and I'll call Sunrise if we don't see anything in the news or the web site by this afternoon. I should have Sunrise on my cell speed dial since I called them about every 1/2 hour last year. :o :rolls:

NicoFan
03-17-2008, 11:39 AM
Well I just found this on the Sunrise site....doesn't look like he'll get in.

http://www.sunrisetennis.com/home/pdf/2008/acceptance_list/2008_Player_acceptance_list.pdf

Wow...he's screwed big time points wise since he can't get in. :bigcry:

I don't know why he didn't sign up for Sunrise in the first place...he could have gotten in via the qualifying.  If he was still winning in IW, he wouldn't have gotten fined or anything for not going to Sunrise.

I'm still going to keep Sunrise in the thread title until the Main Draw comes out...hoping for a miracle here.

Alx
03-17-2008, 12:58 PM
I don't see where is the problem, he's on the alternate list so he signed up.
And Becker is the 1st seed in qualies whereas he was behind Nico on the alternate list, that means that maybe Nico is in the main draw. On one of the article that FFGC posted, it's written that Nico don't already know if he'll play Sunrise or not

NicoFan
03-17-2008, 01:46 PM
Maybe I'm reading it wrong. They have the players on the main draw list, but he's not on that - he is on the alternate list (which he had to have signed up for recently because he wasn't on the original entry list as an alternate), but he's not in the qualifing draw so he'd have to get into the main draw but I don't know if enough guys will drop out. I'm confusing myself so I'm probably confusing everyone else too. :rolls:

I'm going to call Sunrise around 11:00 my time - they should be in the office by then - and I'll see what they say.

Alx
03-17-2008, 02:49 PM
the entry list is from february the 25th I think, so I think there were a lot of withdrawals since that time and now Nico is in the main draw since he's not in the qualifing draw (that's what I understood). But we have to wait if he really plays or if he withdraws (I hope not, he needs points to get in the main draw in Roland Garros)

yes that's the best way to have news :yeah:

NicoFan
03-17-2008, 02:58 PM
A lot of guys have dropped out. So keeping fingers crossed here.

That's why I'm so desperate for him to play - he needs the points to get into RG. I will enjoy RG without Nico and of course it's my dream to go to Paris, but I would love love love to see my favorite tennis player of all time on the clay of RG. It will be really sad to go all the way to Paris and not see him there. So I'm getting a bit anxious here. :scared:

Okay off to call Sunrise! Hoping it will be good news.

NicoFan
03-17-2008, 03:02 PM
No answer at Sunrise...I'll try later on.

NicoFan
03-17-2008, 03:26 PM
BTW - does anyone know where Kid is today? She's not on here and she didn't reply to an email I sent her this morning. Maybe it's a holiday in Mexico?

Alx

I don't know
It's Patrick's day but I don't think it's an holiday in Mexico :rolls:

I remember and it was a lot of fun-But maybe they remember too and that's why they're not going to let him in this year  :haha:

Fingers crossed he makes it in.

Sparko1030
03-17-2008, 05:33 PM
No clue where Kid is-I hope all is ok with her. I suspect she'll be on in a little bit and laugh at us for worrying-again :rolls:

NicoFan
03-17-2008, 05:35 PM
No, St. Patrick's Day probably isn't a holiday in Mexico. :haha:

And she will laugh at us for worrying.

 I hope the Sunrise people don't remember us calling every half an hour...they definitely won't let Nico in if they remember. :rolls:

NicoFan

Sunrise must have remembered all the phone calls because they aren't answering their phone.

YEAY!!! NICO is playing at Sunrise! Ditto Paul and Fernando G!!!

Good grief, I hope Nico doesn't draw Fernando...I'll be sooo pissed at Fernando if he screws Nico out of his points when he doesn't need any points.

From the tournament director...

"Nicolas Massu is playing and is main draw Also playing from Chile is Paul Capdeville and Fernando Gonzalez.

Fernando Gonzalez got a wild card yesterday evening."

Alx
03-17-2008, 08:08 PM

03-17-2008, 11:18 PM
:woohoo: excellent news!!! Thanks Nicofan :)

I'm glad Fernando made it in too but hopefully they will be in opposite sides of the draw-there is always something to worry about

So we know where Kid is now-hope she is having a rockin' good time :rocker:

Sunrise has a lot of higher level players for a challenger :awww: Some tough matches past the 1st round for NIco but he has been playing fairly decent and he's beat Carols and Janko in the last few weeks so he can certainly win these matches too

VAMOOOOOOOS NICO!!!

NicoFan
03-18-2008, 04:26 PM
Kei has been hot, but Sparko is right - Nico beat Carlos and Janko and came close to beating Tommy so he can beat Kei too!!! :yeah:

And FYI - no Nico on the OOP today (or Paul or Fernando).

03-18-2008, 05:06 PM
wtf is Gonzalez doing there?!?! he should be resting as usual, damn it! I'd have been even more pissed off if he'd have been on Nico's part of the draw :o ... whatever :ras:

so the nightmare of the draw continues even on a "challenger" :rolls: ... hopefully Nico could beat this guy, it won't be easy but we're used to that :p

oh and actually I don't laugh when you get worried about me, I just laugh that you never remember what I tell you in the past

Yeah, the more I think about it, the odder it seems that Fernando is playing Sunrise. All I can think is he didn't expect to be out of IW so early  and he needs court time. Again, I'm getting old, but it almost seems like Nalbandian or some other higher ranked player was entered last year

VAMOS NICO! YOU CAN DO IT! :fiery:

Sparko - I think it was Monfils that was higher ranked last year. It is really odd that Fernando is there....but obviously up to him.

Alx - Miami really isn't the U.S. It's the most northern South American country. :rolls: Chileans and Argentines rank higher than a non-Miami American in Miami. When you go to the MS in Miami, you hear Spanish almost as much as English. And the players from SA and Spain are treated the best of all the players. :yeah:

kidnicky
03-19-2008, 03:27 AM
and could somebody please tell me which is the freaking time difference with Sunrise?? :rolls: with this thing of the US already in the saving summer time and not me yet I don't even remember where Sunrise was until I read NicoFan's post

Kid it's US ET...

so right now:
Chile 0:35 am
US ET 11:35 pm
Mexico 10:35 pm

kidnicky
03-19-2008, 04:11 AM
I knew you'd be the one Felipe  oh and I never got that thing of ET or whatever US time :rolls: ... if I'm seeing correctly that also means that you already changed times Felipe?

ChinoRios4Ever
03-19-2008, 04:16 AM
Chile changes time this year on march 29, our "sweet" president Bachelet did it cause we have many energy problems this year  so we need to save energy as much as we can

in Chile if no rain no energy... :rolls:

that day Chile and the US ET will have the same hour...

kidnicky
03-19-2008, 04:22 AM
oh don't worry, I'm still pissed off since we got that idea of changing times too  but actually then that means that we still have the 3 hours difference so right now here it's 10.22 pm and in Chile it's 1.22 am ... am I right this time?

ChinoRios4Ever
03-19-2008, 04:31 AM
Mexico did not change the hour yet?

well anyway... i only know right now about Mexico that all the people wants Hugol out of the national team cause they failed to reach the Olympics

the ESPN mexican guys want to kill him, that's so funny  :armed:

kidnicky
03-19-2008, 04:49 AM
no we still haven't changed times, until the first weekend of april :p

I was thinking about you after this weekend and the great Hugol :retard: ... I'd only say "I told you" remember?

if you ever see Jose Ramon Fernandez, that guy used to work for a mexican tv channel for edges! a true legend here in Mexico, and he left the network 'cause they wanted to be in "peace" with Hugol and this guy has always hate him, so of course that now that he is on ESPN he'll be more than happy to speak his mind about this stupid coach that we have :rolls:

ChinoRios4Ever
03-19-2008, 04:56 AM
it wasnt Jose Ramon Fernandez, i cant watch ESPN2 programs, but yesterday in Sportscenter and in Fuera de Juego... :rolls: i saw Ciro Procuna, Rafa Puente and especially David Faitelson, they want to kill Hugol, especially Faitelson he said he has to resign for this shame :o

in ESPNdeportes.com he said: HUGO, VETE YA!!!!!! :fiery:

kidnicky
03-19-2008, 05:01 AM
Jose Ramon Fernandez is never on ESPN2 is always on ESPN inter also  ... and Rafa Puente, Ciro Procuna and David Faitelson worked with him, so that's why now they're more than happy to be able to say all those things :rolls:

Hugo is a joke, he is still asking to stay until the next WC :retard: but anyway, this is the Sunrise and Miami thread

ChinoRios4Ever
03-19-2008, 05:06 AM

Nico lost 6-4, 6-4.

He's out of the top 110 now.

And probably now out of RG if he doesn't do well at Miami...which will be hard to do.

:bigcry:

Kid, start thinking of someone else to root for in Paris.

Alx
03-19-2008, 10:07 PM
at least he tried :yeah:
now let's hope that he could win a few matches at Miami

NicoFan
03-19-2008, 10:12 PM
I just looked at the rankings...he's basically got to make it to the QFs at Miami in order to get into the direct entry at RG.

I'm so sad...I've dreamed of going to RG for years. I would have loved to see Nico on the clay there, but that's over now. I've never seen him play on clay. At this point, I highly doubt that I'll ever see him play on clay.

I don't know what he's going to do. He'll be out of Wimbly too. He's going to have to play more challengers to get his ranking up so he can get into the U.S. Open. He's in Bermuda and Napoli. Hopefully he can get good draws there and go far.

I'm sure he'll pass the qualy in Miami and yes there's still the qualy round in RG but I'm sure that he won't need that :p

LOVELY
03-19-2008, 11:02 PM
I think the cut off for RG is 96 then you add the WC ...So if Nico is 110 or more he will have to play the quallies . Unless there will be lots of withdrawal...
But I believe in Nico 100% and if he has to play the quallies , no doubt he will qualify :)

Kid is the one who has luck, and I have none.

So we'll see whose karma (for the good or bad) is stronger for RG.

And I try not to be pessimistic but it all has to do about where I live...US Northeasterners as a rule are gloomy and doomy. :rolls: That's why all the scary and horror novels are written by those of us in the NE. It is in the genes so there is nothing I can do about it.

ChinoRios4Ever

 expected loss

well Nico downhill continues... RG Entry List will be posted in about 1 month... he's still with chances to get a direct entry...

the MD cut is #104 + 16 qualys and 8 WC

NicoFan
03-20-2008, 01:03 AM
Oh that's better news - I thought like Lovely that it was 90 something for the MD cut #. The problem is that even though 4 weeks sounds like a long time, that's this week, the week in Miami, the week in Napoli, and then DC (no points). So if he's going to make the MD cut off, he's got to get the points at Miami...that will be hard, and Napoli...hopefully he'll get a good draw there.

And thanks Deck. :) I hope so!

ChinoRios4Ever
03-20-2008, 01:07 AM

kidnicky
03-20-2008, 04:02 AM
it sucks since we're expecting at least some of luck for the draw in Sunrise since it's a challenger but we have seen that this is not a real challenger, the entry list was really strong and Nico played for more than 6 hours in just 2 matches ... I expect for good things for the qualy in Miami and Napoli, he always does well playing quallies so I don't see how he couldn't gain some good points there and also in Napoli :yeah:

That is some good news at least. I still have to admit, its depressing to think its come to this-worrying about the cut off for a Slam for him. I know he is much better than that. I think we really will have to get the money to send Kid to all his tournmanets. Its the only solution-he always gets some wins when she is there  ;)

and Sparko I don't know what else do I have to do so you can finally realize that I need to be with him in all the tournaments  ... actually he didn't have a bad week, it is just that after those 2 loooong matches and another crappy draw even in a challenger doesn't help anybody and besides, supossly he had a bad year the last one and still the few good points that he won are still screwing him, stupid rankings :ras:

I was so disappointed last week when I realized that his ranking is so low that he might not be in RG. But with this horrific performance today, I don't think he gives a shit whether he's in RG or not.

What excuse will he give this time. He's tired (again)? It rained, and he didn't like that? He just wasn't "feeling" it out on court today?

Amazing that he can't even beat a guy like Diego Hartfield...

If anyone can put a positive spin on this loss go right ahead. But this optimist has about had it. :awww: Love Nico, but if he can't get past the first round of a qualy, there isn't much hope to be had.

I lost my optimism over Nico long ago. I give you credit for lasting this long.

He's doing nothing to change his results. Same lack of confidence, same shitty coach, same shitty results. I'm sure that during that second set, it was the same 'ol same 'ol complaints, wanting to quit, etc. etc.

Everytime in the past when he has a bad loss like this, I would think...ah ha! This will be a wake up call, and he'll finally make some changes.

But it never happened.

So I've given up all hope for him. He's career is over. Time for him to think of coaching or some other career. As far as I can see, it's a waste of time, effort, and money for him to continue playing.

And no, I'm not being mean to him...after awhile, you just have to be honest. And it's because I do care about him. What kind of life is it for him to go around the world losing to guys with half his natural talent??? I want him to be happy. How can he be happy with these types of results?

If he decides to make changes and sacrifice, that's another story. But he hasn't done that for the two years that he's needed to...so I doubt he will miraculously now make the necessary changes.

Nico...

OMFG!!! new low and time for a change

this shit must be over NOW!

losing to Hartfield is really a new freaking low... TIME FOR A CHANGE OF COACH RIGHT NOW!!!!

For me the time for Pato-Nano is over, Nico need a change and NOW!, if not he's done... seriously...

I was supported Pato-Nano in the past, but their time is over, nothing new, Nico downfall continues without a fucking change...

Im sick of this shit  If Nico doesnt want to change is his option if he wants to be a stupid journeyman for the rest of his carrer, sadly but true.

It is a new low. Diego is cute, but that's about it. Nico is twice as talented.

Sad to see him sink so low, but this is all his doing because he refuses to change anything.

He needs a better coach. But no change there.

He's better on hardcourt than on clay. But no training on hardcourts (or a coach to work with him on it.

He needs to just go for it on court. But no, it's the same stuff over and over again in matches, where he's so defensive all the time, and absolutely no offense.

I feel so bad for him. But at the same time, it annoys me that he just refuses to change.
