Considering it's a clay tournament with zero Spanish players, it's not that bad! :p

I want Volandri vs Davydenko! :haha:

Btw the WTA tournament looks good. Cut-off is Loit (#93). Pennetta will be here!

Bit upset M.Safin isnt playing 1 of these Clay Tournaments!!
He'll probaly try to get a Wild-Card into 1 of those Events (Valencia & Esotril)
Does any-1 know his plan for after Miami?? He hasnt put anything after Miami on his website.Except for the Masters Series.

Valencia is much stronger maybe haase should have gone here for his first clay tournament

cmorais24
03-05-2008, 02:01 PM
Not a single spanish player? How is this possible?

In the past we had four spanish in the semi-finals twice (1992, 1997) and 3 of 4 for four times (1990, 1994, 2001, 2005).

Just once there were no spanish in the "semis".

Of course, with Valencia in the same week, it's understandable! But not even one for sample?

wow, Estoril used to have a normal field. Seems this year they spent all money bringing Federer (and Davy) and didn't care about the rest.

Sure. If you don't believe he can have a top 80 career in singles and top 20 in doubles, you have no clue about tennis.

Unlike most of the players here, he will play a Daviscup QF the week before, so his chances are not that big indeed.

They should use the three WC for three top ten players if they want a good tournament...
Federer may be playing here because he's afraid of Novak and David and he wants to earn a lot of points for the rankings...
I'm surprised that the two times champion David Nalbandian is not playing here, maybe he wants to save energies for the clay TMS season

Federer is not afraid of anyone. He decided to play one more tournament this year on clay season and thought Estoril was the best option.

And I say "good choice!";)!

And the organization can't use the three wildcards for 3 top10 players...it's just too expensive.

May be Novak...may be not!

smart decision from Roger, this tournament gives good points and it's a nice preparation for clay session!

The second WC will probably go to Frederico Gil. He ist 14th on the alt list right now. That's most likely not enough to get a direct entry.

Considering the draw I will be shocked and appalled if it isn't a Federer Vs. Davydenko final and if Davydenko plays like he did in the final stages of Miami he may have a chance to win this title.

Davydenko switches the surfaces very hard, so it can be expected troubles for him.

Considering the draw I will be shocked and appalled if it isn't a Federer Vs. Davydenko final and if Davydenko plays like he did in the final stages of Miami he may have a chance to win this title.

If Denko manages to play that well again, I'd say he's a lock-in for the title here!
Don't expect that to happen though. As said already he usually has quite some trouble adjusting to a different surface.
