I really can't believe or explain why JCF isn't here. He's not on the Munich list either. He must be very confident of going deep at all the other events.

He'll almost certainly apply for a WC if he loses early in Monte-Carlo.

Any ideas who might get the Wild-Cards??

I think it's a bit too early to tell  I'm sure if Ferrero lost early in Monte Carlo, and asked for a Wild Card here, he would get one with no problem, and I guess at least one up-and-coming, young Spansih (perhaps local to Barcelona?) player.............otherwise, just wait and see :)

Guga to miss Barcelona event

Three-time French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten has withdrawn from next week's ATP tournament in Barcelona.

The 31-year-old Florianopolis-born player, who has lost the three matches he has played this year, will not participate in Spain due to a left groin strain.

"It's a pity," he said through his press office. "I know playing in Barcelona would have been very special."

He added: "I really wanted to play in Spain to give back the love they feel for me, but I need to rest one week."

Kuerten was beaten 6-1 6-2 by Ivan Ljubicic on Monday in the Masters Series in Monte Carlo - for which he received a wildcard - but after the match was revealed to be suffering from an injury.

He explained: "I felt a pain in the leg one day before the match here, and then again after the match. I tried to train yesterday (Tuesday), but unsuccessfully.

"We decided to see what happened. The problem is because of the matches I played last week in Florianopolis.

"I will stop for a week to treat the injury and then go back to training to prepare myself for Roland Garros."

The French Open will be the last ATP tournament he will play in before retiring, having won the title in 1997, 2000 and 2001

Why WC for Ančić when last direct entry is Anderson(121)?

He didn't sign up for the tournament, so the only way he could get in is a wildcard.
