For those who don't watch the TV schedule and miss things (like ME)

NBC's Wimbledon preview starts in about 3 minutes, and ESPN2's Wimbledon preview starts in 2 hours.

:)

I thought it was a pretty nice preview, nice features on Roger, Andy and the Williamses.

Though they continue their obsession with Sharapova

I wonder what ESPN2 will do.

How much coverage do you get a day in american?

And this is something I've been noticing, and I wish that Russian speakers would help me out with it:

The announcers are always pronouncing the first syllable of Sharapova's name as SHARE

I thought it didn't have a long "a" sound in english but rather a short "a" sound as the "a" in father.
Also what syllable is accented. The announcers are accenting the first syllable and I thought it was the second syllable.

It's pretty good. An hour of something called "wake up to Wimbledon" at 7am, then coverage from 8am-noon live then it switches network and goes to about 5pm live then a bunch of highlights shows late at night.

But even though they are promising a lot of hours, it may turn out to be like Roland Garros where they played the same matches over and over.

I think play seldom goes beyond 9 p.m. at Wimbledon. The light is dim by that time. ESPN is broadcasting until 5 p.m. eastern time, so they look like they are going to not be showing all live coverage.

I can deal with an hour of taped coverage at the end of the broadcast if most of the rest of it is live.

The good news is that coverage starts at 8am which is 1pm London time which is when play starts tomorrow. So they should kick it off right away tomorrow with Roger live. *should* is the operative word, they could certainly screw it up lol

I KNOW!!! And not only that, but they obsess over the same players over and over again to the point of making one puke out their precious lunch! If they continue to do this, then just put their names on the program coverage title! :(

I'm not Russian, but it was said during the French Open that it's actually supposed to be pronounced shah-RAH-po-vah but when they moved to America every one pronounced it shah-rah-POE-vah and they just kind of went with it. In intereviews, even Maria pronounces the name shah-rah-POE-vah. A lot of the Russian players seem to do the same thing. I suppose it's easier than constantly trying to correct everyone.

And they just went along with the long "a" too?

Well that happened to Navratilova too. :(

Im russian and it is supposed to be ShaRApova as with all the other names, KuznetsOVa and Myskinas name is probbly Mooskina but even as a russian speaking person i pronounce it the way American people do, I guess you get used to it, really the face behind the name is more important..

Wait, I thought live coverage is supposed to begin at 7 am ET every day, when tennis starts on all courts but the top two show courts. I really hope so. It's been like that every year I've watched Wimbledon, whether it be HBO, TNT (the best), or ESPN. That hour beforehand is really nice because you get to see some good matches between the lesser-known players.

hopefully they will show some of the other matches in that 1 hour at 7am. I have no idea what "Wake Up To Wimbledon" is really supposed to be. lol guess we'll find out in a few hours ;)

Haha, I just found out about "Wake up to Wimbledon" thing now. I'm scared to see what that could be, but I really hope they show some tennis in that hour. I bet they will tomorrow, since Martina Nav is playing and they absolutely worship her.
