I hate that it's 56. Bring back the 64 player MC.

Roddick isn't down for Houston, so maybe he turns up (has he ever turned up for MC?). The Yanks should be fined for not turning up, just as 'dirtballers' who can't be arsed with Wimbledon should be.

No, he won't play quallies. He will try to get a WC for MC and I think he will
get it.

It's unlikely he will get one for Rome and Hamburg though :(

These tournaments usually give WCs to their players  and in Rome he

It's not true for Monte-Carlo, they do give WC to foreign players, they already did with Tojo, JCF, Corretja... Or Kuerten, as you can see.

Coria needs to show first he can win matches at Challenger level before playing a Masters Series event.
If he was obviously deserving a WC, I'm pretty sure he would be considered too in Monte-Carlo.

I agree. Berdych's coach said he won't play Monte-Carlo, but they will say it oficially after the tests today. We could also consider Tsonga and Gasquet on the list of unsure players. In the DC Tsonga was suffering from a knee injury, I guess, and Gasquet played but they said he had some problems with blisters...

Just wondering how it gets decided who will play Monte Carlo MD and qualifiers next week?

On their website you have top 45 ranked players so for example you get 3 withdrawals, would the next 3 highest ranked players automatically fill the spots?

What about the qualifying draw? What dictates who will play in this draw too (rankings, form.....etc)?

Finally have the wildcard entrants been informed yet?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Look here: http://www.menstennisforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=839

There is one thread for the entry list, and one thread for the qualifying entry list. That will tell you who is playing where, and it will be updated up until the deadline on Friday.

One wildcard has been announced on the tournament website (Guga).

Action Jackson
04-16-2008, 06:14 AM
All players are on the list for the TMS events.

The rankings were taken as they are always 6 weeks before the start of the event and what the Entry Ranking says at that date is who will be on the Entry List.

The only thing is when a player who has a Protected Ranking which is good enough to get into the MD example like Malisse will for this event.

The qualie list, that is dependant on who signs in, by the due date. There are some players who could play qualies, but play a Challenger instead.

All the information is in the Monte Carlo tournament forum.

Thanks very much, i have had the rankings up from last year 15th April 2007 and was confused over certain things like why didnt Monaco enter and other things like the random qualifiers (surely every player would choose prestige and money of Masters, but i guess ranking points are what drives some guys etc.....)

Must be something more to it than that, surely? I mean, it isn't like he has played a lot of matches this year.

Hopefully he hasn't got mono or something related.

I wonder what's up with him...

He recently played all three rubbers in Davis Cup about a week ago so he has played a bit since last withdrawing from Miami. According to here, he played an exhibition event in Greece three days ago. http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=121283

why on earth did lleyton withdraw, he hasn't played monte carlo for about 100000000000000000000 years. He obivously thinks he's going to make the semis in Hamburg again

Didn't you hear about his hip injury? It was mentioned during Davis Cup and after his Miami match.

Yeah, i thought it was only a niggling injury and that's why he played davis cup (and the doubles) and would be right, i probably should of assumed that he would pull out because of it this week. Worried about his ranking after Hamburg.

Thanks for the article

He has to sort out his own mess first before he can start playing tennis again. He's coachless right now, among other things...

What is going on with Baghdatis and why isn't Tsonga playing?

Tsonga has no clay court masters series points to defend so I thought he would utilise this opportunity to play all the AMS matches he could to solidify and improve his ranking.

Tsonga is injured and will be out for a while. I don't know all the details, but I know there is a thread about in on GM.

Tsonga has knee problems, Baghdatis withdrew due to 'fatigue'

There was an interview lately in the french papers and he hopes to come back for Roland-Garros. Well, it's going to be tough for him. We'll see...

Glad to see Tommy Haas in the draw finally :)
