Good luck to Nico in VEGAS!!! :bounce:

It will be tough transitioning from clay to hardcourts, but hopefully he can get in a couple of matches.

Hope that he plays doubles too - that is still hardcourt time.

And if he has a tough week, having fun in Vegas will more than make up for it!

NicoFan

Ouch! That is a lot.

There are certain times of the year that Chile has the same time as me, but it seems like that hasn't happened for a long time.

All these time changes are confusing.

Thanks for all the info Nicofan! :wavey:

 Looking over the entry list, there is only one US player. Where are they all???

This week has been nice for me-Mexico is in the same time zone as me. That only happens with a
handful of tournaments

NicoFan
02-29-2008, 04:03 PM
Thanks for pointing that out Sparko.

Yeah, only Sam the Man is in the regular entry list, and Vinnay got in as an alternate.

I'm not surprised Andy isn't there. He already played San Jose and Memphis for the smaller American tournaments. But no Blake, Fish, etc. etc.

After all of the problems Blake caused there last year, you would think that he would come back and atone for his past sins. :rolls:

NicoFan

But I'd forgotten about Blake last year :haha: Perhaps he is just too embarrassed-or mad it didn't "stay in Vegas" :rolls: Still seems weird more of the lower ranked US players are missing. Nico isn't in the doubles draw. :(

I'm trying to be nice since he feels that everyone puts him down, so I'll leave it with I'm in shock.

Poto is playing...why didn't he team up with Poto again?

Maybe he should start to realize that these are the things that get Chile, the press, and his fans INSANE, make them criticize him, and wonder what in heavens name is he thinking. What a horrid horrid horrid decision.

Maybe they couldn't enter in the draw...

Because even though we all love Nico and want him to do better, one thing that we all pretty much agree on is that Nico's downfall has been his own fault. Poor decisions on almost everything.

He needs to get accustomed to hardcourts again. The only way to do that is to PLAY hardcourts. Since he'll be out in either the first or second round of the singles, it makes sense to play doubles.

Poto is playing...Poto left Acapulco the same time that Nico did. He was able to sign up for doubles and find a partner. Why couldn't Nico?

It would make sense to play doubles but sometimes you'd like to do something but you can't, due to external reasons...(maybe Nico didn't find a partner...so even if he would have loved to play doubles, being with no partner can be a bit difficult...)
As Kid told us , Nico and Roitman talked about doubles and now we can see that Roitman enters with Cañas..
We don't know if it's really Nico's decision to avoid doubles so that's why I think it's not fair to criticize him because we don't know what's happened...

Well, it is true we don't know the reason why Nico isn't playing doubles and it may not be his fault that he isn't. On the other hand it has happened so many times before that one would think its not just bad luck all the time.

kidnicky
03-03-2008, 05:21 AM
I think the real reason is the ranking, like I said and heard, Nico asked Roitman to play doubles together and I also kind of heard that Nico said that they could have a problem for his ranking and he asked to Roitman his double's ranking and I heard Nico saying that his double's ranking is around 202 and Roitman's it's on the top 100 and Potito has a better ranking than Roitman, so I really think that the problem again was his double's ranking, if other players choose him and then when the entry list is done they see that they can't play double's with Nico for his ranking that's why they have to choose somebody else, I also heard something about that and now everything makes sense, Nico said something about his ranking and then I heard "well if we can't enter to the double's draw we could withdraw" and the reason that until now I got is that it's his double's ranking, he entered to Acapulco since there wasn't too many high ranked double's players but maybe that wasn't the case for Las Vegas

Thanks for the explanaition Kid :). I hope Nico keeps trying for doubles and is able to get his rank up. Hopefully last week helped a bit :yeah:

And yeah, Im like you and Juilet, kid-always having to adjust time-really about the only time I don't is when he plays Acapulco even though there are tournments closer to me than that one, its the only one he plays that in my time zone :haha:
