Here we go again :rolls: Clay :p

I would be happy with 3 or 4 wins on the dirt this season :p
Ivan will play Monte Carlo,Rome,Hamburg and RG (possibly WTC too).

Good luck

He won't do good there. He's not seeded, and every of the seeded players is far better on than him on clay. Also he didn't do good on HC so how can we expect good results on clay?
If MC, Rome, Hamburg and RG are the only tournaments he plays, I predict 1 win.

Ivan is not bad on clay as many people think. he can atleast return serve on clay and stay in rallies, if he can cut down on UE's he can win some matches and his ranking wont go down much, rest of the season there is NOTHING to defend.

I don't think he is especially bad on clay, but he isn't playing his best tennis anymore. It's possible he won't be seeded in RG, and I don't see him making 3rd round that way. Even if he's seeded, I don't think it'll happen. Hope I'm wrong.

Whoever plays the final here will have of played 5 matches in 5 days right before the French. Most players are there to get a few more matches in before the Grand Slam, i dont think too many are interested in being exhausted heading into Paris so we might see surprising results here based on that.

Wont talk about the first set (just for the record he had *2-0) or the second.
In third set.
2-0* and a bp on Monaco serve

5-3* 0-40 on Monaco serve,3 mps - on the second he constructed the point well, got an easy volley in head height (a weak attempt of pasing shot),and hit it right back to Monaco who of course couldnt miss that.

*5-4 30-0 - to 30-40,then saved one bp but got broken.

in TB was 0-3** and 2-5** down, both times came back but couldnt hold anymore.

His level of play today was very good though, easily the best match of the year on clay, and one of the better overall in all surfaces.
But I just cant believe this choke. He will never have this kind of chance again to reach a clay final.Heartbreaking loss and he should be ashamed of choking this way.
Such an experienced player letting this go and had no concentration in key moments-unreal.

With this kind of level he will easily win 2 rounds ar RG but...I hope he never forgets this choke. So he will be more careful when he has mps:smash:

What a joke.

I understand him. It's the last Olympics where he can still win a few matches, and he obviously cares a lot about it, so I understand his decision. There will be a lot more TMSs than Olympics.
For Roland Garros, nice win today, but unlike you I think tomorrow (or on Friday since it will most probably rain tomorrow) will be a pretty tough match, 7-5 7-6 7-6 against Prodon and I'm pretty sure Junqueira is a better player than Prodon, so I think he'll take a set or two against Ivan. Hopefully not the match. Good luck Ivan.

Not the same player who beat Davydenko in the last round, thats for sure.

Anyway,he had a very good clay season with a SF in Portschach and a 4th round here at RG,including a fantastic win against Davydenko.

All the best for the grass season and I hope he will play attacking tennis like he did in some clay matches and not the moonballing like today vs. Monfils  :o

He won't do good there. He's not seeded, and every of the seeded players is far better on than him on clay. Also he didn't do good on HC so how can we expect good results on clay?
