Gaudio...and his negativity..

Why Gaudio uses a psychologist:

Gaudio said: "In Paris when i arrived to the locker room, everybody congratulated me and the firts thing I thought was: "I must be the worst champion in the history of Roland Garros'."

He keeps saying:"For example I look at Coria and I see that he knows he is good, he was born to be a crack. He knows it and that gives him confidence to play even better than he can really play. You see his confidence in his face. On the other side I dont feel that way - that's not me."

He says that he is too negative and he needs to change the way he thinks. Well, yes he doesnt have the mentality of a real champ. Could a Sport Psychologist help? In the middle of the matcha against Coria (when he was loosing) he said to his coach: "I am leaving."

Hmmm that's not the main reason why he had to require a sports psychologist help. Gaston said that after the critics after Malaga (DC semis against Spain) last year he felt sad cause he could not have the approval of the press and the tennis fans in Arg. For him it was hard to enter a court knowing that the people would shout insults at him, specially cause before losing his matches in DC he was the hero of our country in the same event.
That was a hard thing to digest and he lost interest to play tennis, he was even suffering emotionally when playing. So he thought the possible solution to feel better and try to enjoy his tennis was working with Pablo Pecora. It seems to be working. They still work together to keep evolving. It won't stop only because he won RG.
I think that those quotes from Viva Mag only show that he's a humble person instead of believing that because he won RG he's the best player on clay or something...

Champs are are super confident...what is over confident I dont know....but hear Hewitt @ Wimbledon:"I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone. I'm trying to win Wimbledon, for myself more than anything. Yeah, doesn't worry me what people think. You know, I go out there and, you know, I believe I'm still good enough to beat any given player on any given day."
I dont think Gaudio could ever say what Hewitt is saying. A real champ doesnt need approval. A real champ if you think about it is someone who believes in himself not matter what people say. It is a loser mentality not to win a match because you havent won one or two. Melug, I am not sure what you mean about Viva Mag quotes.

yo ..........i think it suckes that gaston is so negative about his game ............ i dont know .....when i heard that he was thinking about giving up ...............................hmm it just didnt made any sence to me.

wassup wit dat??? ..........why is he so negative???
everybody on the atp tour repect him ..........and every player said that he is one of the best clay court players of all time ............ and that on his day he can beat everybody....(that was even before he won RG)

im following his career for 5 years now

i saw his 2 matches live on ARAG world team cup ........... and at that time i thought ........man he is really in good form now ....... something will come out of RG .............and when i saw his draw for the RG (on the first day of RG) .........i knew he could go all the way with a bit of luck

what i wanna say is ........that i simply dont understand his negativity!!!
...when I loose a match im so angry ......and im only screaming how i want to quit playing tennis .......but after a while ....im the old one again.....wanting to kick some arse!

so people ....do you understand this man?

Those quotes you transcripted were taken from an Argentine magazine called viva.

"A real champ if you think about it is someone who believes in himself not matter what people say. " <----Gaston never said he considers himself a champion. And I remember Rios saying something like that and look how he ended...
