hi, i'm new to this site, so i'd just like to say hi. I started liking juan carlos when i first saw him play in the Australian Open against roger federer. My family don't like the tennis much, so i couldn't go watch the tennis, but i saw him on TV and i thought he was hot and since then i've been crazy over Juan Carlos, it's a shame they don't show Juan Carlos's Wimbledon matched in Australia very often

In Spain they either show any tennis match! only tv speak about football!!!
do you know any internet site where you can see tennis match???
sorry, my English is bad!!! :p

Ferrero Forever
06-26-2004, 07:30 AM
sorry, i've been looking for sites with tennis matches too, can't find nothing except for the webcams on www.wimbledon.org. Can't believe that JC got knocked out of wimbledon by Robby Ginepri!!!! Does anyone know what tournaments JC is competing in, and the websites for the tournaments? And I can't stand football. In australia all thats ever on TV is Aussie Rules, and it really pisses me off, and when theres no aussie rules they always put on soccer or cricket

Jazzy
06-26-2004, 09:53 AM
hey :wavey: - another aussie! i no how you feel JL - they never show Juanqui on tele!!

Hi there! Always glad to meet a fellow Juanqui fan :D.

Alisa
06-26-2004, 03:45 PM
there is a website www.atptennis.com where u can find shedule of play and infos about all tournaments including their official web-sites. and matches i guees u can only buy from some tennis fans...

and on football topic, guys they always keep showing euro 2004!! they show the same matches many times!!! and no wimbledon! :awww: i'm gonna check programm for next week but i suppose there will be no tennis either cause football final is also coming... :ras:

06-27-2004, 06:52 AM
thanks for the link alisa, i don't have cable tv at home, but i'm guessing that they don't show much tennis on that either. I don't think that they show much euro 2004 on tv in Australia, here the tennis is on from 11:00 at night till 4:00 in the morning, i've stayed up every day and there hasn't been 1 of juanqui's matches on TV. But i've seen venus williams lose to sprem 3 times and i've lost count of how many times i've seen hewitt, phillipoussis and roddick on TV, it's just not fair

Alisa
06-27-2004, 12:20 PM
you'r welcome! :)
Juanqui Lover, at least u see some matches! here they din't show tennis at all... but today i found out that they will show last week of Wimby at night!!!!)) :bounce: thiugh i was rather confused that it would be from 1:00 till 2:30 in the morn... an hour and a half??!! they would show it briefly or what?.. :cuckoo:

Ferrero Forever
06-28-2004, 10:56 AM
yeah, they'll probably only show highlights of the matches, just incase you didn't know, ferrero lost to robby ginepri in the 3rd round, so if ur just watching wimby to see ferrero, you probably won't see much of him. When roland garros was on, they only brought half an hour at night of it, which was a shame

Ferrero Forever
06-28-2004, 01:03 PM
does anybody know who will be competing in the olympics? i know JC will be, and lleyton hewitt won't but i don't know about the others. And does anybody know what surface the matches will be held on, i hope for JC's sake it's clay.

jcluvva
06-28-2004, 07:54 PM
The Olympics will be played on hard courts I think but JC is good on hard courts.

Jazzy
06-29-2004, 04:33 AM
i no, how annoying is that - no JC on tele  :bigcry:

Ferrero Forever
06-29-2004, 07:01 AM
thank god the olympics are on hard court. Too bad it's not clay though, but at least it's not on grass. Well he got to the final 16 in the Aus open, so he should do well, he better do well, because i'm sick of hearing about him losing in the opening rounds of play

Lynne
06-29-2004, 08:57 AM
I haven't actually been able to watch a complete match of Juanqui this year..Probably only the sf vs Federer at AO.. And the sports channels only show highlights of Juanqui's matches and which I have to wait for a long long time....

Ferrero Forever
06-29-2004, 09:40 AM
neither have i, i havent seen any of his matches since the aussie open, when the davis cup was on i saw about 3 seconds of his match because i was in a chinese take away and they had the tv on, and just as soon as his match started the food was ready and i had to go, so that was a shame

06-30-2004, 05:25 AM
how do you guys think JC is going to go at Gstaad and Toronto, i'm not sure but i've got a feeling he might do well at Gstaad, i'm hoping his game is returning to normal

Lynne
06-30-2004, 09:20 AM
Well.. I hope he will do well.... 2003 was amazing for him and if he starts to play well right from Gstaad, it'd be great.... No injuries.. just 100% fit!! :)

Lalitha
06-30-2004, 10:07 AM
Even if he withdraws from Gstaad or loses in the opening round, I don't think I will be surprised. I'm getting used to this nowadays. But anyways, I will support him and wait for him to bounce back.

Ferrero Forever
06-30-2004, 11:33 AM
yeah, 2003 was a good year for him, but i seem to think he'll be alright if he plays unseeded players, because in wimbledon he thrashed bouttler, but he had a lot of difficulty playing koubec, even though he won, and robby ginepri slaughtered him, so i think how well he does depends on his draw, i think this year will continue to be a bad year for him, but he will kick ass in 2005, but until then i too will just continue to support him

Alisa
07-01-2004, 05:42 AM
why wouldn't lleyton be playing in olympics??
i agree with u that he can show himself better in 2005 and now i doubt that he can win any tourn maybe just come to the QF... and i think he shouldn't be worried about it because he should have a rest this year and then with new strenth win all GS))
Juanqui Lover, i like your avatar)

Ferrero Forever
07-01-2004, 06:04 AM
thanks alisa, i like your avatar too, i've got so many better pics of him, but i can't put them as my avatar, dunno why though. I think lleyton isn't playing in the olympics because he's focusing on the grand slams, and with the olympics being so close to the US O he wants to have time to rest in between. I'm not complaining though, it gives JC a better chance to get further in the tournament. Andre Agassi isn't playing either, because of an injury, but i think all the others are playing.

Jazzy
07-01-2004, 09:38 AM
but juanqui thought it was his last real chance to win olympic gold coz he would be 28 in the next olympics - leaving him with a slimmer chance acording to age!

Ferrero Forever
07-01-2004, 11:14 AM
well i really don't think he's gonna perform very well at the olympics, but he'll still be an awesome player when he's 28, he's not going to go away anytime soon but i'm still hoping he does well at athens

Alisa
07-01-2004, 06:45 PM
why r they all keep saying that 28-30 is AGE with big letters??!! it's still so young!!! very strange stereotips... and... i do also think that he has not much chances to win gold especially with roddick and federer on his way! so maybe 28 would be better... he! imagine JC in 28?)) lol but he'll be even more experienced.
JuanguiLover, and about avatar i think it's because of the size! the size should be not more that 10kb!!!! and it's unimaginable small.... (

Hi,
I'm new here
i watched juan carlos for the first time at the french open last year
i think he's great
it's a pity he lost so early this year
i'm sorry for my terrible english but i', german

Ferrero Forever
07-02-2004, 03:18 AM
hi corinna. It's great to have another JC fan. JC will still look as hot as he does now, mabye even hotter, and he'll still be as talented. i mean have a look at tim henman, if i'm not mistaken he's 29 and he's still a very good player, and then theres andre agassi, i have no idea how old he is, but he's old for a tennis player. I don't think he'll have any problems if he has to play off against roddick, personally i think JC is better then roddick, but federer will cause problems for ferrero. I just hope ferrero gets a good draw. And does anybody know when the draw for Gstaad will appear on the website or what the draw is?

I enjoy watching Juan's and Agassi's match more than Roddick's!!! That man always serves fast, breaks the new record,I am sick of these big servers!!! I enjoy seeing more forehand, backhand, etc in each game. :p That's why I like to watch Juan and Agassi playing tennis and specially love clay tournaments!!! Whatever Juan can reach the top again or not,I still support and love this man!!! :rocker: :inlove:

Ferrero Forever

When Juan is playing at his best, he kills big servers. Most of the players get by because of their serve, but Juan has good style and an good overall gameplay. But it's so depressing watching him playing poor tennis.

I♥PsY@Mus!c
07-02-2004, 09:38 AM
Um...I agree with you partly!!! :rocker: He beat Gonzalez but can't beat Roddick And Dent last year!!!I know that that man won US Open just because the terrible schedule!!! :timebomb: But Juan :hearts: :inlove: :couple: seems hardly to kill big servers especially in hard surface!!! You know, when I saw Juan played very well against my fav Agassi,I started noticing this man. :bounce: Honestly,I found boring when I saw Juan played against Tim Henman in French Open last year!!!He seemed no passion!!! What kind of my blind eyes??? :topic: Back to the topic,it's very very heartbroken when he lost the match in the US Open final!!! :crying2:

I wonder why you support Juan at that match but not in pervious time,is it similar to my story? And I haven't seen that match and it's afraid to watch, much more heartbroken compared with US Open Final!!! :bigcry:

Ferrero Forever
07-02-2004, 10:57 AM
i only started liking ferrero after i saw his match against federer in the Australian Open this year. Ever since then i have supported him, regardless of whether he wins or loses. I didn't see the US open last year, and even if i did i wouldn't have taken notice of ferrero, so i wouldn't have supported him then. In australia they don't show much tennis, so I haven't had the oppurtunity to see many of JC's matches, but i still know he is a very talented player

I♥PsY@Mus!c
07-02-2004, 11:25 AM
So do I!!! :o I hardly get any chance to see Juan's matches, unless you pay fee to purchase "cable" which including Stars Sports,Cable Sports,ESPN!!! :bounce: Damn hate both the "fee" and "free" TV channels, and my parents coz they don't wnat to buy!!! :timebomb: :smash: :fiery:
Anyway, thank you Juanqui Lover to share your experience!!! :wavey: Juan deserves to have many fans in the world!!! :inlove: :hearts:

Actually Juan has struggled against all big servers for some time now. He lost Roddick, and then to Dent in Bangkok finals and to Chris Guccione in Sydney this year.

Alisa
07-02-2004, 11:49 AM
in my opinion FOR NOW jc can't beat roddick. if he changes smth or if andy playes not that good than yes, but not now. roddick plays very good. i know lots of here don't like him because of mass-media always keep talking about him, but he is very good on court! i think he is very strong player. maybe for smb it's not that interesting to watch good serves but nevertheless interesting it is or not it's very hard to beat him (so i think it would be interesting to watch federer-roddick final).
And about the age... guys, still it's very strange that 28 is old even in sport. maybe it's because young players have more interest to achieve everything...

Corinna hi!! :wavey:

Crazy_Fool
07-02-2004, 11:54 AM
Yeh, I think Ferrero has some problems with big servers. Sometimes the problem is that he stands too far behind the baseline which isn't the best thing to do v big servers.

Anyway he does have problems with Roddick(so do most players mind you), but he can definately beat him. On clay, it would be a non-contest

Jazzy
07-02-2004, 12:04 PM
so true there Crazy_Fool, Juanqui does stay too far back behind the baseline against Roddick, and if he does get a return it's often weak or too short - which does put pressure on his serve! now clay, that's a different story!

Ferrero Forever
07-02-2004, 12:32 PM
ok, i take back all the stuff I said about Roddick. I don't like him at all which is probably the reason why i think juan is sooooooo much better. But i do know that juans game is very different (and better) on clay. As he said "it's funny to play on grass!"

Ferrero Forever
07-02-2004, 12:55 PM
i know this isn't about JC, but are there any players that people particulary like or hate? i like ancic, romirez-hidalgo, agassi, federer and coria. I hate lleyton and mark (sorry fellow aussies) henman and roddick. And with the Gstaad tournament, on the website it says it starts from the 3rd of july, but i've heard people say the 5th. I think it would have to be the 5th because the 3rd collides with wimby, does anybody know which date is right?

Corinna
07-02-2004, 01:28 PM
I think it starts from the 5th of july
i've senn that in an article
i look forward to it, but it probably can't be seen on
german television
you can only watch the matches of the german player or players like federer or agassi there :(
i don't mind them but i prefere wacthing juan carlos
can his matches be seen in other countries?
or also only the national players?

Ferrero Forever
07-02-2004, 01:40 PM
in australia they show all of mark philopoussis and hewitts matches, but they don't show many other peoples matches. All thats aired on australian tv is SOME grand slams. The australian open is on pretty much all day and night, they only show an hour of the french a day, wimby starts at 11:00 at night and finishes at 4:00 in the morning and i'm not too sure about the US but i think it's early in the morning

Lynne
07-02-2004, 03:07 PM
Juanqui's had some problems with big servers.....And yeah, he does stay too far out from the baseline.... He's had some good matches with Lleyton like in TMC Shanghai and Davis cup earlier this year, the matches were stretched up to 5 sets....

Corinna
07-02-2004, 05:53 PM
in germany the australian open are at night from 12:00 till 4:00
in the morning. the french are showed from 11:00 in the morning till 7:00 in the evening like wimbledon. the US are only showed a few hours in the afternoon.
last year juan won against martin verkerk from the netherlands in the final
of the french open. isn't verkerk a big server, too?

JuanChuffy007
07-02-2004, 09:07 PM
isn't verkerk a big server, too?

Yep he is! But well, his serve isn't always that great all the time IMO. Like at the RG final... very bad! (as far as I remember)
btw shame on me that I wasn't Juanqui's fan yet then, coz that was a great year man!

You hate Lleyton  , he's my favourite!! There are many players I like such as Guga, Safin, Moya, Robredo and many more but my main 2 are Lleyton and JC. Very different players I know, but I admire them for different reasons.

Players I dislike include Federer, Roddick and Nalbandian. Coria is another one I'm not too keen on.

Coria's AWESOME!!! why don't you like him?

Ferrero Forever
07-03-2004, 06:51 AM
I dont' really like Safin as a player, but his interviews, especially the one from wimbledon this year and watching him get angry during a match keep me amused, so for that i think he isn't too bad. Does anybody here actually like Roddick? there are quite a lot of good players, but JC beats them all

Sometimes the confrontation of 2 players enhance the style of the champions who normaly win rather confortably, without too much struggle.
It happened this year un Wimbledon ( Mario with Roddick to-day and Federer with Hewitt 2 days ago).

Alisa
07-03-2004, 08:15 PM
I like roddick! he's a very talented player! well actually i like almost all players in prof tennis cause they show cool game! and let's stop arguing here! ppl have different tastes and it's normal...
speaking about Gstaad. as far as i understood 3 july - is the beginning of qualification and 5th of prof.

Ferrero Forever
07-04-2004, 03:55 AM
yes i agree, no more talk about other players. Thanks alisa for clearing up the gstaad dates, and JC will be playing Stefan Koubek in the first round. I hope he finishes him off quickly this time, not like wimbledon where he dragged the match out to 5 sets.

Ferrero Forever
07-04-2004, 04:05 AM
how do you guys think JC is gonna go against Koubek in Gstaad? I first thought he'll drag it out to 5 sets like wimbledon, but then i remembered GSTAAD IS ON CLAY. Does anybody know anything about Koubek, is he any good on clay? because we all know JC rules on clay, but im just hoping Koubek is really bad on clay, because I wanna see a possible second round matchup against Ramirez-Hidalgo

Jazzy
07-04-2004, 07:58 AM

Alisa
07-04-2004, 10:14 AM
yea, it's interesting to see them again so soon)) don't know if koubek is good on clay or not but definately JC on clay is better ;) :yeah: hope he had a good rest during all this time and we'll watch him playing HIS tennis :bounce:

Ferrero Forever
07-04-2004, 11:22 AM
thats good, i'm hoping JC is back in form, but i seriously doubt it. I hate not having faith in JC. But he's had a weeks break training on clay so i think he should do very well in this tournament. And he's in a different half of the draw to Roger Federer, so could we be expecting a Federer-Ferrero final?

JuanChuffy007
07-04-2004, 12:50 PM
Hmmm I'd say: That Koubek guy is very unlucky to face JC in the first round :D.

No, OK, actually, I have no idea whether Koubek is good on clay or not. But I do know JC is very good on clay! I hope JC wil finally win a tournament again! Go Juanqui!

They have played four times with Ferrero taking a 3-1 lead. 1-0 Ferrero on grass, 1-1 on hard and 1-0 Ferrero on clay. Ferrero easily won on clay anyway straight sets in the 2001 French Open 6-2 6-2 6-3. Koubek has had a poor year though with a 6-13 win-loss.

Coria's AWESOME!!! why don't you like him?
Coria is not bad compared to the other 3, its just I don't like the way his disrespects others at times, like with his line calling etc. But he isn't that bad, and I was quite upset when he lost the RG final, in the way he did.

Ferrero Forever
07-05-2004, 04:19 AM
well at least ferrero has a good record against koubek on play. I had a look at the order of play, and he isn't playing today, so thats another days rest for him which i think would work in ferreros favour. You are so lucky to see a video of ferrero. Did any aussies watch wimbledon late at night the past week? they brought ferrero catching a ball, he kicked it, then caught it at the back of his neck and then he rolled it out to his arm. The first time i wasn't sure if it was him, but they brought it another time and it was. He's soooooooo talented.

Crazy_Fool
07-06-2004, 10:28 AM
I just want him to play in a tournament healthy, it has been a long time. Yes he should be able to beat Federer on clay if he's at the top of his game, but i doubt he will be in the tournament.

Anyway go JC :worship:

Kat!
07-06-2004, 12:59 PM
The Mercedes Cup surface is clay.... and JC got a wildcard *I guess* is because he didn't enter the tournament in time? because the number 3 seed is Schuettler, and JC's ranking is higher him.

does anyone know why JC is a wildcard for the mercedes tournament. i know he's playing bad tennis, but it's really not that bad is it? and i think mercedes is on clay, but can anyone confirm that.
When you are the best player in the world on clay and lose to likes of Koubek then your tennis can't be good. I believe in him so much though, and it will only be a matter of time before he comes out of this slump as he is too talented to do otherwise. I hope this does not demoralise him, although it is clear he is low on confidence right now.

I think he should rest for a while. Just a week or two no tennis!

"I'm not playing my best tennis," said the 24-year-old. "I cannot find my game, I'm sadly lacking confidence."

Poor guy

hi, i'm new to this site, so i'd just like to say hi.

I really wanted to watch the Aus Open, not only do i like Roddick my mum and brother do too. Well the only problem was that i live in Sydney and it would cost too much to take a plane/bus and but AUSO tickets aswell.

I'm hoping he can kick some ass before that, but certainly i think next year will be big for him. Another slam, or maybe 2!

And maybe the end-of-year championships (he was soooo close to it in 2002)

Corinna

the good thing about JC is he can play good on ALL surfaces (especially clay) he got to the semifinal at the AO, and the final at USO last year, so he can play well on hard as well. I think he might take out the AO next year and show what a good year he's going to have

ok, this is going to make me sound like an idiot, especially because it is in my username, but how did people start calling him Juanqui? and i'd also like to know why people call him the Mosquito. And does chavalito mean little boy in english and does vamos mean something to the effect of come on? the only reason i have Juanqui in my username is because i think it has a nice ring to it?

plum_juice10
07-11-2004, 11:54 AM
mosquito is because he runs round the court like a "bug" - mosquito, and you can never get the ball past him because he is so fast that he can get to the ball...also, apparently because he has thin legs, theyre like a mosquito's! But I think theyre lovely!

U mite hav to ask someone else bout Juanqui, probably a family nick-name or somethin??

Oh well, I hope it helps and if Im wrong, someone can correct me, Im pretty sure its rite though.

Is 'vamos' an Argentinian or Spanish word?

Sharon
07-11-2004, 09:33 PM
i think vamos works as both spanish and argentinean. most spanish speaking players say it often in a match.
and Juanqui, i read it somewhere but im not sure anymore, but i think crazy_fool said... his close friends call him that (well they either call him that or just Juan)

Corinna

coria often uses it, too.

RogiFan88
07-12-2004, 02:10 AM
Si, si, si "VAMOS!" is a Spanish word. Spanish is the official language of Argentina [and most South American countries, exc Guyana, French Guiana and Surinam, and Brasil].

It just means "[LET'S] GO!" from the verb "IR" which means "to go".

It means the same in Spain and in Argentina and other Spanish-speaking countries.

RogiFan88
07-12-2004, 02:14 AM
Juanqui is simply a short form or diminutive of Juan Carlos, like Tommy is for Thomas or Rafa is for Rafael. He can also be called Juanca or Juancar. Or like Juanjo for Juan Jose. Like Guille for Guillermo.

Chavalito is "little kid". Chaval = kid.

In the June issue of "ACE" tennis mag there was a 'Sex List' of both male and female players and surprisingly there no mention of Juan Carlos! But…reading the August issue (out now btw!!) one woman said:

“having just perused the Ace Sex List 2004 (June) I am appaled by the absence of Juan Carlos Ferrero! [rightly so!!] While I understand that Ivo Karlovic may only appeal to those (like myself) with slightly esoteric [obscure to you and me :p] taste and that Goran Ivanesevic’s ranking precludes his inclusion, surely Spain’s top player is appreciated by most women? [again that’s you and me :D] In fact, of all the top 100 players he is only three (the others being Philippoussis and Safin) on whose attractiveness my fellow Wimbledon attendees and I are unanimous. We would therefore like to call into question the credentials of the so-called panel of experts and offer our services (five women, all aged between 20-23) for next year.”

I think that was really funny personally, but she is quite right…he is a great looking guy and a great tennis player and he should have featured in the top ten.

Tell me wot u guys think :p

3. Andre Agassi - "He's the man. It's the confidence, the charisma. He's got it." : John Lloyd

4. Marat Safin - "He's the kind of guy if a tree fell on your car he would be able to lift it off. Very masculine" : Lowri Turner

5. Arnuad Clement - "Handsome. He doesn't have an athletic build but there's something about French men and women. They have style." : Jo Hansford

6. Jan-Michael Gambill - "He's got the all-American look, the surfer look" : John Lloyd

7. Agustin Calleri - "Part Antonio Banderas and a little bit George Clooney around the mouth" : Anna Pursglove

8. Fernando Gonzalez - "Other than a sexy name, he's a great mix between manly and boyish. Something for everyone." : Anna Pursglove

9. Nicolas Lapentti - "Radiates a gentle nature within which lurks an inner strength" : Bharti Vyas

10. Andy Roddick - "Boy Band cute. He doesn't look like he should be a tennis player" : Jo Hansford

It should be in the section you had mentioned, unless otherwise moderators had decided not to do it for every match.

But otherwise, there is PAW (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=13168) , where you can choose the winners. (It has a deadline though). Most of the posters in the PAW have gone against Ferrero, so I advise you not to look into it right now.

I was just on the Roddick forum and there was an interesting site that was mentioned in one of the threads...amiannoying.com and I searched for JC expecting that he would not be considered as annoying but I was surprised to find that 52.68% people find him annoying!!! So everyone vote for him NOT to be annoying and that should make all us feel better :p and he is on a few other ones aswell but I dont see why?? but to end on a high note...he was number 92 in the "least annoying" top 100 and he was the only sportsman to be in that list! How cool is that?! so that is worth being happy about...rite???????

But dont u get alot of mosquitos in AUS neway because of the hot weather so they would be annoyin as their bites can really hurt?? So in a way his name isnt "annoyin" as such...just that he is soo 'dangerous' on court he can hurt the opponant (?)

I saw JC too on TV...it was cool! Luckily I didnt hav to stay up (because of the time diff. only 2 hours behind and it's a gd thing we are behind otherwise I wouldnt hav stayed up and then I wouldnt hav seen him!) Gd luck in Athens!!

Sharon

yes that was a very boring ceremony but i didnt have to stay up cuz well they just put ours on "tape delay" so we can see it "primetime" for more viewers:rolleyes:
for spains, they closed in on some random people and i saw ferrero walking in the background and moya takin pics and then they zoomed in a 2nd time on Moya, RObredo and Ferrero for a long time and JC did looked cute in red and if he wore that hat, i'd think he'd probably looked ridiculous :p

And JC didn't seem too excited :awww: .....Feli looked much more impressed (not to mention Rogi Fed whose excitement cannot be described in words). Maybe he was excited but didn't show it...

He played GREAT until when he had to serve out for the match at 5-4 in the second set. Then Fish 'stepped up', rose his game and JC couldn't do much bout it. A shame really

they were saying the chinese guy is about to win gold medaland then the chinese guy couldnt find the bar on the high bar and got a 8.9 :(
then this romanian guy made a huge mistake on the parrallel bars
