Good list. Hope Berdych can win here, but it looks quite open and the title could be anyone's.

Giving a WC to a 32 year old number 4 of the Alternates.......as if there were no young german talents at all

Well, I think Schuettler will still get in, so he won't need the wc. Hopefully.

It is a little bit suprising. There are still 2 SE-spots to be cleared, Tsonga and Berdych had injuries and I think they won't play so Rainer should be in anyway.

Where did you read that about Tsonga, Renaud? He said yesterday in Monte-Carlo it will probably be too close for Rome for him.

Gasquet said he won't play:

Maybe Safin can get Schuettler's WC now. If not, I would say Bachinger is a candidate.

I read "je vais peut être reprendre la semaine prochaine". I first thought it was competition, but it's obviously just practicing... Nonetheless it's strange he has not pulled out yet...

I see Grosjean hasn't withdrawn yet either? He said after Monte-Carlo he probably won't play anymore until the French Open.

Q: Are you staying in France or going to the States?
SÉBASTIEN GROSJEAN: I have an MRI on Thursday because it has to be 48 hours after the injury. I might go back home on Friday or Saturday since I'm not playing next week.

He is playing in the Challenger in Spain starting on Monday, i hope he comes here and get some clay matches under his belt ahead of the French Open!!

I can already see two more likely withdrawals (LLs), Grosjean and Becker (who was injured in a challenger last week). I can see more coming too, a real sicko's tournament. :tape:

Yes, I don't get why Grosjean hasn't withdrawn, maybe the MRI for his leg wasn't that bad, but he kept saying in MC that he needs to rest a couple of weeks for his shoulder injury anyway (he said that in French too, so it was not just a wrong translation).

Also Haas retired in MC last week and Darcis suffered somekind of wrist injury in Valencia.

Safin goes straight into the main draw. I guess all the other last minute withdrawels will be covered by LLs. There could be quite a lot of them. :o

Haas should surely pull out with that shoulder injury, unless he's getting paid bucks for appearance fee. This draw looks pretty shit after all the withdrawals.
