I don't think it's that weird that he thinks he can win it. Look at last years final, even though it was a straight sets victory for Federer.. Mark pushed it to the tiebreak twice... how many players did that to Fed in the rest of that tournament or in this tournament ... Mark on top of his game with his mind in the right place is capable of a lot, just not of beating Federer in his current form.

I would love to see Henman win and I think he probably may want the title a bit more than Philippoussis because he knows this is his best chance and he is ready for it. I surely hope he can get to the final but needs to heat Mark tomorrow to continue on.

Tim of course. This is his country and "the one" most likely for him to win. As for Mark, I think he believes he could Wimbledon, but I think right now, he'd like to just win some matches! :)

Henman wants it more than anyone, scud included, but mark is a more gifted player and has more tools to be a slam champion than henman.

scud will win in 4 sets

I'm hopeful that Henman will surprise me and take this match. This has been his best year, it could happen. Here's hoping.

As for who wants it more? Stupid question.

[B][COLOR=Navy]After beating Roger once this year, reaching to the finals of the Pacific life open, after reaching to the semis of french open. Having game so well suited to wimbledon If Henman cant win this year, then he wont be able to win wimbledon at all. I hope he raises his game for the second week, with the game he has played in the first week, he doesn't hold a chance against Flip.

I think Mark will win. Mark Tim or Andy will make the final. Rogi, Moya or Hewitt will make the final on the other side.

Go Flip:)!

06-28-2004, 03:51 AM
Tim will win in 4 or 5 sets..it will be tough, but
tim wants the title more than anyone else, surely more than flip...
This is by far the tim's best chance of winning, support henman!!

Henman has not been playing well this tournament and will be challenged, if not beaten. Philippoussis is hopeless at this tournament whether or not he makes it past the Brit tomorrow.

06-28-2004, 05:08 AM
Hard to say

I mean, Henmans been up in the quaters and semi's so many times, but to no avail....but he hasnt made it to a final, which Mark has, and so Mark would know how heartbreaking it is to make it all that way and to not win

Still, the pressures on Henman, home tourney, big soccer and rugby losses for the poms this week, so its all on his shoulders right now

You cant discount Marks desire to win this tourney....to be able to find his form here, and last year, after returning from the various surgeries he's had to have on his knee, he may see this as one of his last remaining chances to grab a grand slam win

I hope to god Flip loses. I so want Henman to win, especially after I saw him running the Olympic torch! He seems soo nice.

I know im Australia I should go 4 Mark but stuff that

As a Brit it's painful to say, but Phillippoussis pretty easily. If you consider how Henman has played so far any DECENT player would have beaten him by now. Maybe his success at the French has affected his grass court form.

06-28-2004, 06:32 AM
I really hope Henman wins. His time is running out and his chances will be less and less every year.

06-28-2004, 07:09 AM
It's amazing that throughout the whole 5 months, Mark had done nothing but coming back to wimby, here he is finding his form and motivation.

My commentator VJ mentioned few days back that he bumped into Mark in the locker room and just said to him : "Great tournament here last year", and very quickly Mark smiled and look at him then said : "Don't worry, I'll win this one day" something like that. Caught VJ in surprise with that statement coming out of nowhere.

It just seems like he really does believe that he can win this title.

But Tim did seem very confident facing Mark in his interview, implying he knows very well how to deal with Mark's game.

Should be a very interesting match to watch, I hope.

I think they both want it very much and Mark will win. He seems to be playing ok so far and Henman is lucky to have made it this far against mediocre opposition. He hasnt been playing well at all and will be beaten tonight.

Flip playing like :dog:

06-28-2004, 05:48 PM
the match has only just started on tv here, and Henman was brilliant in that first game

and now he's one set away from dumping Mark in straights :(

So Marks playing pretty badly then, or has Henman kept his end up like he did in the first game?

Bad line call at 5-5, on break point for Henman. Henman's lob was clearly out, but given in, the ref has just given Henman the set and a 2-0 lead...

06-28-2004, 05:52 PM
wow, this tells a story...

Winning % on 1st Serve....24 of 25 = 96 %
Winning % on 2nd Serve....12 of 17 = 71 %

Winning % on 1st Serve....25 of 36 = 69 %
Winning % on 2nd Serve....8 of 20 = 40 %

trixy :wavey:

henman 2 sets too nil up !!

06-28-2004, 06:29 PM
Mark just had a set point at 5-4, but lost it

that could come back to haunt him...

06-28-2004, 06:41 PM
Mark leads 4-1 in the tie, Henman on serve

heres hoping he can at least get 1 set off of Tim

06-28-2004, 06:48 PM
Good fighting by Mark to take the third set. Great to see him fire up too.

06-29-2004, 06:54 AM
Tim got his first serves in most of the time while Mark was not his usual in serve. Henman served a lot of Ace's but Philip served none in the first set. I think that made the difference.
